Chapter 21 - 21 I Listen to My Husband
Chapter 21: Chapter 21 I Listen to My Husband
“Got it.” Although the children said so, in reality, each and every little radish head used all their might to rush towards the bus door, fearing if they were a second late, the grapes at the farm would be gone as if eaten by others.
As soon as the parents saw their children dashing forward, afraid they would get lost or squeezed by the crowd, they also hurriedly pushed forward.
Mengmeng, the little foodie, was no exception!
“Honey, let’s get off the bus quickly, otherwise the grapes will all be picked by others!” Mengmeng, anxious and shouting, quickly pulled Gu Zhihan who was sitting next to her, urging him to squeeze forward with her.
But the more they squeezed…
The bus door was completely blocked by the swarm of children, no one could get off.
Especially since Mengmeng was shorter than other children her age, and with some adults inside, she had just rushed into the crowd when she was squeezed into a pitiable canned sardine, her little body wobbling among the people, her hat on her head knocked off by some hand, and if not for Gu Zhihan tightly gripping her from behind, she would probably have fallen to the ground by now.
“Come back, let’s wait until the crowd clears to go out. The vineyard is so big, it can’t just be picked bare so easily.” Gu Zhihan, seeing how she was squeezing, immediately frowned, used some strength in his arms to rescue the little girl from the crowd, and pressed her onto a seat beside him.
“Alright, I’ll listen to my husband.”
Only when Mengmeng heard that the grapes wouldn’t run out did she obediently sit still and unintentionally touched her head, realizing her hat was gone.
“Husband, my hat is gone!” Mengmeng cried out while shaking her head and looking around.
“It’s here.”
As he spoke, Gu Zhihan had already bent down to pick up the little pom-pom hat that had fallen off Mengmeng due to the jostle, he brushed off the footprint that someone had stepped on it, blew off the dust, and then lifted his hand to place it on her fluffy head, tying the strings securely.
“Mengmeng, Gu Zhihan, hurry down!” By the time Gu Zhihan had finished putting Mengmeng’s hat back on, Teacher Tao had poked her head outside the bus and waved at them.
It turned out that all the children and parents had already gotten off under the teachers’ direction, and now only Mengmeng and Gu Zhihan were left inside the bus.
“Coming!” After Mengmeng responded, she quickly grabbed Gu Zhihan by the arm and headed outside.
Once off the bus, the crisp country air immediately filled their nostrils, surging into every limb.
Looking around, they saw neatly arranged patches of vegetable and fruit fields and plastic greenhouses everywhere, with the fragrance of fruits and vegetables in the air.
Teacher Tao and several other teachers took out megaphones from their bags and told their classes, “We are now going to Vineyard No. 1 for free picking. Parents, please make sure to hold onto your children. We will gather outside at eleven o’clock for a meal together.”
After speaking, the teachers distributed little baskets for grape picking to everyone.
When it came to Luo Mengmeng and Gu Zhihan, Teacher Tao volunteered, “You two don’t have parents with you, and the teacher is worried, so let the teacher accompany you to pick grapes later.”
“No way!” Mengmeng refused without even thinking and once again hugged Gu Zhihan’s arm, shouting loudly and unquestionably, “Who says I don’t have parents, my husband is my parent!”
“Are you sure?”
Teacher Tao stared dumbfounded at Mengmeng, then turned to look at Gu Zhihan. Though he usually behaved like a little adult, his actual age was only six!
