In the eastern part of the Magic Beast Mountain Range, atop the edge of a remote mountain ridge...

Standing on the summit, Mo Yu raised his head, gazing at the blue eagle circling in the sky. A bright smile spread across his face as he waved at the graceful woman standing elegantly on the eagle's back, her white dress fluttering in the wind. "Xiao Yixian, this is where we part ways."

"Take care, Mo Yu!"

Looking down at the youth on the slope, Xiao Yixian smiled gently, her expression tinged with reluctance. After a final wave, she steered the blue eagle away. With a sharp cry, the eagle spread its wings and soared westward, disappearing into the distant horizon.

As Mo Yu watched the blue figure fade from view, he stood deep in thought for a moment before turning to focus on his next destination.

Mo Yu had entrusted the cultivation of the Profound Yin Poison Demon Thunder to Xiao Yixian—a bold gamble on his part. He hoped that when they met again, she would bring him a pleasant surprise.

Putting his thoughts aside, he turned his attention to the next leg of his journey.

Currently, Mo Yu resided outside Qing Shan Town, a small settlement near the Magic Beast Mountain Range. Such towns were common in this region.

The nearest city to Mo Yu was a large metropolis in the eastern province of the Jia Ma Empire—Black Rock City. It was even grander than Wu Tan City, with a powerful reputation among the empire's most prominent cities.

Mo Yu's primary goal was to reach Black Rock City. Only large cities like it offered civilian flying transport services authorized by the empire.

Traveling to the eastern border of the Jia Ma Empire—necessary for reaching the Mu Lan Empire—was a daunting task. If Mo Yu were to make the journey on foot, it would take at least four to five months. However, with the Zi Huo now dormant, he had no intention of wasting that much time. Thus, he chose to travel by air from Black Rock City to the empire's border.

While he could use his Purple Cloud Wings to fly, covering such a vast distance across the Jia Ma Empire was beyond his current abilities, even though he had advanced to the rank of Dou Shi. Furthermore, flying alone with his wings would attract too much attention, as powerful hidden experts were scattered across the empire. Mo Yu preferred to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Descending from the mountaintop, Mo Yu reached a nearby town. After a brief rest, he hired the fastest horned horse-drawn carriage available and set off toward Black Rock City without delay.

After traveling for most of the afternoon, the enormous outline of Black Rock City gradually came into view.

Standing atop the carriage, Mo Yu observed the vast city bathed in the crimson glow of the setting sun, his curiosity piqued.

Compared to Wu Tan City, Black Rock City was undoubtedly more majestic—by far the grandest city Mo Yu had seen since his rebirth in the Dou Qi Continent.

The city walls, constructed from neatly arranged black rocks, stood tall and sturdy. Based on Mo Yu's assessment, these walls could likely withstand attacks from even a Dou Wang expert.

As a prosperous and wealthy city, Black Rock City also housed a branch of the Alchemist Association. However, Mo Yu had no intention of taking the alchemist rank certification here.

Though primarily an weapon refiner, Mo Yu was not unfamiliar with alchemy. He was confident in his ability to obtain a second- or third-tier alchemist certification if needed. However, his destination was the Mu Lan Empire. While alchemists were respected throughout the continent, earning certification in the Mu Lan Empire would better integrate him into their local alchemist circles—a potential advantage in his plan to acquire the Ten Thousand Beast Flame.

After paying the entrance tax at the city gate, Mo Yu's carriage was granted entry. Passing through the dark city wall tunnel, his view suddenly opened up to a bustling urban scene.

The noisy, clamorous streets buzzed with life, slightly overwhelming Mo Yu, who preferred peace and quiet.

After settling the carriage fare, Mo Yu was preparing to find an inn for the night when a conversation from nearby passersby caught his attention.

"Have you heard? The Mite-er Auction House is hosting an auction tomorrow, and even the Ye Clan's patriarch will be attending!"

"The Ye Clan? I didn't expect the patriarch of one of the four major clans of the northeastern province to personally attend. Whatever's being auctioned must be extraordinary."

"I wouldn't know. Even the entry fee for the auction is a thousand gold coins—way out of reach for people like us."

Hearing their conversation, Mo Yu raised an eyebrow, a contemplative gleam flashing in his eyes.

The Mite-er Clan, one of the empire's three great families, had influence spread throughout the Jia Ma Empire. It wasn't surprising that they operated an auction house even in Black Rock City, given that they had one in a smaller city like Wu Tan City.

What intrigued Mo Yu, however, was the mention of the Ye Clan—one of the four major clans of the northeastern province.

For a clan to stand alongside the Mo Clan in prominence, the Ye Clan's strength had to be considerable, which sparked Mo Yu's interest.

Currently, Mo Yu was in a hostile relationship with the Mo Clan, which boasted a Dou Ling expert. Despite his recent advancements, Mo Yu knew he was still not strong enough to crush the Mo Clan outright. Even if Zi Huo advanced to the fourth tier and reached the Dou Ling level, it wouldn't guarantee victory against the Mo Clan.

As for the saying "A gentleman's revenge is never too late," Mo Yu believed that was a last resort for those without power. He preferred the philosophy of avenging himself without delay.

Though Mo Yu lacked the strength to annihilate the Mo Clan on his own, if he could form an alliance with the Ye Clan, the odds would shift in his favor.

After all, as one of the four great clans of the northeastern province, the Ye Clan likely had a Dou Ling expert of their own.

Whether or not he could bring the Ye Clan to his side remained uncertain, but Mo Yu believed it was worth a try. Just as the three clans of Wu Tan City were at each other's throats, the four major clans of the northeastern province were also locked in fierce rivalry.

If someone as unremarkable as Liu Xi, a mere first-tier alchemist, could stir up conflict between the Xiao Clan and the Jia Lie Clan, leading to the latter's downfall, Mo Yu saw no reason he couldn't achieve more.

Of course, this was merely a preliminary idea. Having just arrived in Black Rock City, Mo Yu needed to gather more information before making any decisions.

With nightfall approaching, Mo Yu found a decent inn to rest for the night, using the opportunity to inquire about the Ye Clan.

As for tomorrow, he planned to attend the Mite-er Auction House's event—not only to see if anything of value was up for grabs but also to observe the Ye Clan patriarch in person...
