Childhood Friend Who Sees the Future Utters Nonsense

chapter 31

31 – If those lips touched

I had a dream.

Since I had a precognitive dream, I have never encountered a real dream, so I was able to dismiss it as a ‘dream’ because it was an event in the past, not a scene likely to happen in the future.

In that dream, I was at her grandmother’s house just like today. It was still before Hayang came to this house, so the yard was completely emptied and it was like a playground for me and Han Yujin.

– Cool, isn’t it?

– Yes!

We secretly brought things from the warehouse and decorated a corner of the yard as a secret base to play.

As I looked at the base that was being completed in a fairly plausible manner, I asked Han Yu-jin for consent with a satisfied smile.

The accident happened shortly thereafter.

– Wow!?

– Ha, grandma! Worms!

Since the house is located in the countryside, rats and insects sometimes appeared in the yard, but it was the same that day.

Me and Han Yu-jin ran around the yard in a state of confusion at the sight of a huge, black insect that protruded from a gap under the wall we were standing against.

Thinking about it now, I could have just climbed onto the floor. I don’t know if it was because I was young, but I think my head wasn’t working well. I must say that I lacked quickness.

Anyway, we didn’t know the name, but the size was exaggerated, so we were busy running around screaming at the surprise attack of a guy that was half the size of my palm at the time and even flew around.

After all, her father and mother went to the convenience store, so she had no choice but to wait anxiously for the savior of her grandmother.

– Yat!

Percussion.

An unexpected savior appeared out of nowhere and swung the bundle of newspapers he held in his hand as a blunt weapon with a pretty cute scream that was hard to imagine now.

When the guy flew through the sky with a dull blow sound proving that something was right, and flew to the corner of the yard, Yujin Han and I just watched the scene in a daze.

Park Si-yoon, the savior who appeared on the floor, approached the wriggling bug stuck in a corner and unable to fly anymore, unfolded a bundle of newspapers he was holding in his hand, and bound him on the spot.

– Whoa!

– Oppa is the best!

As soon as the enemy that had been harassing us disappeared, Yujin Han and I hugged each other and cheered.

– Hey, did Siyoon catch it? I brought insecticide at best.

Meanwhile, her grandmother, who came out of her room with insecticide belatedly, smiled awkwardly and stroked Park Si-yoon’s hair as if it were something special.

The sight shook me, and I ran to her grandmother on the floor and made all sorts of fuss.

– Grandma! Siyoon was really cool? Like this, like this, I caught the bug in one shot!

Her grandmother watched me happily as Si-yoon Park vomited her passionate speech, following her pose as she wielded her bundle of newspapers, and nodded her head.

– Did you? You are brave.

– Right!? Siyoon is usually quiet at school, but sometimes when she has a bad friend who bullies her kids, she just scolds her! Are the kids stuck?

With my bracken-like hands clenched into fists, and throwing punches in the air, I was very different from the current high school senior, Han Yuna, who usually followed Park Si-yoon’s moves. I would say that she is like a fan of Park Si-yoon.

As if the dream was about to break, her grandmother looked down at me and asked, amidst the increasingly blurry background and fading sound.

– Does my granddaughter want to marry a nice man like Siyoon later?

– … ! …… !

It was a question that I would have shouted ‘NO’ at once now, but at that time, I smiled brightly at what was so exciting about it and answered without any worries.

However, the voice was not clearly audible, so there was no way to know whether it was positive or negative.

Immediately after spitting out that answer, all the background and people disappeared like bubbles, along with her grandmother’s house, and I felt something grabbing me.

As if telling me not to stay there anymore and come here, I surrendered myself to the warm yet strangely rough touch.

***

Fuhuaak!

“Collock! Coke!”

I opened my eyes with an unpleasant sensation, as if something was being spit out of my mouth. There was no unfamiliar ceiling, only the blue sky and sun that I had seen before.

Huh? It’s strange. I must have been swept away and washed away. Or is this the underworld? It’s too real for that. Even here, I went to the stream where I played in the water with two people until just now.

That means… ?

“Hey, Han Yuna! Do you come to your senses?”

“Sister, can you see me!? Are you okay?”

Before I was aware of the reality, I was awakened by the raucous voice I heard.

As I turned my head to the side with difficulty, Park Si-yoon, who was covered in sweat or water, and Han Yu-jin, who were relatively dry, came into view.

Ah, that’s right. It was Park Si-yoon who saved me. Without even thinking about the idiot who didn’t listen to himself and went out on his own and almost drowned.

“I’m fine…. Coke! Coke!”

I tried to say that it was okay, but I couldn’t finish my words and had to cough again. Park Si-yoon pressed my body as if telling me not to stand up at the cough that kept pouring out as if I had heard a sare.

“You will have water in your lungs and it will be difficult for you to speak yet. Besides, I just did chest compressions, so I’m going to have a hard time moving, so just lie down.”

“Ugh, yes.”

It was only then that Park Si-yoon’s words conveyed a throbbing feeling near Myungchi. It looks like he put his weight on my chest while doing CPR. Even so, it is better to be sick for a while than to die.

“Uhhh, sister… ! I really thought my older sister was dying… !”

“Sorry, I guess I should have listened to Park Si-yoon.”

Perhaps it was only now that I realized that I had come back alive, Han Yu-jin belatedly held me in my arms and shed tears.

No matter how much we argue normally, we are sisters.

“That’s what I mean. Anyway, ever since I was young, I always went to dangerous places even though I was told not to go….”

In the meantime, Park Si-yoon took me out of the water and smiled, scolding me with a playful voice even though he must have been tired from doing CPR. It was very similar to the laughter my dad and mom used to make with the words, ‘I can’t live because of you’ when I was playing pranks a lot in the past.

What is that idiot laughing at? Even though he almost died because of me. Aren’t you angry? If you were like me, you wouldn’t be able to punch me in the back, so I would have punched you in the face.

Come to think of it, it’s been like that since the old days.

Despite being afraid of bugs, he was secretly unafraid, so Park Si-yoon always followed me around the neighborhood, following me around.

Then, if he was hurt or caught up in something because of me, he never got angry, even if he scolded me. It just ended with advice to be careful not to let this happen in the future.

I remember that when I was young, I didn’t even properly say sorry to Park Si-yoon.

“I, Park Si-yoon….”

So today, I carefully called Siyoon Park because I wanted to convey her words that she couldn’t say at that time.

Her tired brown eyes turned to me, and I was just about to get the words out of her throat, facing them.

Tak.

“Ah….”

As if he already knew what I was going to say, Park Si-yoon put his hand through my wet hair and opened his mouth with a smile of the kind he had never shown before.

If you became a water ghost as it is, I would go back and see the faces of the elders and Han Yujin.”

“… ….”

Fool, that’s what I’m talking about. Even if you saved me, if you drowned, I would never have seen your parents’ faces. I hoped you wouldn’t come even the moment I fell into the water and lost consciousness.

But isn’t it funny? Park Si-yoon.

At that moment right before I lost consciousness, if someone would come to rescue me, I hoped it would be you. Maybe wishing you wouldn’t come is just my superficial conscious not wanting to cause trouble, and maybe I was waiting for you in my subconscious.

Why, I don’t know why. There must have been Dad, Mom, and at least Han Yu-jin. No matter how much I ask myself why the face that came to mind in the midst of that urgency was you, I can’t get an answer.

Do you know? I suddenly get curious.

While muttering a question he couldn’t even say out loud, Park Si-yoon stood up with his body drenched in water.

“We might have to go to the hospital first, so let’s go home. Eugene, take some of your luggage. I will carry Han Yuna on my back.”

“Oh, no. What to lift I can walk alone….”

In the yard where I was properly conscious, I hurriedly tried to stand up because I didn’t want to bother Park Si-yoon anymore.

However, as if the body that had returned from the threshold of death was protesting that it was not yet in a normal state, I lost my balance at the sight of being blacked out as if I was anemic.

Fortunately, Park Si-yoon caught me on the way, so another accident didn’t happen.

I don’t know who does this because they want to carry you.”

Park Si-yoon, crouching in front of me, silently pointed at my back, as if telling me not to say anything and get up.

In this state, I thought it would be more troublesome to be stubborn for no reason, so I had no choice but to board. If there is a mouse hole anywhere, I want to hide.

“I’m sorry, Eugene, but you go first and ask grandma to turn on the boiler.”

Arriving at the end of the stone steps, Park Si-yoon suddenly made an incomprehensible request to Han Yu-jin.

“Why a boiler?”

“People who have fallen into water sometimes get hypothermia, so just in case.”

“Yes, then I will go first. You must be tired too, so come slowly.”

“Come.”

Following the traces left by Han Yu-jin, who ran like a gun with her luggage and traps in her bag, we slowly headed to her grandmother’s house.

Park Si-yoon’s back felt as wide as her father’s back. Above all, it was thick and hard. To the point where I suddenly realized that he was a man.

Turtle. Turd.

Without even talking to each other, only the sound of Park Si-yoon’s footsteps filled the unpaved road dryly. Even so, he didn’t feel particularly awkward. Perhaps Park Si-yoon feels the same way.

“Wow!”

“Why? Are you okay?”

“Ugh, yes. It still hurts a little near my chest.”

“I’m going to make it a little rough. Originally, CPR was done with broken ribs in mind.”

Broken ribs? That’s kinda scary In other words, it would mean that Park Si-yoon tried so hard to save me. In the first place, I heard that the process of CPR itself requires more physical strength than I thought.

Huh? But wait a minute. Isn’t artificial respiration included in the process of CPR? That said, Park Si-yoon also told me… ?

. “… Excuse me, Park Si-yoon.”

It’s funny that a person saved from the water would ask such a question, but I thought I should check this out, so I carefully called Siyoon Park.

“Why?”

“Did you give me artificial respiration?”

Turning his head and making eye contact with me over his shoulder, Park Si-yoon’s body stopped tall, and he lifted one hand that was holding my leg and held my head—— Ahh!?

“Don’t worry, you fool. Well, I wish I had woken up later, but this time chest compressions were enough.”

“Ah….”

Only then did I realize the reality when I heard Park Si-yoon’s voice beating me.

That’s right, I didn’t. Because he wasn’t submerged for very long, chest compressions were enough to get the water out of his lungs, and he didn’t even go through artificial respiration.

Yeah, that’s a good thing. No matter how much the name of lifesaving is there, Park Si-yoon and I would never have wanted to kiss each other. It would be best not to have an unfortunate incident of stealing each other’s first kiss.

But what is this feeling?

If I had stayed in bed just a little longer, if I had found out about it after Park Si-yoon gave me artificial respiration, if my first kiss was Park Si-yoon, even though it was unfortunate.

I felt regret along with such an unfounded conviction that something must have changed a lot. What would have changed That would be another future that only the parallel world knows about.

I don’t know, I’m sleepy. I’m sorry to Park Si-yoon, but I’ll just cut it like this. I don’t think I can survive otherwise. My head is full of this fool.
