Chapter 8: 8 Allies? (Part 1)
(GoK's
I went towards the forest where I usually trained my spells and other things, it was outside the shield, meaning dangerous monsters around A:rank are there. After coming from GoK, I decided to level up my spells and other abilities, which I had neglected for a long due to not having any idea how to use them; thankfully, Gran and GoK's library had plenty of knowledge.
My focus on elemental spells I had it were not wasted and was bearing fruit now because I could cast new spells on my own as I had got an idea of how magic works, and since I have reached a relatively high mastery, the different spells have vanished from my skill set, and there are now only [Elemental l Magic] there.
Then there is [Necromancy] there is not much progress here mostly because I just gained it yesterday from a hidden quest that was about impressing the elder and going on a date with her, which was a mistake since I just talked with her while taking walk around the clan complex and it was mostly due to building connections, yeah, the system made a mistake but who cares.
Immortal Legion: Within its sphere of influence, it transforms the dead who died on the battlefield, regardless of whether they were friend or foes, into Undead Soldiers who are loyal to me. Moreover, this spell reconstructs the core of those who had already died, making it possible for them to cast magic; I remember that this magic was used by Adalmann in his fight with Shuna, where he raised dead warriors killed by his undead to fight.
I tried to use it inside the cave, but due to some interference, I was not able to use it. I think it will need to be cast in a limited time after the death, and I will not need to sustain them, which is good.
[Holy Magic] was natural to me for obvious reasons, and it can be said I was proficient; I don't know whether it is my mastery or my origins that I was able to use it to heal skeletons, which was weird considering they are undead, but who cares? Thankfully, I would be able to use it against the undead should the need arise.
There was another category [Divine Magic], but it was locked due to some reasons, probably due to my strength. I am pretty sure once I unlock this, I will be on another level.
There were also Arts like Battle will which is another thing worth working on BUT the residents of Clash Continent have difficulty in mastering this a very high one and it was due to the Barrier, yeah, the reason that I didn't gain any Unique skill was also this, the Barrier might sound like disadvantage I also think it like that but Gran has shared a lot of knowledge to me and he also told me that while the people cannot actively use these things they tend to it passively, without knowing it.
For how Barbarians subconsciously cover their bodies with aura to not get one shotted (a fact that surprised me to no end) and Archers use their aura to subconsciously guide their arrows, though not as effective as actively using it it was better than nothing fortunately the Barrier didn't waste their potential it would be a bummer to put 10X effort for something that person from outside would be able to do it with 1X effort.
It is good to know that once the Barrier collapses, which is about to happen in a few months due to yours truly most people will gain skills some may gain unique skills (individuals with A: rank or special individuals) and there is also a chance that beings like Barbarian King, Death Monarch, Grand Warden, Nidhogg might gain an ultimate skill.
While it may sound good it means we will lose our natural protection from the Barrier and if Western Nations decide to interfere, which obviously will things may get tricky, while they are not that problematic, the situation can turn 'bad' if Demon Lords took interest in the Clash Continent which they definitely will, the most concerning will be Guy Crimson and Luminous Valentine others are either not much threat (*cough Carrion-Frey-Clayman) or are easy to handle like Milim Nava all you need is good food which Clash Continent do not lack P.A.N.C.A.K.E.S~ and a landing pad.
Leon Cromwell would be a concern because he is strong, and his territory is closest to Clash Continent, but he is busy with little kids he trafficked from Yuuki, Omniversal F.B.I. What are you doing?
Oh, the world is round, so the Ice Continent should be near to us too!
While I was about to test some common arts I felt a presence nearby,
'Hmm, [Shadow Motion] it is a rare skill so who is this, to be able to get near me.' Leo thinks that whomever it is must be a master of stealth not possible for a monster, the person was still a hundred meters a testament to his/her skills as Leo kept his Divine Sense activated all the time covering a quarter of the forest, a human brain would have been fried if they tried this and Leo also had a bit difficulty but he gets used to it or rather his body got used to it.
"Show yourself," Leo ordered, noticing the individual stopped moving, aware that his movements had been noticed; after a few moments, the individual moved, coming toward him at a moderate speed to not be mistaken as an attacker; he/she didn't use shadow motion.
Leo patiently waited. The individual was a B:rank, and if taken [Shadow Motion] into account, his threat level became higher, but Leo wasn't worried thanks to his reflexes and senses, not to mention he doubted that this man had any special weapon, but he will not let his guard down.
"Sorry for the disturbance; I didn't mean to." A rugged middle-aged man revealed himself; Leo confirmed that this was his real appearance with a subtle scan.
"State your business."
"I was searching for someone when I felt a powerful aura. To ensure that it was not a powerful monster, I decided to take a look. That is when you sensed me." He half-lied. Leo would have believed him if he was a normal guy.
"So, for whom are you searching? I may help you.."
"Thank you, young man, for offering help."
(Old Man/ Image)
Looking at the young man who looked two decades younger than me, I felt dangerous. He was at least A:rank to have this aura even though he was trying to conceal it. I would have observed him further, but he sensed me, probably due to some sensing skill.
He wore expensive-looking clothing that was enchanted with [Life Magic], and good looks were not something bandits would have; he had strength that those nobles didn't know. He was probably some high-ranking adventurer or someone high-ranking from the army.
Since he sensed me I approached him.
"-I may help you.."
'Should I ask for his help?' I found myself in a dilemma. He didn't strike me as someone arrogant, but he also didn't feel like he would do something for free, I doubt I have anything to give him, but he had a feeling that he should give it a try.
"Young Man, I am Sebas, an Elder of a small village and I am looking for nearby villages that may help us in dealing with our situation."
That was not a lie. We had already formed a small alliance of three villages, one of which was under him.
"Leo, I am a wandering adventurer looking for the recent Goblin movements."
'Maybe it can work.'
"Leo, my village is also suffering from the problems caused by recent goblin movements."
(Leo)
"-Goblin movements..."
That was a coincidence but nothing suspicious; he was telling the truth when he told about Goblins, so I may very well take a look; maybe I can use this opportunity to look at how other villages are.
"Can you explain in more detail, Mr. Sebas?"
He didn't belong to Mountain Bandits, so I will try to make him an ally. He is a powerful individual, and I hope his village also has some people like him; allying with his village can be beneficial for both of us.
"Call me Sebas, Leo; as for the Goblins, it is like this.."
So Goblins did a number on them, huh?
I asked him to take me to his village, which, thankfully, he agreed. I think he needs my help to deal with the Goblins, but I can feel he was hiding something from me since I didn't feel any malicious intent from him, I went along.
He then asked me can he use his skill on me to travel to the village which I agreed, I could sense his wariness since this would prevent me from knowing the route to his village but I didn't blame him, blindly trusting anyone in this world can get you killed I am saying this to Rimuru Tempest who got almost killed by Hinata.
"Hold your breath."
'I don't need to breathe, old man.' I wanted to say but didn't.
Being God is very convenient don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Everything was dark, even with my [Magic Sense]. The Shadow Space is a separate dimension, a very cool ability if you ask me, but it has limitations.
And we are inside the village.
It was a normal village larger than I expected; it had Archer Towers and a wooden fence that was 1.5 meters tall and no traps, the overall poor defense, I will say.
The population was around 500, out of which only 20-30 individuals were above E:rank or were capable of fighting, with one individual having B-: Strength.
It would be wrong to say that I wasn't disappointed but it may be because my expectations were high.
My appearance was met with surprise, but since I was with their elder, they didn't say anything. Some individuals who had keen instincts became wary of my presence but mostly behaved normally.
Normalcy is a good thing, I guess?
I was taken to the town hall, which was a luxurious building compared to other buildings; Sebas asked me about tea, which I declined as I drink tea on a very rare occasion.
So he took me to the medical area to show me the injured people and man there situation was bad but not that considering I could heal them which I saw no problem in doing.
When I told Sebas he agreed immediately, it made a good impression on me as he cared about his people more than some lousy favour.
[High Heal] and done every villager is now in peak condition and I think went a little overboard and my Holy Magic leveled I could hearing commotion that occurred outside.
Sebas looked at me gratefully and it looked like he will declare me the village leader at any moment, he didn't strike me as someone like that, strange.
I felt the B-: rank individual approaching probably concerned with what happened.
"Chief, the thing happened outside what was that?" A delinquent beauty asked Sebas.
And he facepalmed, while the girl was a beauty I focused on the term she used.
"Chief?"
I looked at Sebas with a raised eyebrow.
Then the delinquent looking girl noticed me and seemed stunned for some reason her cheeks reddening as she awkwardly greets me.
"H-hi, I am Akali."
"Leo."
"Akali, I will have a talk with you later." Sebas said in calm voice too calm.
"Eeek, sorry Chief."
Then Sebas looked at apologetically,
"Sorry, I lied, I will reveal everything now."
I nodded, Akali already ran away she just fear the old man or maybe not as I can feel her peeking through the shadows.
And by judging Sebas' expression he could too sense her but decided to ignore her.
