Broly’s Multiversal Foodie Adventure

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Plump and Juicy, Bugs Are Delicious!

Chapter 2: Plump and Juicy, Bugs Are Delicious!

The moment the transfer began, the surroundings turned into streaks of light, rapidly moving backward. Within seconds, everything plunged into darkness, only to return as streaks of light again. Just as Broly reached out to touch the streaks, the scenery froze, and he appeared on the steps of a basement.

A rustling sound came from behind, accompanied by faint sobbing.

"Huh?"

Broly turned around and saw a large group of plump, wriggling bugs. In the middle of the swarm was a small mound, from which the sobbing emanated.

Broly jumped into the bug pile and dug out the mound, revealing a naked little girl with tear-stained cheeks and red, puffy eyes. Her sobbing stopped as she stared at Broly in confusion.

"Were you sleeping in the food pile?" Broly asked curiously, his eyes fixed on a worm crawling on the girl's chest. The worms looked plump and delicious, far more appetizing than Vampa spider larvae, making Broly salivate.

Hearing this, the young girl, Sakura Matou, didn't know how to respond. She had been sent to the Matou family as a foster child two weeks ago. On her first day, the elderly Zouken Matou had brought her here.

"Your magical attribute is 'void.' You'll need to undergo some modifications to better inherit the Matou family's magical crest," Zouken had said before throwing her into the bug-filled basement.

Ignoring her cries and fear, Zouken controlled the crest worms to begin modifying her, using their corrosive magic to alter her void attribute.

The process was horrifying and excruciating, akin to being pricked by countless needles. Over time, Sakura's cries turned into quiet sobs, but she held onto the hope that her family would come to save her.

However, none of her imagined saviors—her elegant father, gentle mother, or even her occasionally teasing sister—appeared. Instead, a strange boy, slightly older than her, showed up.

In the midst of the bug-infested nightmare, he brushed off the worms biting her and crouched down to look at her with concern. Though she didn't fully understand his words, Sakura remembered her manners and tried to thank him in a hoarse whisper.

Broly didn't catch what she said, but as he saw her clearly, a message appeared in his mind:

**[Sakura Matou, one of your figurine wives. You can invite her to join your Harem System.]**

"Are you my wife?" Broly asked.

"Huh?" Sakura was confused but recalled fairy tales her mother had told her, where a prince saved a princess and they became husband and wife.

"I'm not your wife, but I can become your wife," she whispered, following the fairy tale logic.

"If you're my wife, do you have food? I'm hungry," Broly said, reaching out his hand.

The Harem System had told him that wives would provide food, and with so many bugs around, he assumed she would share.

Suddenly becoming someone's wife and being asked for food was something Sakura had never experienced. However, drawing from her experience playing house, she knew what to do.

When the husband is hungry, as the wife, one should serve him food.

However, when she was called into the bug pit for her transformation, she was always told to remove all her clothes. Now, she had nothing on her.

Faced with the boy's outstretched hand asking for food, young Sakura was at a loss. Just then, the door to the bug pit creaked open, and a hunched figure entered, leaning on a cane.

"Sakura, who is this?"

Zouken Matou looked down at the boy who resembled a little beggar, his brow furrowed as he questioned his foster granddaughter.

"G-Grandfather..."

At the sight of Zouken, young Sakura trembled. To her, Zouken was a terrifying figure.

"I don't know him. I'll obediently undergo the transformation. Please don't punish me."

With that, the frightened girl lay back down on the cold ground.

**[So miracles don't exist. Facing Grandfather, this big brother who came to save me will surely be killed...]**

Tears streamed down her face again, unsure whether they were for the boy about to die or for herself, who would soon continue to endure the torment of the crest worms.

"I must be getting old, letting a child sneak into the bug pit without noticing. Boy, you're unlucky. Since you've intruded here, you'll become food for the worms. Go, devour him."

Zouken raised his hand and commanded the swarm of worms. The crest worms, following his orders, became aggressive in an instant.

"But don't harm Sakura. Her body is a precious vessel for the Matou family, a womb to bear children of superior quality."

The crest worms avoided young Sakura and swarmed over Broly, their sharp teeth tearing at his flesh.

The sound of ripping fabric echoed as Broly's tattered battle suit was shredded by the worms' sharp teeth.

"Waaah..."

The girl's sobs grew louder. She could do nothing, and now she had caused the death of someone who came to save her.

"Your grandfather is such a kind man!"

However, from within the pile of worms covering Broly, such a voice emerged.

"Slurp~"

Following that, the sound of eating could be heard.

Broly grabbed the worms crawling on him with both hands and began devouring them.

The worms weren't bitter or astringent, and they were indeed much tastier than Vampa spider larvae.

**[The shells are crunchy, the meat tastes like chicken, and the protein content is eight times higher than beef...]**

As Broly devoured worm after worm, such information surfaced in his mind.

With a quick grab, another worm was in his hand.

*Slurp*—he sucked the tail end into his mouth.

*Crunch*—his teeth bit down, and a burst of rich, juicy flavor exploded in his mouth.

With a casual toss, the worm's head, still with its sharp teeth, was thrown aside.

Soon, a small pile of worm heads accumulated.

The heads, now separated from their bodies, continued to open and close their sharp-toothed mouths.

At this moment, both young Sakura and Zouken were stunned.

Could the crest worms... actually be eaten?

But regardless of their thoughts, the facts were right before their eyes.

Saiyans have a broad diet. As long as what they eat doesn't harm them, they can digest almost anything.

Compared to some hard-to-digest foods (like aliens), the crest worms of the *Type-Moon* world were a nutritious delicacy, rich in energy (magical power).

"Boy, you're not normal. What exactly are you?"

Zouken demanded, having realized that the sharp teeth of his crest worms couldn't pierce the boy's skin.

"I'm Broly, a Saiyan," Broly replied politely, his mouth full of worms.

"A Saiyan? What's that?"

Zouken was puzzled. Despite his vast knowledge, he couldn't recall any information about Saiyans.

"Never mind. Whoever you are, since you dare to eat my worms, you must be prepared to pay the price."

"Eh? Weren't these given to me to eat?"

Broly asked in surprise, slurping up another worm.

"Given to you? Each of these worms was carefully cultivated by me to alter a magus's attributes. Each one costs over 5 million yen, not to mention the time and effort I've invested..."

The Matou family's finances had been struggling for nearly a century, and this bug pit represented a significant portion of their wealth. Looking at the pile of worm heads Broly had left behind, restoring the pit would require a substantial investment.

"So they weren't for me to eat."

Broly was disappointed, but he didn't stop eating. He slurped up another worm that crawled near his mouth.

"It crawled in by itself. Not my fault."

He defended himself, chewing and swallowing the worm, clearly trying to take advantage of the situation to eat as much as he could.

"Yuck~"

Beside him, the girl finally couldn't take it anymore and began retching.

"Are you mocking me?"

Zouken's expression darkened as he summoned flying crest worms.

"Kill him!"

These oversized wasp-like creatures buzzed toward Broly.

**[New food!]**

Broly's eyes lit up. He grabbed one of the wasps and took a bite.

*Boom~*

The wasp exploded in his mouth.

"Fool, these are my self-destructing worms."

Zouken smirked as the smoke cleared.

"Turns out they're not edible."

Broly's disappointed voice emerged from the smoke.

"What? You're unharmed?"

As the smoke dissipated, Broly stood there unscathed, his clothes the only casualty of the explosion.

"Don't you know the rule? Smoke means no damage."

Broly asked, puzzled.

"Wait, the explosion scared my wife. Her happiness level is dropping. Please quickly increase her happiness.

The higher the happiness level, the easier it is to win her over. Once she agrees to join the Harem System, the host can convert a large amount of happiness points..."

Broly recited the Harem System's prompt, then turned to see the girl trembling on the ground.

**[So, what's the point of having a wife?]**

Broly wondered, but his body moved faster than his thoughts. He grabbed the remaining wasp-like worms and appeared before Zouken, shoving them into the old man's mouth before he could react.

*Boom~*

Another explosion, but this time, Zouken's head was blown off.

The headless body slumped to the ground.

Without their master, the worms, sensing Broly's predatory aura, quickly retreated to the corners of the basement.

"Inheritance law?"

Broly muttered, recalling new information that surfaced in his mind. He floated down to the girl and clumsily said, "I killed your grandfather. Now his food is yours. I'm still a bit hungry. Can you give me more food?"

Broly had eaten a lot of worms, but for a Saiyan's appetite, it wasn't nearly enough.

"Huh?"

Young Sakura looked up and saw her grandfather's headless body.

"Ah?"

Rather than fear, she felt a surge of relief.

"You still want to eat those worms?"

She asked.

"Is there a problem?"

Broly tilted his head, not understanding the question.

"They're not food."

Young Sakura stood up, wiping her tears.

Broly: "..."

He felt deeply betrayed. The Harem System had said that wives would provide food, but this wife wasn't giving him anything. Even her grandfather, whom he had just blown up, had been more generous.

"I can take you to eat real food."

But then, young Sakura's next words dispelled his frustration.

"Real food? What's that?"

Broly was curious. In his short life, bugs had been his most common meal.

"Like cake, pudding, and such."

Young Sakura thought of the delicious treats she had eaten and told Broly.

"Cake? Pudding?"

Broly vaguely remembered these words but couldn't quite place them.

Still, his anticipation was piqued.

"Where are they?"

"In the fridge. Uncle Kariya bought them for me a few days ago."

Young Sakura replied.

With Zouken dead, the gloom in her heart had lifted somewhat.

Even her hoarse voice regained some vitality.

"What's a fridge?"

"It's... well, come with me, and you'll see."

Taking Broly's hand, young Sakura led him up the stairs.

She didn't want to stay in the bug pit for another moment.

After leaving the basement, she headed straight for the kitchen.

"This is the fridge."

In the kitchen, she opened the fridge and showed it to Broly. The cold air that wafted out startled Broly.

The little Saiyan jumped back, wary of the cold-emitting device. When no information appeared in his mind, he turned to the girl for an explanation.
