Chapter 58: Walter X Smith II
Trail
You call it madness?
__
You said you would be with me forever. You said you would pass any trails without being reluctant. I never felt the way it felt after I got you. I have never seen any harmony disgrace the place you belong to. I saw a glass, making the barrier. No sound passes it. You've never noticed me evaporating the voices, noticing you silently vanishing from the trail, I spread for us once.
The departure of Smith never was a choice to spread the pain. He always kept it inside. Whenever Walter spoiled a date, whenever he mentioned the topic, Jamie always looked at the sky, closed his eyes, and kept it inside. It's good to have a heavy heart. Or, everything becomes light. It's good to fill it with pain rather than keep it empty with hopes. Only for a few differences. Walter let Smith feel how tiny things become a burden after suffering less. Jamie Smith always remained unable to save the rest. All he did was only wait for filling the emptiness. But the result was always empty with fleeting desires.
10 July 2024
Jamie Smith received the cap for his test debut. With a batting average of 42.46 and 111 highest score, he is shining through the stars. He continued scoring well throughout the first half of the year of his test journey. He's already been one to be picked on the XI against any opponents. Seniors have another support for his career. He is going like unstoppable.
Within a few months of his relationship with Paul Walter, he got a chance to the test side. Even Paul Walter had been called for BBL, and he didn't feel hesitate to lift the trophy for Brisbane Heat. As he came back, he proposed Jamie and promised. Their relationship began with no tension. It was clean water until one drop of poison fell on.
It was all better until his test debut.
"I don't know. I have told him for the behaviours brother showed to him, he felt sorry. He didn't mean to insult him. My family wanted me to move on with someone outside from cricket. That's it. How can it bother him? They're still supporting me cause I also chose Walter like he did. And, and they're obviously looking forward to us. They care about us. My brother, along with the family, didn't trust Walter at first. I mentioned AT FIRST. At least, he could wait until the solution. He could have trusted me as I was desperately finding some ways. Pope, I even told him that if they don't allow us to be together, I will leave them and stay in his house. We can even get married, too. B-but he didn't listen to mine. He thought my family would trun him down brutally. He thinks they're all crazy, along with me."
Sent the text to Olie Pope. He never expected Pope to support him. All he was feeling was low and detached. Even if the distance didn't cost, at least his effort was worths. He was feeling heavy. If Pope didn't as him, he would never share it. He just wants to let Walter take the next step. Cause all he will do, do for his happiness. Jamie Smith leans on his bed and looks at the dark sky.
Why wouldn't he choose Walter's happiness?
Closes the eyes and opens it again. That feeling between the delay has remained always the same. He only sees shadows. He only feels pain.

"No, you listen to me. I've heard that your family wants you to get married with renowned guys. I'm no match with them. I-I only play BBL and indoor crickets. What about you? LOOK AT YOU, SMITH. You got a chance on the international side. You're shining. You're getting better. You're proving, CONGRATULATIONS. Thousands claps." "WLATER, shut up." "No, you shut up, Smith. YOU SHUT UP. I've had enough with your fucking family. They are all mad. Lunatic for having what is never worth." "Walter, you're crossing limi-" "What do you think, huh? I have limits. Only that you've come with me in the bbl for supporting me with kind heart. Oh my God! A test player showed himself up for supporting a 'Not-his-level-match' player! Isn't it wonderful?! You're talking about-" "At least, I HAVE COME, Walter. What about you? I never found you supporting me from the dressing room. I've never seen you each time I got out. Even when I scored a hundred, where were you?" Closed the distance between them. Hold his collar tightly, pulling his chin down. "Thousnad claps! Thousand claps even haven't gotten yours. You think it's enough. It's not. Even for my family, you call it madnes? Just because they didn't choose you. You think we're all crazy. Yes, we are. I am. I-I have come here cause a lover should. If you consider it as madness. You wish." Realesed Wlater angrily and left off the room.
"Walter, I agree what my brother mentioned was true. He wanted it. Why can't you take like a brother's characteristic towards his younger brother?"
Jamie Smith starts the conversation after he tolerates enough. He found no feedback from the other side. "Fine. I know you have nothing to describe to me. I've prepared my luggage. I-I am leaving. If you have even a little care, I hope you'll show up at, at the airport. T-take care of yourself."
Tears sheds the path, calling him for the last arrival. He would never feel hesitate to rush towards the incline boundary. While entering into his last ride, he glanced back from his shoulder. He had only faced his desires floating around. He felt the emptiness deep down inside his heart. He leaned on the seat, looking through the window. Slowly, it's taking on. Leaving all the things behind. Maybe last him he saw the door had been closed. There was no one to hold it for him. There was no one SHOWED UP.
Tears filled the face. Wiped it instead.
'Walter, sorry. I even wouldn't let any tear to fall down on your happiness. It will float it away. How can I let that happen? I have got no right to be here and show the pain. You chose, I took.'
