Morning sunlight streamed through the patterned window, casting speckled beams onto the floor like a blooming flower, warm and radiant.

In the room, Mo Yu, sitting cross-legged on the bed, slowly opened his eyes. A faint flash of lightning passed through his dark pupils before it quickly vanished.

Stretching slightly, Mo Yu took a deep breath of the cool morning air, a feeling of comfort spreading from his lungs throughout his body.

It had been three days since his brief encounter with Ye Cong.

Before Ye Cong left, he had instructed the servants to provide Mo Yu with a fine room. During these three days, Mo Yu had also taken the opportunity to absorb and refine the third-tier magic core that Little Doctor Immortal had gifted him. His strength had once again improved, reaching the peak of three-star Dou Shi.

Despite his increasing strength, Mo Yu didn't give it much thought. He was quietly awaiting the Ye family's response. If nothing unexpected happened, they shouldn't reject his request.

After all, at this point, the Ye family had no other choice.

As Mo Yu pondered this, a sudden knock on the door broke his thoughts. When he opened it, a somewhat familiar face appeared.

"I am Ye Zhen from the Ye family, here by the patriarch's order to invite you to discuss matters with our family," said the man, a thirty-something, who spoke respectfully to Mo Yu.

Seeing the visitor, Mo Yu smiled slightly, quickly recalling the events from a few days ago. His memory was sharp, and he instantly remembered that the man before him was the Da Dou Shi who had led the Ye family guards during the conflict with Ye Cong.

After confirming his identity, Mo Yu nodded and said, "Lead the way."

Hearing this, Ye Zhen immediately led the way with great respect. Though Mo Yu appeared young, both the patriarch's and the family patriarch's attitude toward him, as well as the formidable strength he had displayed, made Ye Zhen set aside his own pride as a Da Dou Shi.

Passing through several bustling streets, Mo Yu followed the Ye family guard, circling nearly half of Yan City before finally arriving at the Ye family's headquarters, located in the center of the city.

Standing at the end of the street, Mo Yu looked at the heavily fortified Ye family compound, which resembled a small castle, and nodded slightly in admiration.

The Ye family was indeed one of the four great families of the eastern province of the Jia Ma Empire. The amount of wealth invested in building this heavily guarded fortress was clearly enormous.

On the towering walls, patrols were set up every few dozen meters, and in the gaps between them, Mo Yu could vaguely see sharp blades gleaming coldly under the sunlight.

As his soul force swept roughly over the fortress, Mo Yu noticed that the area above the fortress was covered by at least a dozen surveillance points with no blind spots. Anyone trying to infiltrate from above would likely be turned into a pincushion by the hidden arrows before they could even get close.

"The Ye family is worthy of being one of the four great families of the northeastern provinces. Their defenses are indeed decent. It wouldn't be easy to sneak in unnoticed," Mo Yu said calmly as his gaze swept over the fortress.

Hearing this, Ye Zhen was slightly taken aback. The Ye family took great pride in the strength of their fortress defenses, but in Mo Yu's eyes, it seemed merely "decent."

Of course, for Mo Yu, who had witnessed the guardian formations of top-tier sects, calling these defenses "decent" was already generous praise.

...

Inside the Ye family hall, two figures sat facing each other.

"Ye Cong, are you certain about the results of the investigation?" an elderly man with graying hair and dressed in light gray robes asked in a low voice from the main seat.

The old man appeared extremely aged, his eyes reflecting the passage of countless years. Yet his body emitted a strong aura of death, clearly showing he was seriously injured.

"Patriarch, I've confirmed that Mo Yu is indeed the son of Mo Jingyun of the Mo family. Mo Jingyun's father committed a grave crime many years ago, and..." Ye Cong, standing below, replied respectfully.

"I see..." The old man's cloudy eyes gleamed briefly. He murmured, "So he wants to use our Ye family to avenge his father. But aside from his ability to repair the Sixfold Grand Void Sword, what other bargaining chips does Mo Yu have? Otherwise, even with this dying body, I will personally test if this boy is as powerful as you say!"

As he finished speaking, the old man began coughing violently due to the excitement, his face flushing red.

"Grand Elder!" Ye Cong hurried forward to check on the old man. This elderly figure was the stabilizing force of the Ye family. If anything happened to him, the Ye family would undoubtedly become a target for countless enemies.

After a while, the old man's breathing gradually steadied. Ye Cong let out a sigh of relief, but then hesitated before saying, "Grand Elder, it's best not to antagonize Mo Yu. His abilities, and the mysterious master behind him, are likely not something our Ye family can easily handle.

"Moreover, before he left last time, Mo Yu told me that the Yun Lan Sect would sever its ties with the Mo family. I didn't believe him at first, but our family's spies just returned with information confirming that the Yun Lan Sect announced this yesterday, with the sect leader personally making the decision against considerable opposition.

"I heard that Mo Lan was furious when he found out and went to the Yun Lan Sect to demand an explanation. He was turned away before he even got through the gate."

"Oh?" The old man was stunned, then his aged face showed a trace of surprise. He sighed, "It seems I underestimated this boy. Heroes truly do emerge from the younger generation.

"Whether or not the severance between the Yun Lan Sect and the Mo family is directly related to Mo Yu, the power behind him is definitely significant. The future of the empire belongs to these young talents.

"If the discussions go well, then great. If not, our Ye family must still treat him with respect. We should form a good relationship with him. Who knows when such a connection might prove useful."

Hearing the patriarch's words, Ye Cong nodded. As the head of the family, he was well aware of the importance of connections.

It was said that the Jia family, the number one family in the western province, only rose to prominence after rescuing a young Gu He from a magical beast attack decades ago. After Gu He became the Pill King, his support helped the Jia family go from a clan without a single Da Dou Shi to the top family in the western province.

In Ye Cong's eyes, Mo Yu's potential was no less than that of Gu He, and perhaps even greater. The terrifying soul force Mo Yu wielded was something even he was unsure he could overcome.

As the two men conversed, a Ye family member entered the hall, bowing respectfully to the pair. "Grand Elder, Patriach, the guest, Mo Yu, has arrived."

Hearing this, the old man softly said, "Bring him in."
