Chapter 18: Snippet-1: Naruto Fugaku SI FanFic:- Chapter 7
7. The New Hokage.
│1st Person POV of Uchiha Fugaku│
[The Land of Fire, Village Hidden in the Leaf (Konohagakure), Uchiha Clan Compound...]
I can't believe my plan worked. I gained the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan so easily.
Turning away from the mirror, I met Mikoto's gaze and said, "Look closely—my eyes have changed."
She stepped forward, scrutinizing them carefully before nodding. "Yes, they have. Let me examine their condition."
I remained still as Mikoto meticulously assessed my eyes, documenting the changes to compare them with her previous notes. The process took only a few minutes, but just as she finished, the Senshin Kekkai (Emotion-Sensing Barrier) I had deployed earlier alerted me to a presence breaching its perimeter.
I quickly stopped supplying chakra to my eyes, reverting them back to their base state.
"Fugaku-sama, an urgent situation has arisen in the village," a voice called from beyond the secret room's door.
Mikoto and I exchanged a quick glance before straightening ourselves. Once ready, we approached the door and opened it, revealing Uchiha Hikaku standing outside. Upon noticing me, he offered a slight bow.
"What happened?" I asked immediately.
Straightening up, Hikaku swiftly explained, "An ANBU delivered a message—Sandaime-sama has called for an emergency council meeting. Everyone is ordered to assemble in the Hokage's office within the next half hour."
"An emergency meeting now…?" My mind started racing through possible reasons for Hiruzen's sudden summons. However, Hikaku didn't give me long to ponder as he continued.
"Additionally, an Uchiha Chunin reported sighting Jiraiya entering the village. He was accompanied by two women who, based on the Chunin's description, are likely Senju Tsunade and Kato Shizune."
Hearing this, I couldn't help but ask to confirm his guess. "Was one of the women carrying a pig?"
Hikaku nodded, though a hint of confusion flickered across his face.
"So soon?" I muttered, surprised. I hadn't expected Jiraiya to locate Tsunade and convince her to return in just two weeks. I thought it would take at least two or three weeks more.
Pushing aside those thoughts, I met Hikaku's gaze and gave my order. "Alright, you can go now. Inform the ANBU that I'll be heading to the Hokage's office in a few minutes."
"Yes!" Hikaku bowed before swiftly exiting the Naka Shrine.
Once he was out of sight, I turned to Mikoto and said, "I am going to the meeting. It may take me some time to return as I feel like I will be asked to stay after the meeting."
"Go, and if it isn't necessary, please don't use your Sharingan until I confirm that there's nothing wrong with your eyes by comparing the notes." Mikoto said, and nodded before both of us exited the secret room.
This upcoming meeting would be crucial to determine the fate of Konoha and more importantly, the fate of the Uchiha Clan. I prepared myself and strode out of the Naka Shrine.

│3rd Person POV │
[The Land of Fire, Village Hidden in the Leaf (Konohagakure), Hokage Office...]
Sarutobi Hiruzen sat at the head of the long council table, flanked by his advisors, while the remaining council members occupied their designated seats.
At that moment, nearly everyone in the room was discreetly observing the blonde woman seated in the chair reserved for the Senju Clan Head. With Senju Tsunade present, it was clear to all why the Third Hokage had called this urgent meeting.
Hiruzen finally broke the silence with a measured tone. "Now that everyone is present, we can begin." His gaze swept across the room before settling on Tsunade. "Before we proceed, I believe an introduction is in order."
Tsunade exhaled sharply, her fingers drumming impatiently against the table. "Spare me the formalities, old man," she said bluntly. "Everyone here knows who I am, and why I'm back."
A few clan heads exchanged looks, but Tsunade paid them no mind as she continued. "You all want me to be the Fifth Hoakge and lead the village. However, let me tell you something very clearly. I—"
Before she could finish, Uchiha Fugaku interjected in a calm voice, "Before you complete that sentence, I have something to say, Senju-dono."
Tsunade's eyes snapped to him, her expression immediately darkening with irritation. She didn't like to be interrupted, not to mention that Fugaku was the one who put forth the idea of appointing her as the Fifth Hokage in the first place.
Fugaku met her gaze without hesitation, unfazed by her displeasure. Without acknowledging the hostility in her stare, he pressed on, "The village is in a precarious state. Before we even had a chance to recover from the losses of the Third Great Ninja War, the Kyuubi attack struck, further depleting our shinobi forces."
He let his words settle for a moment before continuing. "Just days ago, reports came in from the border—Kumo shinobi have been sighted in the Land of Hot Springs. There's no telling when they might seize the opportunity to launch an attack. And as for Iwa…
"There is no guarantee they will honor the peace treaty. Given our current vulnerabilities, it would not be surprising if they attempted to exploit the situation."
Pausing for a moment, Fugaku looked at Hiruzen and his advisors before turning his gaze back to Tsuande and continued, "I will be blunt, Senju-dono; I no longer trust Sandaime-sama or his advisors to make the right decisions regarding the future of this village."
The sharp declaration sent a ripple through the room.
"How dare you, Uchiha Fugaku!" Danzo's voice thundered, and his single visible eye burned with barely restrained fury.
"I dare, Elder Danzo!" Fugaku didn't shout, however, everyone felt the clear challenge in words and action as he looked at Danzo with his Three-Tomoe Sharingan blazing.
"Your actions and treatment of my clan make one thing abundantly clear—if given the opportunity, you wouldn't hesitate to take drastic measures against us. And knowing you, I have no doubt that you would go to any lengths to create such an opportunity."
Danzo's voice was sharp with indignation as he retorted, "Don't slander me with baseless accusations, Fugaku! Every action I have taken has been in service to Konoha, with the village's best interests at heart!"
"Hmph." Fugaku scoffed, his expression filled with disdain. "Baseless accusations? You deployed ROOT operatives to prevent us from aiding in the battle against the Kyuubi, then attempted to shift the blame for the attack onto my clan. Are those not clear enough signs of your hostility?"
He let the words hang in the air for a moment before continuing.
"And just now, you claimed that every decision you've made has been for the good of the village. Tell me, Elder Danzo—what happens if one day you decide that Konoha would be better off without the Uchiha?"
A chill ran down everyone's spine at Fugaku's words, the weight of his accusation settling over the room like a suffocating fog. There was a chilling certainty in his voice that made even those who usually remained neutral in such matters consider the possibility that Fugaku's words could very well become reality.
Danzo's expression darkened, but before he could say anything, Fugaku continued, "Anyway, I don't want to argue with you right now, Elder Danzo. Don't interrupt me again until I finish saying my piece to Senju-done."
Shifting his focus back to Tsunade, Fugaku resumed, speaking in a resolute tone of voice, "As I was saying, I no longer trust the Third Hokage or his advisors to make the right decisions for Konoha's future.
"Sandaime-sama has led this village for decades, yet under his leadership, we have suffered loss after loss. We failed to protect our ally, Uzushio, when it was besieged during the Second Great Ninja War, despite our supposed close ties.
"Then there's Hatake Sakumo—a shinobi of extraordinary skill and loyalty—who was driven to take his own life after being ostracized for abandoning a mission to save his comrades. This was a mission deemed highly classified, yet somehow, details of his supposed 'failure' spread throughout the village like wildfire.
"How did such sensitive information become public knowledge in the first place? I strongly suspect that one of the Elders was responsible for that leak.
"And let's not forget," Fugaku continued, his tone sharpening, "Sandaime-sama has always preached the values of teamwork and the Will of Fire, especially in his speeches at the Academy. If he truly believed in those ideals, then why did he allow Sakumo-san to be vilified? Why did he stand by and do nothing while civilians and even lower-ranked shinobi drove a hero of this village to despair?
"The answer is simple—he lacked the resolve to act against the one responsible for leaking the mission details. And there are only a select few individuals against whom Sandaime-sama would hesitate to take decisive action.
"That is why…" Fugaku looked at Tsunade with an intense gaze as he said, "That is why we need someone decisive and strong to take the mantle of Hokage during this perilous time."
Leaning forward slightly, Fugaku's voice carried undeniable weight as he stated, "You, Senju Tsunade, are the best choice for Hokage. At the very least, I know you wouldn't stand by and watch the village your grandfather built fall into further decline. Unless, of course, you doubt your own ability to shoulder the responsibilities of the position."
Tsunade, who had remained silent until now, narrowed her eyes at him. "You certainly have a way with words, Uchiha-san; managing to stir both guilt and pride in a single breath."
Fugaku remained unfazed, meeting her gaze without hesitation. "I am merely speaking the truth. Right now, Konoha needs a leader who will bring real change; someone who refuses to let history repeat itself."
Tsunade exhaled sharply, leaning back in her chair as she crossed her arms. "And you believe I'm that person?"
"I do," Fugaku affirmed without hesitation, "Because you understand the weight of loss. You've seen firsthand the cost of war, the consequences of complacency. And despite everything, you are still a Senju—the legacy of those who built this village from nothing."
Tsunade scoffed, shaking her head, "Flattery won't get you anywhere, Fugaku. If anything, it only reminds me of how much this village has taken from me."
Fugaku's expression didn't change as he pressed on, "That is exactly why you should lead. You understand the weight of loss—you have carried grief for decades, mourning those who are gone.
"Tell me, Senju-dono, haven't you ever wondered if things would have been different had your proposal for a medical-nin in every squad been accepted? If that policy had been in place back then, perhaps your loved ones might still be alive today.
"As the Fifth Hokage, you would have the power to implement such reforms yourself, ensuring that no one else suffers the same regrets. And with the right approach, I have no doubt that the Daimyo would readily provide financial support—especially considering that he holds the Senju Clan in high regard because of your grandfather."
Silence settled over the room for a few moments as his words hung in the air.
Hiruzen, who had remained quiet throughout their exchange, finally spoke. "Tsunade… I agree with Fugaku that Konoha needs you. Now more than ever."
Her gaze flickered to him, searching for any sign of deception, but she found none. Only an old man weighed down by years of mistakes and regrets.
'He didn't even say anything in defence of himself or his friends.' Thought Tsunade. Her gaze went back to Fugaku, who was watching with an unreadable expression.
Somehow, that only aggravated her further. It felt as if he was silently challenging her, daring her to turn away.
Bang—!
Suddenly, a loud crack split the tense silence as she slammed her palm on the table, nearly breaking it in half. "Fine!" she snapped, "You want me to be the Hokage? I accept.
"However," she continued, her voice unwavering, "there will be conditions. I refuse to step into this role if I am expected to be a puppet or inherit the same broken system that has led Konoha to its current state."
Danzo scowled. "Conditions? Becoming Hokage is not a negotiation, Senju Tsunade."
CRACK—!
The table splintered beneath her fingertips as Tsunade's chakra flared dangerously. "I wasn't negotiating, Danzo," she said, her eyes burning with authority. "If I'm going to lead, I will do it my way."
She straightened, crossing her arms. "First, I want full access to all classified reports regarding the village's current state, including military strength, financial records, and any secret operations that have been conducted under Hiruzen's tenure." Her gaze hardened. "No information is to be withheld from me."
Hiruzen hesitated for only a moment before nodding. "There's no problem with that."
Danzo's fingers curled into a fist inside his long sleeve, but he chose to remain silent at the moment.
"Second," Tsunade continued, "ROOT is to be officially dissolved."
Danzo immediately stood. "That is out of the question! ROOT exists to protect Konoha from threats beyond the understanding of conventional forces. You cannot disband it on a whim!"
Tsunade met his glare head-on. "ROOT is a rogue organization that has operated in the shadows with little to no oversight, and I won't allow that to continue under my leadership." She crossed her arms. "All the Shinobi of Konoha will answer to Hokage and no one else; not even you, Danzo."
Hiruzen sighed. "Tsunade, ROOT's dissolution has been debated before—"
"No." Tusnade interrupted her sensei in a firm voice, "No more debates. I'm not going to be a figurehead while Danzo and his pet operatives continue working in the dark. Either ROOT is dismantled, or I walk away from this right now."
Danzo's jaw tightened as he couldn't find any words to change Tsunade's mind.
After a long pause, Hiruzen finally spoke. "ROOT will be officially disbanded."
Danzo's hands trembled slightly, his frustration barely concealed, but he didn't continue to oppose now that Hiruzen had given in. Instead, he silently cursed the Uchiha, especially Uchiha Fugaku, in his mind. Things wouldn't have become like this if he and the Uchiha Clan didn't exist in the first place.
"Good," Tsunade said, then turned to Fugaku. "And as for you… What exactly do you want out of this?"
Fugaku answered calmly, "I want nothing other than Konoha's prosperity and a peaceful future where my children can grow up without facing any problem."
Tsunade studied him for a moment before sighing, "Alright, let's continue our conversation once the meeting is over. We still have something to talk about after all."
Fugaku nodded without saying anything.
"Then, as previously decided and with the agreement of most of the Jonins of the village, Senju Tsunade is chosen as the Godaime Hokage. We will begin preparations for your inauguration, Godaime Hokage." Hiruzen announced, offering a tired but heartfelt smile to her.
A murmur rippled through the room as Hiruzen's words settled in. Tsunade, on the other hand, merely sighed and leaned back on her chair, muttering under her breath, "Damn it, I need a drink."

Author's Note: Did it feel like Tsuande accepted the position of Godaime Hokage too easily, too soon?
Don't worry as I do intend to post a chapter containing a small flashback, showing how Jiraiya 'convinced' her to come back and how that conversation led her to accept the position eventually.
So, please be patient with me.
