The Death Spirit Tree stood as a grim testament to the power and reputation of Jia Nan Academy within the Black-Corner Region. It was said that during a major conflict years ago, the bodies of two Dou Wang and one Dou Huang were cruelly displayed on this tree, serving as a warning to all.

Since then, the academy's reputation soared, and the infamy of the Death Spirit Tree spread throughout the Black-Corner Region and even to the Northwest Continent. At the entrance of Peace Town, Mo Yu looked up at the renowned landmark with a hint of intrigue before stepping into the town, which served as Jia Nan Academy's entrance.

As he cast a glance around the street, he noticed something unusual. Glancing upwards, he saw more than a dozen figures moving agilely across the rooftops toward the town gate. Moments later, a group of around a dozen people appeared at the town entrance.

The leader, a middle-aged man, swept his gaze over Mo Yu and the others and said in a flat tone, "Anyone entering Peace Town must state their identity, name, and purpose. Otherwise, you'll be forced to leave."

Mo Yu's eyes flickered as he recognized their attire—light blue robes with a sapphire badge bearing a blood-stained dagger at the chest. "Ah, the Jia Nan Academy Law Enforcement Unit," he murmured to himself, eyebrows raised.

Unlike his newly formed Yuan Manor, Jia Nan Academy was a longstanding powerhouse in the Black-Corner Region, fully entitled to establish its own rules, with the Law Enforcement Unit acting as the academy's sword of justice.

As expected, the squad leader ordered everyone entering Peace Town to consume a pill capable of sensing killing intent. "It's always been the rule here. If you're unwilling, don't enter. But if you enter and break the rules, you might end up joining the decor on the Death Spirit Tree." The middle-aged man's voice was cold, and a powerful aura seeped from him, signaling his cultivation level.

"An eight-star Dou Shi, not bad," Mo Yu muttered with a glint in his silver eyes as he sensed the man's strength. Some hesitant onlookers glanced at the Death Spirit Tree before retreating, unwilling to consume the pill. Those remaining reluctantly stepped forward, announced their names, and swallowed the faintly red pill in front of the Law Enforcement Unit.

The man's cold expression softened slightly as he watched the compliant entrants. However, he clearly held a dislike for Black-Corner Region folk and maintained a stern demeanor. "Excuse me, can academy students skip the pill?" a young man suddenly asked, catching the squad off guard.

The middle-aged man scrutinized Mo Yu, his face changing as he asked, "Which elder from the academy is your mentor? Where is your teacher?"

Surprised by the assumption, Mo Yu shook his head. "I haven't taken a mentor in Jia Nan Academy."

The man blinked in surprise. Given Mo Yu's unique presence and dense aura, he naturally assumed Mo Yu was one of Jia Nan Academy's students. Only such an institution could attract talents of his caliber! Convinced, he believed Mo Yu was likely a promising student brought back by an elder.

"I was admitted to the academy but took a leave after passing the entrance test, so I'm here on my own," Mo Yu explained calmly.

"You crossed the entire Black-Corner Region alone?" the middle-aged man asked, astonished. As Mo Yu nodded, the man's eyes gleamed with a mixture of surprise and admiration. "State your name, age, and recruitment mentor."

"Mo Yu, nineteen, Instructor Ruo Lin."

Recognition dawned on the middle-aged man's face. "Mo Yu… Could you be the Mo Yu from the Jia Ma Empire who took a two-year leave?"

"A few days ago, Xiao Yan from your family arrived and made quite an impression. You two certainly stirred up a storm during your entrance."

The squad leader's exclamation drew the surrounding crowd's attention, and they looked at Mo Yu with curiosity. His fame as a distinguished student had already spread through the academy, and it was well-known that his reputation, in part, was bolstered by his connection with Xiao Yu.

"Mo Yu? The fiancée Senior Xiao Yu often mentions?" Several young men nearby exchanged looks, their gazes now tinged with subtle rivalry.

"Oh, that girl has really stirred things up here, leaving me with unexpected 'rivals'..." Mo Yu mused with a laugh as he saw the competitive glint in their eyes. "If the Xiao Yu you're referring to is Xiao Yu from Wu Tan City in the Jia Ma Empire, then yes, her fiancée is indeed me," he added with a light chuckle.

"Let's head to the office to verify your records. If everything checks out, you won't need to take the pill. My name is Huo De, captain of the Jia Nan Academy Law Enforcement Unit's second team and a Huang-rank instructor." With that, the middle-aged man led Mo Yu toward the academy's administrative building.

As they walked, Huo De held Mo Yu's file, glancing down to see an image of Mo Yu from three years ago, his face still bearing a hint of youth. Although the drawing was somewhat outdated, the overall likeness was undeniable.

Closing the file, Huo De smiled, patting Mo Yu on the shoulder. "Impressive, kid. According to this, you were a seven-star Dou Zhe two years ago. But now… I'd say you've reached at least a high-level Dou Shi?"

"Your cousin Xiao Yan made quite an impression as soon as he arrived, already becoming a rising star among the newcomers in the Inner Academy," Huo De added.

Mo Yu nodded, not surprised. He had spent a significant amount of time establishing Yuan Manor in Shi Yan City, so Xiao Yan's earlier arrival was expected. With Xiao Yan's talent and strength, it was inevitable that he would shine at Jia Nan Academy.

"Are you planning to head to the academy now?" Huo De asked.

"Yes," Mo Yu replied with a nod.

"You'll need this to enter the academy." Huo De retrieved a sapphire badge from his storage ring and handed it to Mo Yu. Then, just as he was about to step back, Mo Yu asked, "Instructor Huo De, may I apply to enter the Inner Academy?"

Huo De was momentarily taken aback but then replied, slightly hesitant, "Given your talent and strength, you're likely qualified for the Inner Academy. However, by the rules, entry requires passing the Inner Academy Selection Exam."

As the Inner Academy selection concluded a few days ago, Mo Yu found himself with only one option: wait until the next year. Frowning, he asked, "Is there no other way?"

Hearing Mo Yu's determination, Huo De paused, his expression contemplative before he sighed, "There is another way, but no one has ever succeeded since Jia Nan Academy was founded."

"Oh? What way?" Mo Yu asked, his curiosity piqued. Confident in his own strength, he aimed to break any records that stood in his path.

Seeing Mo Yu's confidence, Huo De chuckled wryly. "If an Outer Academy student wants to enter the Inner Academy without participating in the selection, they must defeat one of the 'Strong List' elite students."

Huo De shook his head, clearly doubtful of the possibility. Even the enforcers nearby wore skeptical expressions; Strong List members were nothing short of legends within the Inner Academy, unmatched by ordinary standards.

Mo Yu's brow furrowed as he grasped the challenge. "Instructor Huo De, would the top three on the Strong List participate?" he asked, a hint of nervousness in his tone.

If they did, Mo Yu's confidence might indeed be overestimated. After all, he knew that Zi Yan, the current Strong List leader, was not someone he could contend with at his present level.

"Uh…" Huo De looked startled for a moment before chuckling wryly, "No, the top three wouldn't participate. Even most instructors and elders can't match them. To gain entry, you would only need to defeat one of the lower-ranked members."

Mo Yu sighed in relief, shaking his head. Perhaps he had worried too much.

"In that case, please help me apply, Instructor Huo De."

Huo De reflexively acknowledged, "Alright… what?" Realizing Mo Yu's intent, his expression shifted in shock. The other enforcers were equally stunned, their eyes betraying disbelief. After all, even those at the bottom of the Strong List were at least Dou Ling experts, figures who commanded awe throughout the Black-Corner Region.

"Thank you, Instructor Huo De. I'm determined to enter the Inner Academy!" Mo Yu's calm but resolute tone left no room for doubt.

Watching Mo Yu's steady expression, Huo De sighed after a brief pause, "Very well, I'll make the request to the Academy's higher-ups. It's been ten years since someone last attempted this. It seems the Inner Academy is in for some excitement."

As Huo De expressed his thoughts, the other enforcers glanced at Mo Yu, their expressions complex. Would this young man set a new precedent in the Academy's history?

Closing the files, Huo De looked out at the darkening sky and addressed Mo Yu, "It's getting late, and I won't keep you. However, there's a vast forest filled with high-tier magical beasts between here and the Inner Academy, making night travel dangerous.

I can arrange for a gryphon to carry you directly to the Inner Academy. By then, the higher-ups will have received my notice, and they might arrange the test immediately. How does that sound?"

Mo Yu replied with gratitude, "Thank you, Instructor Huo De."

Huo De, his demeanor much warmer than before, summoned two enforcers and instructed them to prepare the gryphon.

As Mo Yu prepared to leave, Huo De leaned in and offered a gentle reminder, "I may not know your full strength, but you must have your reasons for being so confident. However, keep in mind that ever since Xiao Yu returned from her clan two years ago, her strength has soared.

Many within the Academy are drawn to her—some Strong List geniuses included. If you encounter rivals in your pursuit of the Inner Academy, remember, it's alright to surrender and try again next year."

Mo Yu smiled and nodded, seemingly accepting the advice, yet a glint of cold determination flickered in his silver eyes.
