Chakra Thirst

Chapter 71: Dark Escape

Killer B was in his private training ground, a privilege granted due to his connection with the Raikage and his status as a perfect jinchuriki.

The fact that he was far enough and isolated enough so that his continuous songs wouldn't bother anyone might have also played a role, but he was happy to practice at his leisure and fine-tune his rhythms before his debut concerts.

Hmm, it had been a month since the last one, he should do another soon…

"Yo~ Yo~ Yo~ Fly like a butterfly and sting like a bee, yeah!"

While the jinchuriki was practicing his extravagant seven-sword style, his tailed beast couldn't help but comment on his thoughts.

"Hey B, are you sure we shouldn't go take a look?" Gyuki asked, somewhat bored of listening to him rap again. "That chakra burst just now didn't seem like a small thing."

"Forget it, Bakayaro! Konoyaro!" Killer B replied as he stopped moving and took a breath. "You felt it, Yugito was fighting and it's already over, so I don't have to do anything. If I go now, I'll just get a beating later!"

He shuddered at the memory of the Raikage using his lightning armor mode to spank him like when they were kids every time he snuck out, leaving a lasting trauma to think twice before trying it again.

"No, something is definitely wrong," Gyuki disagreed with his jinchuriki. "The fight seemed to last too short, and when it concluded, Matatabi's chakra didn't fade; it disappeared!"

Killer B stopped clowning around and put on a serious expression.

"So it's not just a random attack, and they're targeting jinchurikis?"

"I think it's quite likely. I don't feel Matatabi anywhere," Gyuki wouldn't say it out loud, but he was worried about his "little sister," as Matatabi always identified as female. "It's not even a seal; it's like she's been isolated dimensionally or something. Better be cautious."

This made Killer B go silent and turn his head to look in the direction of the village.

"Do you think I can't notice you sneaking up on me? Bakayaro! Konoyaro!" Despite his usual words and gestures, Killer B's muscles were tense and ready to fight.

"Be careful!" Gyuki also took on a cautious stance, one rarely seen by his jinchuriki. "I have a very bad feeling."

"Amazing, I didn't expect you to notice me," Takara revealed himself without pretension, levitating a couple of meters off the ground with his hands behind his back, examining with interest how Killer B held his seven swords. "If Zoro were here, he'd be so envious."

"Did you come to have a rap battle with me, the king?" Killer B asked. "Because you're gonna lose, loser!"

And who the hell was Zoro? He sounded like someone with poor sense of direction.

"For someone who's into rhymes, your talent with words is simply poor," Takara replied dryly, unimpressed.

Killer B looked as if he'd been told his mother was killed, his eyes scanning the needle sword at Takara's waist.

"How about we have a sword fight since you came all the way here?" Killer B adjusted his muscles to better grip the swords in his joints.

Though common sense told him to sprout some tentacles and crush him outright, he was cautious and preferred to buy time, knowing that the commotion would be noticed once he started fighting.

Perhaps the training ground was acoustically isolated, but the chakra fluctuations should alert the nearest sentinels.

And with the village on alert for whatever was happening down there, they should check here soon.

Takara tilted his head to the right and remained silent for a few seconds before nodding.

"Sure, but I think I should even the score."

Killer B didn't understand what the enemy meant, but something in the mummy before him changed, and black orbs began to appear on his back, spinning in a circle. Moments later, the orbs started to stretch and thin out until they became perfect imitations of the needle sword at his waist, completely black and under his control.

"Impossible!" Gyuki shouted when he recognized the black orbs.

"Are those Truth-Seeking Balls?!"

"Are they troublesome?" Killer B asked, distrusting that the other party decided to play along.

"Run, B!" Gyuki shouted, more scared than ever. "Don't let that guy catch you, or we're dead, very dead!"

He didn't expect anyone to be able to use those after his father's death!

Make a bijudama?

That thing wouldn't even budge when turned into a barrier!

Killer B was quite bewildered by Gyuki's alarmed voice, unconsciously taking a few steps back to gain distance.

"Where do you think you're going?" Takara asked as he closed the distance and the black needle swords around him started spinning at high speed, like a drill. "Let's start this showdown!"

Killer B got goosebumps and immediately activated his complementary technique.

"Super Vibrating Sword!"

Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank!

He intercepted every cut and thrust of the black needle swords, and in less than two minutes, he was already sweating with three swords broken.

What the hell, why are these things so tough?

"No, I have to retreat until reinforcements arrive!" He delivered a strong blow so the counterforce would push him back at the cost of another broken sword, and his cheeks puffed up.

"Ink Saliva!"

Takara frowned and transformed one of the swords into a barrier to shield himself from the dark liquid.

He knew Killer B had a sealing technique related to the ink, and although it took at least three seconds to complete, he wasn't going to get stained and give him the chance.

By the time the attack ended and he removed the barrier, Killer B had started running towards the village outskirts.

Takara followed while flying but didn't expect that just as he started descending, Killer B would turn around with his arm extended and hear a voice behind him.

"Double Lariat!"
