Chapter 64: Revelation.
Chapter 64: Revelation.
*Ria’s POV*
Revealing what I was to Celia, was the best thing that I’ve ever done. It was so fun to be with her. Taking some words from the woman herself, Celia’s reactions were always enjoyable to see.
I only wished that I had a similar relationship with Amelie. But she seemed to be stuck on avoiding me as much as possible. Most likely so that she is less likely to finally fall for me. All the better, as I still wouldn’t accept her love. I still see her as just a little too young.
Though, more mature than most her age. I’d say that I will be comfortable being in a romantic relationship with her when she reaches around 500 years of age. Celia, on the other hand, I might have to wait until she is a little over 1000 years old…
But I am sure that I will still enjoy my time with her as a friend, rather than as her spouse. What was even better, was that she seemed to not be against being in a relationship with me at all. Which made me quite happy. So happy, that I might even accept her at a young age…
Not anytime soon, mind you. But maybe when she is around 600 years of age. Or something along those lines. It hadn’t been long, but my days with her were very happy.
Though, a certain problem cropped up. A reborn death Goddess… She approached Celia, and declared that she would be her wife in the future… What she said, caused Lia and I to get decently angry with this woman thief. Look at her… flaunting her assets to Celia. What’s worse, is that her charms clearly worked on Celia…
I told Celia that I would investigate her, but there was no reason for me to do so. Death Gods and Goddesses can see the future. If she says that Celia will marry her in the future, then it will definitely happen…
She looked to be a human, but was clearly a Goddess. It was slightly hard to place where she came from, but with her name, I knew where that was. Which meant that I also could guess how she might come to know about Celia… But that is for another time.
The girl, probably seeing the hostility from Lia and I, quickly left. Which was good, and Celia went back to doing funny things. Such as confessing to Lia about how she can use a System.
It all worked out in the end, but Lia got curious about my Status. Of course, no one should look at such a Status, so I shut that down quickly. Would you care to see it? Too bad! It’s not like I have a System anyway. And, with just a mere glimpse of it, I am sure that it would make anyone give up on getting stronger. As they would never be able to go against me at all.
I do not know if Celia will ever admit to it, but she is quite similar to me. Like how she finds causing girls to make various reactions, to be very amusing, and how ruthless she is to her enemies. Her messing with one of her teachers, was truly almost the highlight of that certain day.
Before we left her dungeon, Celia almost fell, but I caught her in time. Can’t let my future wife get hurt now, can I? I can’t. At least, as long as I have a say in it. Despite how normal I made it seem, she was very close to death after she consumed that Mana Crystal…
Anyway, as I examined her body, I found out the cause of her illness. That death Goddess… she marked Celia. Though, I didn’t even notice her do such a thing… The reason for Celia falling ill, is because the mark is beginning to manifest.
In the long run, such a mark will help her. But in the short run, it pisses me off that a random girl touched my woman! Lia is the only exception, as I can see her and Celia becoming a couple. Which I fully support, as they truly fit each other quite well.
I then asked Celia a very selfish request, that is, for me to mark her as well. Marking does many things, one of which is learning all about the person, or being that you marked. As such, that Orphenia, most certainly knows everything about Celia now…
I wanted that as well... It was a sad day, for a being like me, that is well over 500,000 thousand years old, to act like a jealous woman… Maybe it could have been seen as me taking advantage of her, with her in a sickened state and all, but she did agree to let me mark her.
So I did. And I was shocked, to say the least… I managed to pretend to stay calm, though, and took Celia back to her room. I made sure that she was comfortable, and then with her consent, cast sleeping magic upon her. Once she was sound asleep, I broke down in tears…
It was me… I was the one who caused her death… No wonder it felt like I knew her already. I lived in her camp, and I fought and survived with her…
And I also brought upon that camp its doom… Some day… I will have to tell her this… It wouldn’t be right to hide such a thing. But I will hide it until I ask for her hand in marriage.
It’s not like we had a special relationship at that camp, but I at least knew her to some degree. The reason her hard work was destroyed, was because of me.
One day, I noticed a higher being in the area. Such beings tended to be hard to notice, as monsters started randomly appearing around the world.
But that Goddess was strong. Nowhere near as strong as me. The proof of that was that I was able to kill her in the end. It wasn’t my intention, but while we fought, we ended up coming to Celia’s camp. A fight between beings of our power, would only end in the destruction of the general area, of wherever said battle actually took place.
Upon seeing the place in ruins, some of which were my fault, I did feel somewhat sad. The remaining humans of that era, they worked quite hard to stay alive in a world ravaged by higher beings like me. As I looked at Celia’s original body, I did feel a tinge of regret within my heart.
I thought that I could at least give her soul a restful afterlife, but by the time the fight was over, and that I made it to her body, her soul was already gone. I should have realized that something wrong happened at that time… Since her soul left her body far quicker than it should have.
Regretting all of this, will not do me any good at all. One day, I shall own up to it. But for many years until then, I shall enjoy my time with Celia. If she wishes to kill me when I reveal the truth to her, I will let her do so with a smile on my face. That is the least I could do to make up for getting her killed all of those years ago…
