Call me Bella: Alpha’s Fated Mate

Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Isabella Martini - POV

Sofia scanned the ballroom knowing very well that even though we whispered, people could still hear us. "Arlo was not meant to be the alpha of this pack, Bella," Sofia said as she leaned a little closer to me. "Arlo was having problems with controlling his wolf from a young age. All I can remember is how Luna Stella would always try to protect her younger son from alpha Bianchi."

"Why did Arlo need protection from his own father?" I asked her, extremely confused with the complexity of Arlo's family history.

"I don't know, I was still small at that time. But as far as I know, they never got along. And he always hated his older brother."

"Wait, Arlo had siblings?" I asked Sofia, and she nodded her head.

"An older brother and a younger sister. Well, his sister went missing a long time ago, but I cannot say the same about his brother."

"What happened to him?" I asked her, and she finally turned around to face me with a small smile on her face.

"If I knew, I would have told you. No one knows what happened except Luna Stella and Alpha Bianchi. But ever since the death of his older brother, Alpha Bianchi grew more hostile towards Arlo." she explained while I looked ahead at the crowd in the ballroom when I spotted Arlo talking with Jacob. Even though every member of his pack respects him, I can see that there is a certain fear lingering in the air. No one dared to go and talk to their alpha as they kept their heads down and talked among themselves.

"So is it true that Alpha Bianchi died in a car crash?" I asked Sofia because now I don't even know what is the truth and what is not. No one has ever heard that Arlo had an older brother because the Black Knight pack didn't really enjoy leaking their information to the other packs.

Whenever there was an annual ball or meeting, all I heard was that it would only be the Alpha and Luna of the black Knight pack who would be attending such events, but after the death of both of them, there was no one from the Black Knight pack coming to such events.

"Yes, but you know werewolves, especially alphas, cannot be killed that easily. No one knows what really happened because the moment word got in the car that the alpha and Luna were traveling in met with an accident, Arlo left the pack, but he came back home alone, covered in blood, and a changed man." Sofia finished while my mind was trying to process everything that I just heard.

"Bella," I looked up from my cocktail when I saw Arlo and Jacob standing in front of us. "Let's go," he said, and I nodded my head. I downed my drink in one go and got up from the stool, ready to leave.

"See you tomorrow, Sofia," I told her as I pulled her into a hug, and she hugged me back.

"Sure, good night, Luna Bella," she whispered in my ear as she pulled back and made her way to take her place next to her brother. Arlo walked towards me and wrapped his arm around my waist as he pulled me closer to his warm body.

"The elders will be staying on our floor today," he informed me, and I nodded my head. Well, I think that is expected.

Arlo guided me outside, and when we reached the elevator, I saw the three elders waiting for us. Arlo quickly pressed the button, and the elevator doors opened and all of us got inside. "You don't have a mark on you, Luna." one of the elders asked me while I felt myself start to panic.

"We want to take this slow after everything that happened to Bella," Arlo answered for me, right then, the elevator doors opened, and Arlo and I stepped out first. "Please come in," he said while he removed this arm from my waist and I quickly stepped aside as he guided them down the hallway to their respective rooms.

Once they were all settled, Arlo walked towards me and gestured for me to walk ahead. As soon as the room door was closed behind me, I turned around to face Arlo. "Do you think they bought this?" I asked him as he casually walked towards his walk-in closet while I stood near the door.

"They definitely didn't but that crap." I heard his voice when a couple of moments later he walked outside wearing only a pair of basketball shorts. My eyes widened to the size of saucers as they wandered all over his well-toned body.

There were tattoos on his chest and arms but not too many to cover the entire skin underneath. As I walked closer, I was able to see faint scars littered all over his body, each of them must be holding a different story that was just waiting to be discovered. "Are you done drooling?" his voice made me look up at his eyes again as I cleared my throat.

"I…I wasn't drooling I was just looking at those tattoos." I defended but he shook his head as he made his way to his bed and took a seat.

"I don't care. Now listen. The elders didn't look very happy with our act and I bet they must be coming up with some sort of a test tomorrow?"

"A test? What sort of test?" I asked him getting nervous. I can handle anything that is related to academics but I know very well that is not going to be the case.

"I have no idea. But I suggest you don't look extremely shocked by whatever they say, got it?" he asked me and I nodded my head.

"Good, now you can sleep on that side and I will sleep on my side don't cross it," he said in a monotone tone as he turned off the lamp on his bedside table and lay down.
