Chapter 21: Chapter 1 The First Flame of War

Chapter 1: The First Flame of War

As dawn breaks over Hi no Kuni, the village is silent, save for the soft rustle of the wind through the trees. Yuuto stands on the front line, his heart steady but his mind sharp, knowing the battle is near. The Zerynthian army is poised just beyond the trees, their encampment a distant but ominous silhouette in the morning light. The air is thick with tension, and the villagers are ready.

Yuuto's thoughts are interrupted by the sound of Garan's voice. "It's time," he says, standing at Yuuto's side, his armor gleaming in the morning light. The veteran warrior's face is grim but resolute. "The men are ready."

Yuuto nods, taking a deep breath as he looks out at the army waiting for his command. "Then we stand firm," he says, his voice unwavering. "We fight for our people, for our home. Today, we show them the strength of Hi no Kuni."

As the signal is given, the warriors of Hi no Kuni gather at the village gates, their weapons drawn and their faces set in determination. Yuuto watches them for a moment, a wave of pride swelling within him. These people are not just subjects; they are his family, and he will protect them with everything he has.

In the distance, the Zerynthian forces begin to stir. The enemy soldiers start marching toward the village, their armor shining under the morning sun, the banners of the empire fluttering in the wind. Yuuto clenches his fists, readying himself for the battle ahead.

The first arrow is loosed, and the battle begins.

The clash of steel, the cries of warriors, and the roar of battle fill the air as the two forces collide. Yuuto stands at the front, his sword raised high, directing his warriors with precision and strength. His training with Garan pays off as he leads the charge, cutting down any who stand in his way.

But the Zerynthians are no weak foes. They are well-trained soldiers, their formations tight, their discipline unyielding. The ground shakes as their war machines roll forward, massive siege weapons that launch massive boulders at the village walls. The first wave of attack is relentless, but Hi no Kuni holds firm.

Yuuto commands his warriors to counterattack, pushing forward as the Zerynthians' siege machines come within range. Arrows and stones fly overhead as the battle rages on. For every Zerynthian soldier that falls, two more take their place, and the pressure on the villagers mounts.

"Hold the line!" Yuuto shouts as he cuts down another enemy soldier. His blade moves with a fluidity born from years of training, each strike precise and deadly. But the Zerynthians are relentless, and despite their best efforts, they begin to push back.

At that moment, something deep within Yuuto stirs. A burning sensation in his chest, a fire that roars to life within him. He can feel the power of the flames awakening, pushing him forward. Without thinking, he raises his sword high and channels the heat inside him, calling upon the power of the fire deity that now resides within him.

A wave of heat surges from Yuuto's body, and in an instant, the ground around him ignites. Flames burst forth from the earth, sweeping across the battlefield and consuming the Zerynthian soldiers in a fiery inferno. The warriors of Hi no Kuni stand in awe as Yuuto becomes a force of nature, the fire coursing through him as if it were an extension of his will.

The Zerynthians are thrown into chaos as the flames roar to life, engulfing their ranks. Their formation collapses as they scatter, desperate to avoid the fire that seems to come from nowhere. Yuuto stands at the center of the storm, his body surrounded by a protective aura of flames that singe the air itself.

For a moment, the Zerynthians falter. They've never seen anything like this before, and they hesitate, unsure of how to proceed. Yuuto seizes the moment, rallying his forces.

"Now!" he roars, and the warriors of Hi no Kuni charge forward with renewed vigor. With Yuuto's fiery power at the forefront, they push the Zerynthians back, driving them away from the village gates.

The battle rages for hours, but with Yuuto's fire as their shield and his leadership driving them forward, the tide begins to turn. One by one, the Zerynthian soldiers are forced to retreat, their once-confident formations crumbling under the onslaught of Yuuto's power.

As the last of the Zerynthian forces flee, Yuuto stands amidst the battlefield, his body still ablaze with the fire that seems to flow through his veins. The villagers stand in awe, watching their leader as he extinguishes the flames around him, his breathing steady, though his body is exhausted.

"We did it," Garan says, his voice full of admiration. "You led us to victory."

Yuuto looks around, his heart swelling with pride as he takes in the sight of the battlefield. The Zerynthians are retreating, but the cost of victory is clear. Many have fallen, but the village stands. His people have been protected.

But Yuuto knows this victory is only the beginning. The Zerynthians will return, and there will be more battles ahead. Yet, with the power of the fire deity at his command, Yuuto is ready for whatever comes next.
