Cobra Kai: Under the Cobra Emblem

Chapter 78: Miguel Gets a Girlfriend

Max had just taken a shower and was heading to the relaxation area to rest when he found Miguel texting someone on his phone.

"Something good happened?"

Startled, Miguel turned off his phone and looked up to find Max staring at him.

"Well, yeah, good things have happened," Miguel replied nervously. He knew why he was anxious but didn't want to share the reason.

The truth was, sharing that secret might lead to judgment—or worse, being excluded from the group of friends he had worked so hard to build.

Miguel had never had so many friends before. Now, they all cared about him so much that they felt like family, even if they weren't related by blood.

That's why telling them he was dating Samantha, Daniel's daughter—the same Daniel who had stopped his fight with Kyler—could make things a bit awkward.

Even Miguel was terrified of the idea of Daniel finding out he was dating his daughter. He didn't think Daniel would take it well.

"Well, whenever you want to talk, I'm here." Max, of course, wasn't interested in his friends' private lives unless they wanted to share. As long as they were okay, he wouldn't push for more details.

But unexpectedly, Miguel blurted out, "I'm dating Daniel LaRusso's daughter."

"Holy crap!"

"Damn!"

Ryan, who was walking by, heard that loud and clear and shouted, "Everyone, listen up! Miguel is dating the daughter of the guy trying to compete with us!"

Rumors about a new karate dojo opening had spread across the school, becoming a hot topic, especially with the upcoming San Fernando Valley Tournament.

Everyone wanted to know if the new dojo would meet the requirements to compete against them. Of course, most people wouldn't be able to participate.

Not everyone could adapt to fighting strictly with karate. One wrong move could lead to penalties that would tarnish their reputation.

"Well done, Miguel. Use the Cobra to your advantage."

"If I were you, I'd watch out for her dad."

"I'm telling Sensei Lawrence."

Max noticed the embarrassment on Miguel's face and then said, "Congratulations. Are you inviting her to the party we're organizing?"

"Yeah, though I doubt she'll want to go." Miguel suppressed his embarrassment entirely but still had a huge smile on his face.

"Well, we don't hold grudges," Max said. He had warned Miguel about Samantha, noting she didn't seem to have great emotional control. After all, she had gone from dating someone who toyed with her to Miguel, who had genuinely fallen for her.

But since it wasn't his problem, Max wouldn't interfere.

Ryan sat next to Miguel and said, "Fighters from all disciplines are going to attend. I'll recommend some from our school if they want to compete."

"I can do it," Hawk said, walking over with his impressive hairstyle.

"Dude, I wouldn't recommend it," Miguel replied. He had witnessed the brutality of the fights. The matches they'd seen last time didn't compare to what he had seen in his first experience.

For a moment, he even questioned whether he should continue competing.

Hawk, of course, thought Miguel was joking and said, "Come on, man. There'll be judges. It can't be as brutal as last time."

"That's the spirit, man. You're signed up," Ryan declared. There was no way he'd leave out a friend who wanted to fight, even if they weren't the best fighter.

Cobra Kai's influence was growing steadily. In just a few weeks, everyone wanted to be part of the school. Of course, not everyone could handle the demands placed on them here.

In the office of internal affairs, Terry was sitting across from Johnny and said, "It's good that Cobra Kai's values are evolving a bit. My nephew has done an excellent job leading the younger generation."

"Yeah, he's on the right path," Johnny replied.

Johnny didn't know Terry well. He wasn't familiar with Terry's past as a co-founder of Cobra Kai and the current majority owner.

Once a close friend of Kreese, Terry was someone Johnny believed would do anything to get what he wanted. But so far, Terry had only shown love for his nephew.

Johnny understood Max's story—a boy who lost his parents to armed criminals when he was just a child.

Johnny knew that martial arts had given Max the strength to move forward. Now, Max would do everything in his power to make Cobra Kai a place where people affected by life's hardships could find their way again.

Terry had proven to be a good man, which was why Johnny trusted him.

But something was about to happen that would change everything.

"I have valuable information…"
