Celestial Grimoire: Sanctuary of the Exile

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

I look at the book in front of me in frustration. I don't know how to activate it. It has been two days since it was activated when I bought something from the shop, and this thing has never opened up since that day.

At least I learned something about this book. This thing cannot be seen by anyone other than me. I don't know if this affects someone VERY strong but for now, this thing cannot be seen by anyone other than me. Lastly, this thing will appear whenever it thinks I deserve some power.

I open the book's first page, the only thing I can open, and see the picture of a set of clothes on the page. I touch the picture and think of taking out the clothes. A second later, they appear on the table.

I know them. They look familiar.

I put them on and feel warm after putting the clothes on. The headpiece does not obscure my sight, and I walk to the mirror to look at myself. I blink a second when I see my reflection.

"This is from Dark Souls!"

I remember it now! That is why that name sounds familiar. The white crown that covers my eyes is the one that finally makes something click in my brain. According to the Grimoire, this thing will give resistance against fire, curse, and the dark. I don't know about the last one, but the first two are great.

This will be perfect for me at the moment. The reason? Seal Training. Drawing a line is hard, and the more complicated the seal formation is, the harder it gets. The sealing technique is also dangerous because it can combust if your line is not good enough.

I already burned three tables while training the sealing technique.

However, I can guarantee I will not get burned with these clothes on my body. I cannot guarantee the tables or the house, though.

I shake my head and grab my writing tools. I am lucky that I have taken up art study as my degree because they teach calligraphy as one of the art classes. However, even with that experience, I still have a lot of trouble making a proper seal.

I open up a book and start to write. The Sealing Technique did not use regular language. They are using the language of the gods. The first language the Primordial Gods use when they are first born into the world.

At the moment, I am using the Celestial Language of Japan. Izanami and Izanagi are the ones creating this language, and it contains power.

I move my brush and create a symbol for fire. Alone, it can be used as a fire starter as it will burn the paper you write it on if you rip the scroll. However, writing a second word underneath it will create a fireball that I can throw at my enemy. It was a symbol of harmony. This symbol is used for many seal formations because of its stabilization properties. Lastly, I added a symbol of destruction and created an explosion tag.

I rip the paper and smear the ink around the edge of the paper. I wait for it to explode, but seeing it only shine and do nothing else, I know that it is done.

My tenth explosive tag. Now, I only need to write them on a special paper and make the explosion bigger. Should I buy some? Regular paper is a sealing technique, but the result will be much weaker than when you write your seal on a special paper. That is why regular paper is perfect for training.

I get up and ready to revisit the youkai village, but the Grimoire appears before me before I can do that. The book opens, and I can see the page flip before it stops a few seconds later. Light shoots out of the book, and I absorb that light.

A rush of knowledge appears in my head, and I see the book close.

This power is great. Every spell I cast or create will last as long as that spell can last. What it means is that if a spell usually lasts for a minute, it will not last for ten minutes. All of my spells will be so efficient that it will last longer than it should be.

That includes all my seal creations. I smile a little, change my clothes, and quickly leave my home. I need to test this power now. I get into my car and drive to that village.

"It is working!"

I cannot help but shout in happiness. The paper in front of me burns for half an hour before it finally goes away. I change the last line from destruction to everlasting to increase the duration of the fire to ten minutes.

I quickly open the basic seal formation book and flip to the 54th page.

"Yang Barrier Seal"

With this, I can have a basic barrier around my house that will notify me if someone walks through it, and if I activate it, it will create a solid barrier that can block some attacks. It is not powerful, but it is something.

Not only that, but I also hope that if I manage to create the barrier, I will gain more power. I get one after making a seal in one try, and if I can create another seal in one try, I will get another one.

I eagerly take out a training book and start writing. The words for the basic barrier are the words for Earth, Eyes, and Nature. I look at the book and begin to write. Unlike the explosion tag, I need to write the formation in a circle instead of a vertical pattern.

I write the words one by one but in a careful manner, and after five minutes of writing, I nod and take a deep breath.

Please let this work.

I rip the paper and see it shine a little, but instead of settling down, the paper bursts into flame and burns the table. I quickly take the glass of water nearby and throw the water at the fire before it spreads.

I release a sigh of disappointment because I do not get new power. I put down a brush and push the training book away. I will continue to train my writing with the explosive tag for now.

However, before I can take the Sealing Books, my Grimoire appears once again. It opens up and starts to flip to a certain page of the book. I wait with expectation, but instead of shining and absorbing the power, the book closes up, and I do not get anything.

I blink for a few seconds and can only utter one word.

"What?"

[1100 Words]

{Perk on the list}

Persistent Casting (The Owl House) [100 Points – Buy]

You're skilled at pushing the duration of your spells as far as they can go. Your spells don't take any less energy to start up, but they are incredibly efficient once they get rolling. Minute-long spells last hours and hour-long workings can last days when it comes to your spellcraft. With enough planning and preparation, you could even construct a spell so solidly that it would last until dispelled.

Coveted Jewel (MtG - Ixalan) [400 Points – Failed to Buy] [Points Banked]

A powerful artifact, created as a source of mana for the construction of Orazca. It acts as a small archive of a number of the spells and construction techniques used for the creation of crystalline mana amplifiers, and studying it is likely to get you a great amount of insight - what's more, it in itself can amplify the mana ambient to a land to much greater than its usual output, though as a consequence, this disruption and surge of mana is easily felt by any magic users who are within the lands being tapped into for power - the jewel has often changed hands due to this, though with proper vigilance, one could easily hold onto it and wield its power with impunity - surely, nothing could challenge your might.
