Can't let it go

Chapter 21: Chapter Twenty: A Turning Point

The office felt different that morning. There was a buzz in the air, an undercurrent of anticipation that Lu Xiao couldn't quite place. She walked through the familiar halls, her heels clicking against the polished floors, and tried to ignore the lingering stares from her colleagues.

Today was the day Lei Han had planned to turn the tide.

When she entered his office, she found him seated at his desk, his expression sharp and focused. A large monitor displayed a series of graphs and documents, evidence painstakingly gathered to dismantle Chen Wei's lies.

"Good morning," she said softly.

Lei Han looked up, his features softening when he saw her. "Good morning, Lu Xiao. Did you sleep well?"

"Well enough," she replied, taking a seat across from him. "You?"

He smiled faintly. "I'll sleep better once this is all behind us."

---

The morning passed in a blur of meetings and preparations. Lei Han's legal and PR teams worked tirelessly, fine-tuning their strategy for the press conference scheduled later that afternoon. It was a bold move, but Lei Han was determined to address the rumors head-on and expose Chen Wei's schemes for the world to see.

Lu Xiao remained at his side, offering support wherever she could. Though her role was small, she knew her presence gave Lei Han strength, just as his unwavering confidence inspired her.

"Are you ready for this?" she asked during a quiet moment in his office.

"As ready as I'll ever be," he replied, his gaze steady. "This isn't just about clearing my name or protecting the company. It's about standing up for the truth."

She nodded, her heart swelling with pride. "I believe in you, Lei. We all do."

---

By the time the press conference began, the tension in the air was palpable. The room was packed with reporters, their cameras trained on the podium where Lei Han would soon speak. Lu Xiao stood off to the side, her hands clasped tightly in front of her as she watched him prepare.

When Lei Han stepped onto the stage, the room fell silent. He exuded confidence, his presence commanding as he addressed the audience.

"Good afternoon," he began, his voice calm but firm. "I have called this press conference to address the recent allegations made against me, my company, and my employees. These accusations are not only false but are part of a calculated attempt to tarnish our reputation."

He went on to present the evidence his team had gathered, methodically dismantling the lies spread by Chen Wei. As he spoke, Lu Xiao felt a sense of awe. This was the man she loved—strong, fearless, and unwavering in his pursuit of justice.

By the time Lei Han finished speaking, the reporters were left with no room for doubt. The truth was clear, and the narrative had shifted in their favor.

---

After the press conference, Lu Xiao found Lei Han in his office, staring out the window. She approached him quietly, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"You were incredible," she said softly.

He turned to her, a weary but satisfied smile on his face. "I couldn't have done it without you, Lu Xiao. Your support means everything to me."

Her heart ached with love for him. "We're a team, Lei. We always have been."

He stepped closer, taking her hands in his. "I don't know what I did to deserve you, but I'm grateful every day that you're by my side."

Tears pricked at her eyes, but she blinked them away, a smile spreading across her face. "And I'm grateful for you. No matter what happens, I'll always stand with you."

---

That evening, as Lu Xiao left the office, she felt a sense of hope she hadn't felt in weeks. The battle with Chen Wei was far from over, but today had been a victory—a reminder that truth and love could withstand even the darkest of storms.

As she looked up at the night sky, a single thought crossed her mind:

With Lei Han by her side, there was nothing she couldn't face.
