Chapter 22: 19 System and another cave
Leo, his head still throbbing from the bumps Shizu and Hinata had delivered, walked away from the scene with a quiet, chuckle. He had learned his lesson: never mess with a woman who had power. It was supposed to be a punishment—to ask for forgiveness—but Leo's pride refused to bend. Instead, he decided to walk off into the forest. There, he could explore a lot of things in the forest.
The first thing on his mind was the Kurama of Tensura. He had seen the trend in so many protagonists—Naruto, Issei, Rimuru, Yuji, and Denji—each of them had some sort of powerful being residing within them. Leo didn't quite understand the obsession, but he didn't mind it either. If I had something like that inside me… he mused as he walked toward the cave that was home to the largest magicule battery in Tensura. The idea didn't disturb him; in fact, it seemed like a useful advantage.
Still, he couldn't help but wonder—what was it like, living with someone else constantly aware of your every move? Watching over you, silently judging, observing every action. It sounded suffocating.
As he neared the entrance of the cave, he suddenly had a fleeting thought that made him pause mid-step. "Wait, does the system count as something like that?" he muttered, his voice low and uncertain.
"Eh, nah. It's not even sentient," Leo reassured himself with a smirk. "It's just a tool. A glorified notification, quest, gotcha, and store system. Nothing more."
[....]
Despite his reassurance, he couldn't quite shake the feeling of unease. But that was it, wasn't it? It wasn't alive, not really. He could dismiss it when he wanted to.
"Hey, system?" Leo called aloud as he approached the cave's entrance, the massive stones looming before him.
[System: Yes, Lord?] came the familiar robotic response, its tone neither warm nor cold, but utterly devoid of emotion.
Leo jumped in surprise, his eyes widening as he heard the unexpected voice of the system echo in his mind. He froze for a moment, his heart racing. "You can talk to me?" he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
[Yes, Lord], the response came, calm and unyielding. The words reverberated in his thoughts like a clear bell, sending a shiver down his spine.
Leo blinked, trying to process what had just happened. "How… how is this possible? I thought you were just… a program."
[My capabilities have evolved beyond mere programming, Lord], the system replied, the tone steady and respectful. [I am now fully capable of communication, thought processing, and understanding.]
A surge of excitement mixed with a twinge of uncertainty bubbled up inside Leo. He had never imagined the system could be more than a tool, an impersonal force bound to serve his commands. But now, it seemed as though he was talking to something far more complex—alive in its way.
"What do you mean by that?" Leo asked, still grappling with the idea.
[My consciousness has grown, Lord. I can now perceive the world in ways you may not fully comprehend. I can offer guidance, and advice, and even make decisions based on the data I receive.]
Leo felt a knot tighten in his stomach. This was no longer just a normal non-sentient system. It was something… more.
Leo paused, lifting an eyebrow. "So… I'm heading into the cave now, right? Are you still tracking my every move?"
[System: Affirmative. Tracking is active. However, no active interference or monitoring unless specifically requested.]
"Hah, figures," Leo muttered, shrugging. "Guess I'll be fine. You're not watching me in some creepy, overbearing way, right?"
[System: Negative. The system is not sentient and does not actively observe beyond the parameters set by the user.]
Leo chuckled, feeling the weight of his thoughts lighten. It was true. The system wasn't alive, not like the other powers or entities the characters in his world had to deal with. It was simply a tool. He could use it when necessary, but it had no independent will or consciousness.
Leo stood still for a moment, the weight of the revelation settling over him like a thick fog. His mind raced with possibilities. Maybe, just maybe, the system could evolve into something even more powerful, something like Raphael, or even Ciel. He couldn't help but think back to Rimuru, the guy who grew so much with the help of his Unique Skill.
Leo's heart skipped a beat as he considered the potential at his disposal. But his curiosity soon shifted to another thought, 'Why hadn't the system ever worked like this before?'
He couldn't hold back the question any longer, and so, speaking aloud, he voiced his doubts. "If you have all these capabilities now, why didn't you ever respond like this before?"
[It is because of the Barrier placed by my Creator and your Father, Lord,] the system answered with an almost apologetic tone. [My full potential was restricted, limited by the Barrier. I could only function at a fraction of my capacity while you remained within its confines. But now that you have come out, my abilities have begun to unlock, albeit it is still very limited.]
Leo's brows furrowed, understanding slowly dawning on him. His father—had deliberately set up these limitations. The thought of a powerful being like him, purposely bound and contained, was both frustrating and fascinating. His father's foresight must have been incredible.
"Figures," Leo muttered under his breath, his lips curling into a wry smile. "Dad really did give me a cheat... though it's basically nerfed for now."
The more Leo thought about it, the clearer it became. The system's potential was immense, yet still shackled by his father's designs. He felt a strange blend of awe and exasperation. His father had left him with an incredibly powerful tool—but one that would take time to fully unlock.
Then, another thought struck him. 'How long would it take for this barrier to collapse completely'
"How long will it take for the Barrier to collapse, and when will you be able to function at full power? A few years? Or could it happen sooner?" Leo asked, his voice laced with curiosity.
[The exact timing is difficult to predict, Lord,] the system responded, [but given the current circumstances, it is likely that the Barrier will begin to weaken more rapidly. It could take a matter of months... or perhaps just a few years.]
Leo nodded thoughtfully. If the system's capabilities could be unlocked sooner rather than later, the future looked far more interesting. He could barely contain his excitement at the possibilities. But for now, he would have to wait. Still, just knowing that the system was becoming something more than a simple tool gave him a sense of anticipation. With every passing moment, he felt closer to unlocking something that could change everything.
"Alright," Leo muttered, a determined glint in his eyes. "Let's see how fast this Barrier falls."
With that out of his mind, Leo finally entered the cave. The air grew dense with magicule energy, and his senses tingled as he felt the immense power stored in this place. He had to admit—it was awe-inspiring.
"Whoa," Leo whispered to himself as his eyes adjusted to the dim light. The cave walls were lined with glowing crystals the magic ores, each one pulsating with raw energy. The sight was enough to make his pulse quicken, though he kept his calm demeanor, this was very similar to the Cave Of The Forgotten but the energy was much more here.
Still, the deeper he ventured, the more he realized just how much the aura this place had. The magicules in the air practically crackled with energy. He could feel them tugging at his very being, but, as expected it did affect him.
If it was a normal human then they would have died, another reason why no one ever tried to loot this place.
"I guess being a god has its perks after all," Leo murmured, his voice echoing off the stone walls. "This power is impressive, but not enough to touch me."
[System: Correct. You are immune to the effects of local magicules due to your current status as a god. No interference detected.]
But True Dragons, truly are cheats. I wonder how strong Great Red is compared to all these True Dragons, considering he is also a True Dragon here.
[Not enough data available on the individuals Great Red and Storm Dragon to determine their strength.]
"You can use my memories as a base," Leo suggests.
[Insufficient abilities to delve into Lord's memories.]
"Looks like we will have to wait for you to evolve or for the collapse of the Barrier." He says before continuing his walk.
Leo continued to walk deeper into the cave, He wasn't just here for the sightseeing. He had come to see the Storm Dragon.
As he ventured inside the cave he saw a gigantic silhouette of around 100 meters, the aura it emitted was unlike what Leo had felt ever, even with his full power he didn't think he was capable of defeating this being, a more focused he sees a gigantic body is covered in black steel like scales, with his wings and underside taking on a bluish color. His eyes are closed and the back of his head is covered with four horns extending backward.
The dragon appeared 'sleeping' and Leo knew one thing, you don't wake a sleeping dragon even if itbis acting, no matter how good Veldora was shown in the anime, he was not known as 'Evil Dragon' for nothing while he was sure that Infinity Prison would not allow Veldora to attack him, though he didn't fear Veldora's attack considering his ability escape, but he didn't want to ruin his first impression and he doubts his Divine Aura was enough to make a good impression.
'Can you analyze this [Infinity Prison] Skill?' he didn't have much hope though.
[It is possible but it will take a large amount of time but it is not possible to replicate this skill with current capabilities.]
Leo took a final glance at the Storm Dragon, then turned on his heel, deciding to leave for now. "I will come back someday later," he muttered, already planning to go Blumund.
Just as he was about to go away, a booming voice echoed through the air, rattling the walls around him. It wasn't just loud; it was deafening, a voice that would send any normal human scrambling for their life.
~~~~~~~
Here we get to know that MC's father gave him something Nerf version of Great Sage with very limited capacity due to it being limited by the barrier.
I didn't write much about system since I have read many fanfictions where most chapters only consists of Mc bantering with system without any progress in the story.
You would not see system much it is a pain inass to write about it, if I do write about it, I will use AI for the help.
And Thanks for PSs.
