Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Battle
Ethan's blood lance struck true, piercing deep into Abomination's shoulder. The monster howled, thrashing wildly, his massive arm swinging in a blur of brute force. Ethan barely had time to react, yanking the blood weapon free and twisting his body mid-air to avoid being crushed. The sheer force of Abomination's swipe sent a blast of wind past him, rattling nearby debris like leaves in a storm.
Hulk roared and charged, using Abomination's momentary distraction to slam his fists into the creature's chest. The impact echoed like a thunderclap, sending shock waves through the ground and shattering windows in the nearby buildings. Abomination staggered back, snarling, his thick, scaly hide cracked in places where Hulk's blows had landed.
Ethan landed on a nearby overturned car, his blood manipulation already forming another weapon—this time a wickedly curved scythe, pulsing with a deep crimson glow. He could feel the heat manipulation coursing through his veins, amplifying the edge of the blade. His eyes narrowed. He wasn't just fighting to survive anymore; he was fighting to win.
Abomination, furious and wounded, lunged at Hulk with reckless abandon. His clawed hands slashed through the air, one of them raking across Hulk's chest and drawing green blood. Hulk growled, more annoyed than hurt, before grabbing Abomination by the wrist and twisting violently. The sickening crack of bone breaking filled the battlefield as Abomination roared in agony.
"Damn, big guy, remind me to never shake hands with you," Ethan quipped, leaping forward. He swung his scythe in a deadly arc, slicing across Abomination's exposed side. The heated edge burned through flesh and muscle, sending up a plume of charred smoke.
The monster bellowed and lashed out in desperation, his uninjured arm hammering into Ethan's side. The impact was like being hit by a freight train. His enhanced durability softened the blow, but pain still exploded through his ribs as he was hurled through the air, slamming into a collapsed building. Dust and rubble rained around him as he struggled to rise, coughing up blood. His regeneration kicked in, knitting his wounds together with eerie efficiency, but the process was slower than before. He was pushing his limits.
Civilians gasped and shouted from behind makeshift barricades, some recording the battle while others clutched one another in fear.
"Did you see that?! He just got launched like fifty feet and he's still moving!" one man yelled in disbelief.
"Who the hell is he?" another asked, phone trembling in his grip as he recorded.
A little boy, clutching his mother's hand, whispered in awe, "He's like a vampire superhero…"
Back on his feet, Ethan adjusted his mask, the crimson glow of his eyes glinting slightly as he smirked. "Okay, that one hurt. You got a good right hook, I'll give you that," he muttered, before his blood tendrils snaked out, gripping the ground to steady himself. A wave of exhaustion dragged at his limbs, but he forced himself to stay upright. "But now it's my turn."
He clenched his fists, focusing on the heat welling inside him. The air shimmered around him as his body temperature rose, the ground beneath his feet blackening from the sheer intensity. His blood tendrils ignited, shifting from crimson to molten gold, radiating an oppressive heat.
Abomination snarled, eyes flickering with a hint of uncertainty for the first time. "What the hell are you?"
Ethan grinned, flames licking at the corners of his vision. "I'm just a passing-through Kamen Rider. You better remember that."
With a flick of his wrist, he launched a barrage of heated blood projectiles, each one searing through the air like miniature meteors. Abomination raised an arm to shield himself, but the burning projectiles exploded against his scales, forcing him back step by step.
Hulk, seizing the opportunity, grabbed a nearby streetlamp, wrenching it from the ground with ease. With a single mighty swing, he brought it crashing down onto Abomination's skull with a resounding clang, bending the steel pole in half. Abomination dropped to one knee, dazed, blood dripping from the fresh wound on his forehead.
Ethan dashed forward, reforming his molten scythe, the heat warping the air around it. He aimed for the throat, but Abomination, still sluggish, managed to lurch sideways at the last second, the blade carving deep into his shoulder instead. He roared in agony, swiping at Ethan in blind fury. Ethan barely managed to roll under the attack, the force of the swing causing a shock wave that sent cars tumbling. This was it. The moment to end the fight.
Hulk let out a guttural roar, slamming his fists together. The force alone created a gust of wind that sent dust spiraling into the air. He charged, each step shaking the battlefield. Ethan, feeling the moment align, surged forward as well, his body flickering between shadow and flame.
Abomination raised his arms, trying to defend himself, but it was too late.
Hulk's punch connected first, a devastating uppercut that sent Abomination soaring into the air. Ethan followed up in the same instant, launching himself upward with a burst of blood propulsion, his molten scythe shifting into a massive, burning spear. He twisted in midair, the weapon aimed straight for Abomination's chest.
Time seemed to slow.
The spear plunged through, piercing deep, the heat instantly cauterizing the wound. Abomination's eyes widened in shock, his mouth opening in a silent scream. Ethan twisted the weapon, sending another wave of heat surging through his foe's body before ripping it free in a spray of embers and blood.
Gravity took hold, and Abomination plummeted, crashing into the ruined street below with an earth-shaking impact. Dust and debris filled the air, obscuring him from view.
Silence.
Then, a weak groan.
Hulk landed heavily beside Ethan, both watching as Abomination twitched weakly, his body broken, steam rising from his wounds. He wasn't dead—but he was done.
Ethan exhaled, his body cooling down, the molten glow fading from his veins. His limbs felt like lead, exhaustion creeping in, making it harder to even keep his balance. His breathing was ragged, and for the first time, he felt the true weight of his abilities pressing down on him. His vision blurred slightly, a pounding ache settling in his skull. He had pushed himself to the limit, maybe even past it.
But as the adrenaline faded, replaced by the bone-deep fatigue, a victorious smirk still tugged at his lips.
