Call of duty one shots

Chapter 32: Price X Y/N

As the golden hue of the autumn sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows through the living room window, Y/N stepped into her cozy home. The faint sound of gunfire emanating from the television greeted her like a familiar old friend, accompanied by a low, gravelly voice that made her heart swell—her husband, was ensconced on the couch, rifle still in hand but currently momentarily forgotten in favor of the latest military documentary.

"Home early today, love?" Price turned his head just slightly, the corner of his mouth twitching into a smile as he felt her presence. She rushed forward, wrapping her arms around his neck and planting a soft kiss on his cheek.

"Always a pleasure to see you, Captain," Y/N teased, settling herself comfortably on his lap. The warmth of his body beneath her felt as reassuring as any close-quarters battle could be.

"More like a pleasure to have you back," he replied, a hint of humor dancing in his deep blue eyes. "What's on your mind?"

Y/N shifted slightly, her fingers tracing patterns on the shoulder of his faded green shirt. "You know, with November starting, I had an idea. How about we do something... challenging?"

Price raised an eyebrow, intrigued yet cautious. "What kind of challenge are we talking about here?"

"NNN," she replied, the abbreviation hanging in the air.

"NNN? Sounds like some kind of ops code. Care to decode it for me?"

She chuckled, leaning closer. "No Nut November. It's a challenge where you try to abstain for the entire month. I thought it would be fun to do it together."

He looked stunned for a moment, his military mind racing. "You sure about that? We've got a lot on our plates, and you know I—"

"I do know, but it could be a good way to bond, to test our willpower," she insisted, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "What do you say? Teamwork?"

After a moment of hesitation, Price sighed dramatically, a smile breaking free. "Alright, then. Consider it a mission—Operation No Nut November initiated."

As the days rolled into weeks, their lives fell into a comfortable rhythm. Price continued to work long hours, often returning home late, while Y/N filled her days with work and domestic tasks. They enjoyed their regular routine, peppered with moments of laughter and intense video game competitions. For the first couple of weeks, the challenge seemed merely an amusing novelty, a shared joke that brought them closer.

But as the calendar turned and the days dragged on, the mental strain started to creep in. Price's brow furrowed in concentration during their late-night gaming sessions, a breath away from distraction. Y/N noticed the little things: the way his hand clenched the controller tightly or how he would steal longing glances across the room. It was as if he was waging war not only against the virtual enemies on the screen but against the very essence of his own instincts.

One evening, after Y/N had cooked a hearty dinner, they settled on the couch to watch a movie. Price tried to focus on the film, but his mind was elsewhere. Y/N could feel the tension radiating off him. Midway through, he turned to her, his voice low and serious. "You know, this mission is harder than I thought it'd be."

She laughed softly, turning to face him. "You're Captain Price; aren't you supposed to be a master strategist? You can overcome anything!"

"Against terrorists, sure. But this... this is different. It's like taking a soldier's gear away and expecting him to survive the field."

Y/N leaned in, brushing her lips against his cheek. "You said teamwork, remember? We're in this together, John. We can do it."

His eyes sparkled with gratefulness; she could see the soldier within him battling with the man he was at home. "Right. Together."

As November dragged on, the challenge became an unwritten tension in their household. Laughter filled their home and clandestine glances ignited a spark between them. Each night, they would walk the fine line of respect and desire, making their end-of-day come-together more electric, more charged.

Then came the last week of November, and the pressure had mounted to a breaking point. Y/N was exhausted, both mentally and emotionally. She had feared they might slip up, might break the promise they made, but amidst it all was a sense of accomplishment. However, the night of November 30th felt feverish with the anticipation of release.

As they sat on the couch, the final minutes of the month ticking away on the clock, Y/N caught Price's gaze. The air was thick with unspoken words; each held their own secrets and regrets born of patience. "Are you ready for this operation to end?" she whispered, her voice barely above a murmur.

"I've been ready since the 1st," he replied, letting out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

As the clock struck midnight, they surrendered; the mission was a success, but the battle of unrelenting longing each week had solidified an unbreakable bond between them.

With a chuckle, Price drew Y/N close, enveloping her in his embrace. "Never again. Not until the next mission, anyway."

Yet even through the challenge, they realized what it meant to be partners in every form. Their bond was forged not simply in shared victories but also in the wild adventures of life, even through the trials of a seemingly simple challenge. These were the moments they would carry in their hearts long after the mission had ended.
