The Primordial 2 - IV
THIRD PERSON POV
'Weak'. I ducked below a fist and met a knee to my palms staggering me backward. 'I was weak'. I caught my stumble and swept my feet the way I'd seen him do. He leaped over it and brought his foot down with a powerful stomp. Bone crunched and it took nothing in me to keep from screaming. This was nothing compared to the destruction energies of Omega Point.
"You are daring and yet you are no fighter stranger". Drak'Var spoke. His voice sounded sad and sorry. It made me feel. Fury. There was no emotion or tantalizing sensation in my heart or skin. Just pure and raw fury.
'Lesser than my siblings and still lesser than these creatures. Entities living and ignorant of the greater realms'. My eyes burned with hate and anger. None directed at the creatures around me. Only at myself.
'How could I be so weak?'. My fists shook and my leg still snapped from the stomp ached. I pushed myself to my feet and glared with ferocity. Drak'Var frowned. Yet my glare was not for him. No. It was to myself, my weakness, and my anger. To the feeling of inferiority, I possessed when set before my family. And now weakness even with mortals.
I lunged for Drak'Var. He caught me by the throat, hoisted me up, and slammed me to the ground. I roared in his face and his fists came crashing down on me. A right blow shook my jaw and sent hot and metallic liquid through my mouth. Another struck my skull and rattled something in my head.
A fist to my torso made me heave and spit out all that blood on his face. He frowned and swiped it all off while I watched. Then he struck again.
Each blow brought with it more knowledge than the last. A right hook that met bone with bone, pain. Another punch that smashed in my nose, destruction, another that pulverized my ear, the act of killing. Each strike, each fist each blow and I saw many secrets. Things I couldn't and had not deduced from my long time in the Omega Reality.
Then he stopped. I looked at him and for some reason, I sneered. "Is that all you have?". He grit his teeth and then grabbed me by the throat.
"I hope you can heal as you did for my father". Then his forehead struck my face. Right on the nose. The crunch of bone and mashing of Flesh sent stars and lights into my brain. I saw fires, smoke, ash, oblivion. Death and pain. Murder and killing. Blood. Rivers of it. At the center of it all, I saw me.
Little baby me. With wings of leather and black curved horns that pointed to the upper realms. The sight vanished just as quickly as it came.
'No. It's not enough'.
Drak'Var was already stumbling off me his fist covered in blood. Mine and his father's. I rolled and pushed to my feet. The village was silent, everyone watching with silent and placid gazes. Even little ones stared on with not a blemish of emotion.
I pushed to my feet and chuckled while hobbling on the one good leg. Loud enough for him to hear I spoke. "Is that the best the chieftain can do for his seat. I'm sure your father would have hit me harder. I have not yielded yet. And as you can see Drak'var, I am still standing".
He was a blur of motion. One that I could see even though the blood and dizziness clouded my vision. I felt the feet on my chest. Felt the ground against my back. The air left my body.
'Air!'.
The feet stomped hard on my chest again and I felt more pain. Darkness rushed up to my sight. Another stomp. Pain. Another. I could see the waves of energy flowing through my dreams and thoughts. More stomps. Killing. The act of taking a life. To snuff that which made them living. To return their souls to Freyja.
A fist to my face and I heard the crack. It was slowly thundering in my ears and in my mind, it was the breaking rift of a realm ground. One from which flames and smoke poured.
More pain and suffering. I stood in that vacant spot watching the flames, the destruction, Seeing souls roll into the valley that was destruction and cease to exist.
Thump. Thump Thump Thump. Thump.
I stared into the waves of black and purple fire that blistered the grounds and scorched everything.
Thump Thump Thump Thump
I saw the tribe and village, the woodland burn as they became ash.
Thump Thump Thump!
Saw the Chieftain as he beat my charred and burned remains to the very last dust.
Thump Thump!!
The very fires rolled through and over his skin. Darkness seeped from his veins and pooled beneath him. It wasn't just him. It was his people too.
Thump!!
All that energy. All that blackness oozing from the woodlands and dying and burning Undules flowed straight to me. Like a river of black ink. It pooled and formed a bed like Mother's soft and comfy shoulders.
I sank into it.
****
Thump!
Silence.
Drak'Var didn't sense anything. He didn't know any reason to stop. The stranger had asked for it. So he would fish it. His fists pounded into the Undule's face. His expression was a twisted one of guilt, rage, and respect. There was nothing left of the stranger's head. Without thinking or checking he knew. He'd killed his family's benefactor.
It was not his fault. He knew it. Thought it. But why was his fist still pounding away?
He paused. His eyes were red. The green and blue orbs of his lower and upper eyes shaking. His right fist was still in a cocked fashion. His chest heaved. His skin crawled.
"Aaarghh". He punched.
Thump.
****
Freyr's eyes shut open. His left hand darted out to grasp the fist that came for him. A gasp filled the space. But it wasn't the hand of the dead rising that alarmed most. No. Above, the skies darkened, storm clouds gathering. Lightning flashed within the storm clouds and the Undule's shivered. Many had seen storms. This one was different. The lightning danced amongst the clouds, its red din giving the land a blood-red color.
Freyr didn't notice any of this as his mind shook with the scenarios he'd seen in his death. 'A Primeval Demon can hold no absolute chaos until they too have seen destruction'.
Freyr finally understood. Just why he was weaker than the rest and less special.
Drak'Var stumbled away from the stranger as flames licked over his form and burned him to ash. 'What madness is all this?'.
Never had they seen a mortal burn after death.
The ashes burst apart and from the dust of its explosions stepped out Freyr. Drak'Var took a step back.
"You win. Chieftain". Freyr smiled and taking his long white hair he brought it before him and holding the very tip incinerated it. "Those who lose shoulder shorten their hair . A sign of respect to their better".
Drak'Var blinked. His eyes shook even more violently. 'What madness is he?'.
****
The clack of Gurns striking against each other was like music to my ears. The four-eyed mortals sparring between themselves in the various Nokelut brought me a sort of joy like nothing before. These creatures with their long white hairs flowing behind them as they danced were creatures that respected and bowed to strength.
Which was why it hadn't been all that difficult to make them bend the knee. A side glance to my right where the chieftain sat on a lower seat of bones watching me from the corner of his. He had been a tough one. Skilled too, which made sense considering I had next to no knowledge in fighting.
'Fortunately, I am me'. It had been a matter of strength and impossibility. Both of which had sent the chieftain to his knees.
Yet as I stood here watching them fight I realized how boring the Undules were. They were the apex predators of their continent. Forming bands of tribes that were led by the long-haired and black-skinned chiefs. The only fun here was their young coming-of-age ceremony fights. The Dus'ar. It was very interesting the fights were bloody and brought this sensation I couldn't explain. Even more amusing was how the entire tribe now saw my actions of burning my hair as a custom or law to be followed.
Every loser in their fight had their hair cut to be shorter than whoever beat them. It was fun to see.
It was amusing all the things I'd seen in just a single day I had spent in this mortal realm. Yet I grew bored. Even the sensations couldn't keep me interested for so long. I picked the imaginary dirt from the fingers of my hand while admiring the mortal dark-skinned flesh I was in.
After my resurrection or rebirth, something I still didn't understand, a lot now made sense. I was weak. Far weaker than I should be. A god of destruction must know destruction to use it. In my avatar, I had died but that was like a percentage of me simply dying.
'Bàck to weak Freyr once I'm back home'.
"Onori". I turned to see a bowl of fruits near my face held in the palms of a young Undule. 'What did they call these versions of their mortals again? Ahah, Udon(female). Still sounds weird '. My eyes left the female and lowered to the basket. Sitting upright a grin split my cheeks. This was the part that had made it extra hard to just up and wander away.
"Starberries". I set a hand into the bowl and picked up the cluster of Star-shaped tiny red fruits. "Sunburst orange". I salivated using the other hand to grasp the orange. Looking up the Udon I smiled at her.
"You bring me precious gifts". Focusing back on the ongoing Dus'ar I ripped into both fruits.
"Wait. Wait". Halting her attempts to leave I motioned with my left hand. "Please leave the basket". I was back to watching the fight, yelling, and groaning when someone did something bad. I didn't know the 1s or 2s of a fight but I didn't care.
The bonfires that illuminated the tribe village made it clear enough of who was beating who and I didn't like it. I had put my bets on the smaller one and watching him get beaten annoyed me. The Chieftain next to me seemed glad to see his choice win though. I gave him a side eye wondering if he'd already forgotten the beating I gave him.
'Oh right. It was the other way round. Had to let him beat to understand all that feeling'. I mentally smiled. A sigh echoed in my head.
I sat there fiddling with the last of the fruits as the fights were completed. My mind raced to where all my siblings were, wondering and thinking about how their races had turned out. 'Im sure they're having good days. With mature older bodies'.
That's when it happened. Unlike my other siblings, I had this sense for life that I never could explain. It was like I could detect and see all living things. It was something like my sister's ability to sense all her souls. It was a splendid affair.
This was why I had sensed it the moment it happened. The very pulse of life energy that flared far in the distance. It was so far that it was a mere brush of wind. Yet I still felt and sensed it. I stood up abruptly eyes locked in the distance. The chieftain to my right rose as well a hint of worry on his face. It was clear that whatever could make me act this way was something he'd want to know about.
I stood there staring in that direction for a moment before I turned back to him. Our eyes locked and he stiffened. "I believe one of my siblings is close by" I took steps close to him. "I'll be going now". The fight between us had opened my eyes to how fast I would have lost against someone of equal strength without any combat prowess. Aka Freyja. I shook my head mentally.
"You've shown me the epitome of what being skilled in this place is, and I admire it". With a smile at him, I turned to leave. My entire attention was on finding that pulse. 'Maybe it's just mother'. Still, even she had no such feeling. I only felt that around Sol. Meaning Haero could be there.
'I could go see what he's up to. Have some fun. Ask them how to solve this problem'. I just knew that Mother wouldn't take it well if she knew I had to die.
"Wait Onori. Please!'.
I turned to see Drak'var on one knee. His hands were placed beneath his two lower eyes. "You came and you showed me power. I am honored to have tussled with an Onori. But my chief". His head rose as his hands left his face. "Your actions prove I and my people weak. Whilst you are an Onori what if others like you come? Today you could have ended us all. Yet we still live. I and my people do not like the feeling of such weakness and inability".
"So what. I should kill anyone who threatens you?". I turned my head in the direction of the feeling for a second and back.
"No, my chief. No. I would never waste your time with such affairs. No. I simply ask that you grant us the path or power to aid ourselves".
I was silent. 'What did he mean by that?'. Behind him, the entire tribe had paused to watch this talk. 'What was going on?'. I didn't understand what he wanted from me but I did know I needed to get to that feeling before it vanished. Looking at all the Undules watching me I felt stumped. I didn't like feeling stumped.
"You Drak'var, are special". I started. Unsure of where I was heading with this I made a quick call for Mum.
'Mum. What is he asking for and how can I help with that?'.
'That's a nice thought there Freyr'. Her voice deadpanned in my head. 'What he desires is a blessing. Blessings do create a tether between higher beings and mortals letting most things from the mortal seep over to the god and only what the god allows to seep down to the Mortal'.
In my head, the thought of how I could use this bloomed quickly. Thinking of how I could benefit from his skills while also keeping a connection to him felt nice.
'Thanks ma'. I focused back on Drak'var then paused. 'How do I use these blessings?'.
'How would you know when you don't even know your strengths and weaknesses? If you'd just checked you would have seen how much better you got from just dying. Don't tell your mum I said that. Now open your Records!'.
Chastised I mentally grumbled and opened them. I didn't really care about what I could do as I was too busy with admiring things plus I didn't think it mattered before I let Drak'Var kill me.

'That's a lot'. I didn't have time to start going through all the options so I just moved to pick the first one on the list'.
'Stop you brat!'. Mother's voice boomed in my head.
'Owww. What?!'.
'Since you're not eager to pick clearly, then select the fourth option. You'll thank me later '. I frowned and shrugged mentally. Picking the last option I watched as Drak'var suddenly squirmed. Without staying back to see the effects I turned and switched to spirit form. Like a phantom, I fled through the plains headed for the source of the feeling.

DRAK'VAR'S POV
One moment I was on my knees face to the ground as I waited for the Onori's decision. My mind spun with thoughts of what I would do if he agreed and what I would still do if he didn't. I hoped he did.
The Onori had never given us an in-depth explanation of what or who he was. Simply calling himself one of the Six Onorils to grace this world. And now, such a being could or wouldn't grant me a boon to lead my people into a great future.
I didn't hear his words the moment he spoke but I did hear another. One preluding an immense pain that washed through me. It was like fire burned through my veins and under my skin.

THIRD PERSON POV
"And that brother is how I ended up here?". Freyr let out a sigh as if he'd had the worst day in the world.
"Now do tell. I've seen a lot since I got here so I wish to know. How do I get those pretty flames you used to make them?". His right hand waved in the direction of the angels holding Aerondir.
