Chapter 26 - 26 Who Needs Your Foil
Chapter 26: Chapter 26 Who Needs Your Foil
“Gurgle… Gurgle…”
Mengmeng almost instinctively swallowed, her little eyebrows all furrowed from the acidity of the vinegar. It wasn’t until she finished a small cup of vinegar that Gu Zhihan stopped.
“So nasty!” Tears were nearly falling from Mengmeng’s eyes as her small hand touched the remnants of vinegar at the corner of her mouth.
“That’s what you get for doing this to yourself!” Gu Zhihan was both distressed and exasperated, with a taut little face, he couldn’t help but scold her, “You’re so foolish, even eating fish leads to you getting bones stuck!”
Despite Gu Zhihan’s fierce words, his hands carefully picked up the chopsticks and meticulously deboned the fish for the little girl, making sure it was spotless of bones after a second check before placing it in her bowl.
Don’t get it wrong, he was just feeling guilty for indirectly causing her trouble by buying her the fish. So now, he was simply trying to make amends.
Mengmeng’s eyes reddened from being scolded, and she stared at him with a pitiable look, “Don’t you think my foolishness can highlight your intelligence?”
“Who needs your highlighting!” To have a fool highlight his intelligence – wasn’t that just lowering his own status?
Gu Zhihan was simply at a loss for words.
Seeing this, Mengmeng puffed up her cheeks and continued to defend her ‘foolishness’, “Actually, being foolish has its benefits. Think about it. If I were as smart as you, then wouldn’t our future baby end up even smarter? What if he’s too smart, like some kind of monster, and ends up being a danger to society!!!”
“So, for the sake of universal peace and the safety of society, for the Party and the people, I should remain a bit foolish…”
Mengmeng’s rosy little mouth opened and closed; every word she uttered was utterly normal, yet when put together they were shockingly unconventional.
Gu Zhihan: “…” Now, being foolish makes sense for you!
Not just Gu Zhihan, but the kindergarten leaders and teachers dining with them, couldn’t help but stare at Luo Mengmeng with shocked eyes. Whose child was this who took nonsense to the extreme?!
Only Teacher Tao remained exceptionally calm, obviously immune to Mengmeng’s shocking words.
“Husband, don’t you agree with what I said!?” After saying everything in one breath, Mengmeng immediately blinked her big eyes and looked at Gu Zhihan.
“Why can’t even food shut your mouth!” Gu Zhihan felt like his face was about to be lost by her, as he picked up the fish with the deboned bones and stuffed it directly into her mouth.
“Mmph…” With her mouth now full, Mengmeng could no longer speak, swallowing the fish and rice bite by bite, her large innocent eyes blinking, still not understanding why her husband suddenly got angry with her.
After lunch, everyone was taken back to kindergarten.
On the way back, Mengmeng suddenly thought of something, “Husband, where did you get the money to buy the crucian carp?”
That was a whopping fifty coins… quite a large sum!
Did he tap into his own little treasury?
“Found it!” Gu Zhihan glanced at her, as if seeing right through her inner thoughts, and snorted coldly, “You didn’t think I used the money I’ve saved up to buy it for you, did you?”
“Yes, yes!” Mengmeng nodded with her small head, certainly thinking that was the case.
“Dream on!” Not good at lying, Gu Zhihan’s neck reddened slightly with fear she would discover the truth, and he quickly turned his head away, pretending to look at the scenery outside.
In fact, he had smashed his little piggy bank that very morning after hearing they were going to the farm. Although, he wondered why he would do such a thing.
Perhaps he was just worried that the girl might want something and not have the money to buy it, end up dining and dashing, and then get held up there… and if he didn’t save her, his mother’s rolling pin would come knocking again, yes, that must be it!
