Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Breakup! We must break up!:
(At Jinhui Shopping Plaza)
Bang!
With a cold expression, Zhou Yanqing threw the Gucci and Hermès-logoed shopping bags Qin Han had handed her onto the ground.
“Qin Han! Can’t you have even a little ambition? Buying empty branded bags and filling them with fake luxury goods to pass them off as genuine gifts for me? Do you know how embarrassing it’s been for me in my social circle because of those counterfeit clothes you gave me?”
She glared at him, her voice sharp with frustration. “Everyone’s saying I’m vain and pretending to have money when I clearly don’t. They think I’m a joke!”
Qin Han looked completely bewildered.
“Fake? How could it be fake? I just bought this from the store!”
Ridiculous.
Would someone as wealthy as him—a true tycoon with resources beyond imagination—need to buy fake goods?
But Zhou Yanqing didn’t believe him for a second, and she sneered, “Qin Han, be a man for once. Fake is fake, no matter what excuse you give me.
“And aren’t you already full of lies? That painting you gave my dad—dare you say it’s not a forgery?
“My mom wanted something simple, like a few potted plants. But you? You brought a vase instead.
“And not just any vase—you gave us this ridiculously over-the-top one! My relatives even said it looked like some Qianlong-era ‘Prosperity and Abundance’ vase. Don’t tell me it’s real! I looked it up—it was auctioned for 5 billion yuan at one point!”
She took a deep breath, her tone filled with disdain.
“And all those jade pieces, emeralds, and other things you’ve gifted my parents and me—I don’t even need to examine them closely. Are any of them real?
“And even if they were, could you afford any of it? You’re too pretentious, too fake.
“So… let’s break up!”
Faced with Zhou Yanqing’s outburst, Qin Han fell silent.
Should he tell her the truth?
That he had actually activated a ‘Super Tycoon System,’ making him a billionaire several times over? That dating her had been his attempt to escape the excesses of wealth and live a simpler life with his childhood sweetheart?
That the vase worth billions and the paintings costing tens of millions were just pocket change to him?
Forget it.
Saying it would only ruin everything.
The relationship would lose all meaning.
Besides…
When had his once-simple childhood sweetheart become so materialistic?
If she hadn’t been obsessed with what her friends’ boyfriends were buying them, would he have felt compelled to give her LV and other luxury goods?
Her family didn’t like him either. They judged him harshly, wanting them to break up as soon as possible.
This relationship had lost its spark.
Even dating a fresh-faced model sounded more appealing now.
Qin Han let out a faint sigh.
“So, you really want to break up?”
“Break up! We must break up!”
“Are you sure you won’t regret it?”
“Only a fool would regret this! I must’ve been blind to agree to date you!”
“Alright then, let’s break up.”
Qin Han bent down, picked up the shopping bags, and turned away. He walked toward the parking garage beneath the mall, his steps light.
A few minutes later…
He drove his understated car out of the mall’s parking lot.
At a corner, his eyes met Zhou Yanqing’s again.
His expression remained calm.
Zhou Yanqing, on the other hand, seemed to hesitate for a moment. But she couldn’t resist a parting shot: “Hah! Here’s some advice, Qin Han. Get a better car. Otherwise, everyone can see through your tricks. It’s obvious you can’t afford genuine luxury goods.”
The corners of Qin Han’s mouth twitched. He smiled faintly and nodded.
“Noted. Thanks for the advice.”
With that, he stepped on the accelerator and merged into the bustling traffic.
All attachments… completely let go.
From now on…
They would part ways and seek their own happiness.
…
An hour later, in a seaside villa…
Wearing a robe, holding a glass of champagne, Qin Han leaned against the railing, gazing at the endless ocean. He took a sip, a relaxed smile on his face.
With a fresh haircut and no more oversized glasses, his charisma was back in full force. He looked dazzling—like a firefly shining brightly in the dark night.
“No more pretending to be ordinary. This feels amazing!”
“Hahaha…”
With a leap, he jumped directly from the balcony into the swimming pool below.
The water splashed, sparkling like diamonds.
After swimming a lap, Qin Han moved like a fish, agile and powerful, sending another spray of water onto the pool deck as he climbed out.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
His phone, lying nearby, rang once again.
He picked it up, glanced at the number, and frowned slightly.
“Hmm?”
“Why is it her?”
He answered the call, and a crisp, excited voice came through.
“Wow! Qin Han! Did you really break up with Zhou Yanqing?”
“Hahaha—”
“I told you from the start you two wouldn’t last, but you didn’t believe me!”
The corner of Qin Han’s mouth twitched.
“Zhou Lingxuan, how did you find out so quickly? And don’t forget, Zhou Yanqing is your sister. Is it really okay for you to sound so happy about this?”
On the other end of the line, Zhou Lingxuan, a tall and stunning beauty with an innocent face, laughed and said, “Sister? We’re just half-sisters.
“And honestly, do I even have a place in that family? Sometimes I wonder if people think my mom picked me out of the trash while raising her.
“Everything good—clothes, food, attention—it’s all hers. Me? I’m like a dumpster child.
“And does she treat me like a sister? She’s always so condescending, as if I’m her pet or something.”
Qin Han smacked his lips but didn’t argue.
“Alright, but how did you know about the breakup?”
Zhou Lingxuan giggled. “Big brother, haven’t you checked your phone? Your ex has already posted about it in her friend circle. She’s back to being single and even invited her girlfriends out tonight to celebrate.
“You didn’t know?”
Qin Han paused, surprised by Zhou Yanqing’s eagerness.
“So, how are you feeling? Heartbroken? If you want, I can give you a chance. Treat me to dinner and a movie tonight!”
Though her voice remained cheerful, Qin Han detected a subtle tremor.
He went silent for a moment.
Was his former sister-in-law interested in him?
Why not?
The idea even felt a little thrilling.
“Alright. Let’s meet at the food street on Yellow River Road in an hour?”
“Yes! Yes! See you there!”
After hanging up, Zhou Lingxuan clutched her chest, feeling her heart race.
“He actually agreed!”
“Hahaha!”
“He finally agreed!”
“Yay!”
Her eerie laughter echoed in the dorm room, drawing curious glances from her roommates.
“Zhou Lingxuan, have you gone mad?”
“Why are you so happy? Did some campus heartthrob ask you out?”
“Come on, Lingxuan, you’re one of the top beauties at our school. Can’t you act a bit more reserved?”
“Tell us, who’s the lucky guy? Is it that mysterious one?”
Zhou Lingxuan grinned smugly.
“You’ll never guess!”
…
