In the spacious living room, Frank and Xue Mei welcomed Mo Yu and the others inside.
"Haha, Frank, you owe me one today! If not for me, your guest would have been turned away," Master Ao Tuo teased as he entered.
Hearing this, Frank seemed to understand what had happened. He offered a cup of tea to Mo Yu and apologized, "Sorry, Mo Yu. I expected someone from the Ye family to notify us before your arrival, but I didn't expect you to come alone."
Mo Yu waved his hand with a light smile. "The Ye family is busy moving right now. I think Black Rock City will soon only serve as one of their outposts. Their main base will be relocated to Yan City."
Hearing this, Frank recalled the young man's recent actions and couldn't help but sigh. "I can't believe you managed to pull off such a major task quietly in just one month."
The "major task" Frank referred to was Mo Yu's cooperation with the Ye family to overthrow the Mo family.
Mo Yu shook his head with a bitter smile. "It was mostly thanks to the Ye family's efforts. Without them and my fourth-rank battle pet, this wouldn't have been possible."
Master Ao Tuo praised Mo Yu's humility. He then looked at the beautiful silver-haired girl beside them and said, "I think you can trust Mo Yu to handle Xue Mei's matter, Frank."
As longtime friends, Ao Tuo naturally knew that Frank wanted to help Xue Mei dissolve her engagement. Initially, Ao Tuo had some doubts about entrusting this matter to Mo Yu. But given the young man's rising fame, he no longer had any reservations.
Frank smiled and nodded. The reason he sought Mo Yu's help was not only the youth's exceptional skills in artifact crafting but also the fact that Mo Yu possessed a fourth-rank battle pet, comparable to a Dou Ling expert. Mo Yu's capabilities had far exceeded Frank's expectations.
"Xue Mei, is this the man who'll pretend to be your 'lover' to help cancel your engagement? I didn't expect him to be so handsome!" Lin Fei whispered teasingly to Xue Mei.
"It's not a lover! We're just pretending to be a couple to find an excuse for the breakup. Don't talk nonsense," Xue Mei blushed, annoyed.
"You used to say that no young man in Black Rock City could surpass you. But now someone has shown up. As I recall, you once said…" Xue Mei's dark eyes gleamed as she trailed off mischievously.
Lin Fei's expression froze momentarily before she quickly retorted, "He's not from Black Rock City, and I meant someone surpassing me in alchemy!" She smiled slyly at Xue Mei.
"Hmph, well played…" Lin Fei muttered, brushing her hair back with a grin. "Still, with his talent in weapon refining, you'd make a great pair. Even though your teacher is one of the top figures in Black Rock City, imagine how powerful his teacher must be to produce such a monstrous student."
Xue Mei chuckled. "I'm not interested in men for now. If you like him, go for it. After all, isn't Master Ao Tuo a famous alchemist like my teacher? Plus, your father is the lord of Black Rock City."
Lin Fei bit her lip in frustration at Xue Mei's calm response. "If I do pursue him, you won't fight me for him, will you? He's a rare gem even in the entire Jia Ma Empire," Lin Fei teased, rolling her eyes playfully.
Standing nearby, Qing Lin overheard the girls' banter and pieced together Mo Yu's purpose. She clenched her small fists, her gaze fixed on the young man. 'Young master won't fall for either of you. I'll always be by his side,' she thought to herself.
After some small talk, Frank learned that Mo Yu was also heading to the Mu Lan Empire. Upon discovering that Mo Yu not only excelled in weapon refining but also had some skill in alchemy, Frank asked, "How long will you stay in the Mu Lan Empire, Mo Yu?"
"Maybe half a year," Mo Yu replied.
"Half a year…" Ao Tuo tapped his fingers on the table thoughtfully. "Will you visit the capital of the Jia Ma Empire afterward?"
"The capital?" Mo Yu paused, recalling Xiao Yan's three-year agreement. "If everything goes well, I'll likely go."
Ao Tuo chuckled. "In half a year, the Alchemist Grand Meeting will be held in the capital. If you have time, you should visit. And if you're confident in your alchemy skills, consider participating. It could benefit you greatly."
"The Alchemist Grand Meeting?" Mo Yu murmured, remembering it. Unfortunately, there was no weapon refining conference on the Dou Qi continent—that would have been his true domain.
"The Alchemist Grand Meeting draws not only alchemists from across the Jia Ma Empire but also those from other empires. It's a grand event in the alchemy world. You'd regret missing it."
Mo Yu nodded lightly. Although he wasn't too interested in the event, he thought it wouldn't hurt to take a look if given the chance.
After some more conversation, Mo Yu and Frank agreed to leave for the Mu Lan Empire the next day. They planned to visit the Liu family in West Desolate City to cancel Xue Mei's engagement.
Like Nalan Yanran's engagement cancellation, Xue Mei's family opposed the idea. However, Xue Mei and Frank had already decided to act first and inform the family later.
While Nalan Yanran brought a fourth-grade pill, the Gathering Qi Powder, as compensation to the Xiao family, Frank prepared an equally valuable gift: a Tiger Strength Pill.
The Tiger Strength Pill, as the name suggests, greatly enhances the user's physical strength, granting the permanent strength of a tiger. However, the effect doesn't stack, so one can only consume one pill.
Despite this limitation, the pill's value exceeded that of the Gathering Qi Powder since it could be used not only by Da Dou Shi but even Dou Ling experts.
Perhaps to show his sincerity or to prevent Mo Yu from harboring selfish thoughts along the way, Frank gave Mo Yu a Tiger Strength Pill in advance.
This unexpected gift delighted Mo Yu, and he accepted it without hesitation.
With the Tiger Strength Pill in hand, he planned to use it to improve his Thunder Body, allowing him to condense a few more thunder patterns. Once fully mastered, the hundred-patterm Thunder Body would become a Di-class dou technique, making his body as strong as a magical beast's.
Mo Yu couldn't wait to cultivate the Thunder Body further.
The next morning, Mo Yu and Qing Lin woke up early, preparing to depart for the Mu Lan Empire with Xue Mei.
At the entrance of the Alchemist Association, they encountered an unexpected person.
"Miss Lin Fei? What brings you here?" Mo Yu asked, surprised to see the lively girl standing beside Xue Mei.
"I'm here to accompany my friend! We're going to cancel her engagement," Lin Fei said with a mischievous grin, looking as if she were going on a vacation.
Xue Mei sighed helplessly. It was clear that she couldn't control Lin Fei's whims.
Mo Yu frowned slightly. With Qing Lin, Xue Mei, and now Lin Fei, he knew the journey would attract a lot of unwanted attention.
Seeing that Master Ao Tuo made no effort to stop her, Mo Yu wondered if they were placing too much trust in him—or perhaps it was because of his Purple Flame.
Shaking his head, Mo Yu decided it didn't matter. Another "tag along" wouldn't change much, so he accepted Lin Fei's presence.
With Lin Fei cheering excitedly, the group left the Alchemist Association and headed toward the flying transportation center in the city's heart.
Although Mo Yu could use Zi Huo to fly, crossing national borders required a professional flight service to avoid being mistaken for an intruder.
After passing through a few unfamiliar streets, they reached a spacious plaza where massive flying birds rested.
These creatures, called Thick-Winged Birds, weren't magical beasts but gentle avians, easy to domesticate. Because of their rarity, only powerful empires could afford to maintain flight transport fleets.
Although Thick-Winged Birds weren't as fast as some other flying magical beasts, they had excellent endurance. Once fed properly, they could maintain a stable speed for nearly four to five days. These birds were also known for their outstanding load capacity—an adult Thick-Winged Bird could easily carry five to six times its own weight over long flights.
However, long lines were forming beside every Thick-Winged Bird. Near the wooden ladder leading to the birds, a uniformed official was busy collecting boarding tickets from passengers.
Seeing the long queue, Mo Yu frowned. 'It's going to take a while to get tickets at this rate,' he thought.
Lin Fei, standing beside him, patted her ample chest confidently and volunteered, "Leave this to me."
Without waiting for Mo Yu to respond, she walked toward the ticket office.
Xue Mei, who stood next to Mo Yu, explained at the right moment, "Lin Fei's father is the city lord of Black Rock City. She knows quite a few people."
Mo Yu nodded calmly, showing no particular surprise at Lin Fei's background.
Xue Mei was taken aback by his indifferent reaction. Throughout the journey, Mo Yu had remained distant toward both her and Lin Fei. Yet, he was unexpectedly warm and friendly toward the little maidservant traveling with them, chatting and smiling often.
While neither she nor Lin Fei harbored romantic feelings for him, as young women, they couldn't help but feel somewhat annoyed. Their status and beauty far surpassed that of Qing Lin, the maidservant, and yet Mo Yu treated them indifferently. Naturally, they felt a bit slighted.
Oblivious to Xue Mei's thoughts, Mo Yu watched Lin Fei approach the ticket counter. She exchanged a few words with the attendant, and soon, a manager hurried over, looking very respectful. In response to Lin Fei's impatience, the manager quickly pulled several tickets from his bag.
Lin Fei waved the manager away and returned to the group.
"Here, these are tickets for the first-rank magical beast Giant Vine Bird. Its flying speed is much faster than the Thick-Winged Birds," Lin Fei said with a proud tilt of her delicate chin.
Mo Yu accepted the tickets, running his fingers over the soft, beast-skin material. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly. 'The commercial system on this Dou Qi Continent really does resemble the world from my first life'.
"Well then, thank you, Miss Lin Fei. Let's go," Mo Yu said with a smile, patting Qing Lin on the head.
With the guidance of an attendant, the group followed a corridor until they reached a large bird-like beast comparable in size to the Thick-Winged Birds.
The beast had a fierce appearance, and judging by its aura, it seemed to be only a first-rank magical beast. However, Mo Yu could sense the wind element energy swirling around it, clearly indicating that this was a wind-attribute flying beast—well known for its speed.
A small wooden structure had been securely built on the beast's back. The wood used was both lightweight and durable, though rare in supply. Inside the structure were several rooms, some of which were already occupied by other passengers.
When Mo Yu's group entered—particularly the three girls whose beauty stood out—they instantly attracted many heated gazes, and Mo Yu could even hear some people swallowing audibly.
Fortunately, the identities of Xue Mei and Lin Fei served as a deterrent, preventing anyone from acting recklessly.
Following the room numbers on their tickets, Mo Yu and the others found their assigned rooms.
After ensuring he didn't need any further service from Qing Lin, Mo Yu allowed her to return to her room to rest.
About half an hour later, the enormous bird beast began flapping its wings. Wind-attribute energy gathered beneath it, lifting its massive body off the ground.
With a sharp screech, the flying beast soared into the sky under the tamer's command, heading swiftly toward the Mu Lan Empire.
Sitting by the window, Mo Yu gazed at the clouds drifting past. A distant memory floated into his mind—of something called an "airplane." He chuckled bitterly at the thought and shook his head to clear it away.
The distance between Western Wasteland City and Black Rock City was considerable. Even at the flying beast's speed, it would still take at least three days to reach their destination.
Settling cross-legged on the bed, Mo Yu retrieved a Hu Li pill from his storage. 'Might as well use this time to improve my strength,' he thought, preparing to cultivate.
