With a servant of the Ye family leading the way, Mo Yu quickly arrived at the main hall. Upon hearing footsteps entering, a few gazes in the room shifted toward him.
Mo Yu spotted Ye Cong, the clan leader, along with the old man Frank, whom he had met briefly at the Mittel auction house, and a beautiful, elegant woman named Xue Mei.
As he entered, noticing the subtle expression in Ye Cong's eyes, Mo Yu understood the message and nodded in acknowledgment.
Seeing this, Ye Cong couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes. He was well aware of Mo Yu's closed-door efforts to repair the Sixfold Grand Void Sword. Now that the young man had emerged, it was time to find out whether he had succeeded. Mo Yu's nod indicated that the sword was indeed repaired, meaning that the family's old patriarch's injuries could fully recover, and the Ye family's standing among the Four Great Families in the northeastern provinces would be unshakable.
Noticing the silent exchange between Mo Yu and Ye Cong, a trace of surprise crossed Frank's face. The young man before him, who seemed vaguely familiar, had managed to earn such respect from the leader of the Ye family. It seemed he was no ordinary individual.
At that moment, Ye Cong formally introduced them. "President Frank, this is the weapon refining master you wished to meet—Mr. Mo Yu. He's also the one in need of the Beast Soul Blood Fusion Pill you possess."
Then he turned to Mo Yu. "This is Frank, president of the Black Rock City Alchemist Guild, and his apprentice, Miss Xue Mei."
After the introductions, Mo Yu stepped forward and bowed slightly. "Mo Yu, at your service, Master Frank and Miss Xue Mei."
"Oh? So, you are the refining master invited by Clan Leader Ye. He mentioned you were young, but I never imagined you'd still be a teenager—truly surprising. If I'm not mistaken, this isn't our first meeting, is it? I remember seeing you draped in a black cloak before." As Mo Yu approached, a flash of realization crossed Frank's face, and he chuckled.
Xue Mei's eyes blinked in recognition. She suddenly recalled the mysterious cloaked figure who had astonished her mentor at the Mittel auction house. It turned out to be this young man, so close in age to herself.
"Heh, I only had a brief encounter with Master Frank that day. I'm surprised you remembered me," Mo Yu replied with a faint smile, slightly taken aback by the recognition.
After exchanging pleasantries, Mo Yu glanced at Ye Cong, wondering why Frank had personally come to deliver the pill when he had already entrusted the matter to the Ye family. Did they expect him to pay for it directly?
Noticing Mo Yu's questioning gaze, Ye Cong could only respond with a wry smile. Initially, he was close to finalizing the purchase of the Beast Soul Blood Fusion Pill, but Frank insisted on meeting Mo Yu upon learning that the buyer was a refining master.
"This matter isn't Ye Cong's fault," Frank explained, "It was I who requested this meeting upon hearing that the buyer of the pill was a refining master."
"May I ask where Master Mo Yu received his training? Who is your teacher?" Frank inquired further.
Refining skills, much like alchemy, typically required a mentor for proper guidance. It was rare to find someone self-taught in such arts. Given Mo Yu's young age, Frank assumed he must have an accomplished mentor.
Mo Yu raised an eyebrow at the question and casually fabricated an answer. "My mentor is Sikong Zhen. He's a wanderer who roams the continent freely, so it's not surprising that few have heard of his name."
"Sikong Zhen?" Frank blinked in confusion, mentally sifting through his memories but unable to recall such a person.
The Dou Qi Continent was vast, with many hidden talents who preferred to remain obscure. Though Frank was a fourth-tier alchemist, he was mainly known within the Jia Ma Empire.
He accepted the name without further question, while Ye Cong also committed it to memory—knowing that someone who could train a disciple as skilled as Mo Yu must be a formidable refining expert, likely on par with renowned alchemists like Gu He.
While they pondered the supposed mentor's identity, Mo Yu turned his attention back to Frank. "I have a three-star magical beast that is currently undergoing an evolution. It has absorbed the bloodline of a higher-ranked beast, so it requires a fourth-tier Beast Soul Blood Fusion Pill. I assume Master Frank is aware of this. What price do I need to pay for the pill?"
Mo Yu suspected that Frank had come in person because he valued Mo Yu's status as a refining master, rather than because the Ye family couldn't afford the payment.
Hearing that Mo Yu indeed had a magical beast on the verge of advancing to four stars, Frank clicked his tongue in admiration. A creature of that level would be equivalent to a human Dou Ling, requiring careful handling even from him.
With such a powerful companion, Mo Yu's background must be impressive.
Frank took a slow sip of tea handed to him by a Ye family servant and then spoke. "A fourth-tier pill is precious, yes, but it is not priceless to me. I am willing to give it to you for free—if you can assist me with a certain matter."
As he spoke, he took out a jade bottle from his storage ring. A deep-red pill rolled out, glowing with a faint crimson hue. A subtle, powerful aura emanated from it, exuding an intimidating beastly presence.
"The Beast Soul Blood Fusion Pill..." Mo Yu's eyes lit up at the sight of the pill. With it, Zi Huo would be able to absorb the mysterious beast remains within half a month and successfully evolve.
"What kind of assistance does Master Frank require?" Mo Yu asked.
Frank chuckled. "Don't worry, I won't ask you to do anything overly dangerous. In fact, it's a favor I need for my apprentice."
"Oh?" Mo Yu turned his gaze toward Xue Mei, intrigued by what the reserved yet elegant young woman could need that was worth a fourth-tier pill.
Xue Mei's bright eyes flickered curiously at Mo Yu, wondering what assistance her mentor might seek from this young man. Though he carried an air of mystery, she couldn't imagine what role he could play. A sudden thought made her cheeks flush lightly, as a certain possibility crossed her mind—could it be that?
Frank continued with a smile. "My disciple, Xue Mei, is not originally from the Jia Ma Empire. She hails from the neighboring Mu Lan Empire. I discovered her during one of my travels, impressed by her unique talent, and took her as my apprentice. Recently, her family sent a letter reminding her of a marriage engagement made in her childhood with another family. They want her to return to fulfill the arrangement. As you might imagine, I have grown quite fond of my apprentice, and she hardly knows this fiancé they speak of. So…"
At this, Frank fixed his gaze on Mo Yu, the implication clear in his eyes.
Mo Yu raised an eyebrow, feeling like he had heard a familiar story. With a half-joking tone, he asked, "Master Frank, you wouldn't happen to want me to pose as Miss Xue Mei's lover to break off the engagement, would you?"
To his surprise, Frank slowly nodded, while Xue Mei's cheeks turned a faint shade of pink.
