Chapter 2: Chapter: 2
Chapter 2
Waking up in the morning wasn't always a pleasant affair, especially with Rias Gremory as my roommate. Now, you might wonder what the problem could be. Well, Rias has a tendency to sneak into my room, and the issue is… she doesn't wear clothes to sleep and clings to me in her sleep like a human-sized teddy bear. And it didn't help that I was much shorter than her.
"Rias… Rias…" I tried, though my voice was muffled against her, uh, chest.
With a sigh, I managed to angle my head just enough to catch the clock. It was five o'clock—thirty minutes earlier than I usually wake up, and no chance of getting back to sleep with her arm around me. I snaked one hand to her side, pressing a finger against her and sending a light jolt of electricity. She let out a cute yelp, jolting awake, and looked at me with an adorable pout.
"That's not nice," she grumbled.
I grinned. "Consider it punishment."
With a huff, she released me, sitting up with a stretch. I followed suit, rolling my shoulders.
"All right, hurry and get dressed. We're starting training early today," I told her.
"What? So early? Hm, fine…" Rias said, rubbing her eyes, still clearly sleepy.
"Is this the proud heiress of the Gremory family huffing like a kid?" I teased with a smirk.
"Bleh!" She stuck her tongue out at me, and we both broke into laughter.
"Meet you downstairs in five?" I asked, chuckling as I wiped a stray tear from my eye.
"Yeah," she nodded, heading to her room.
After a quick change, I made my way down to the kitchen. Training together was something we started a few days after I told Rias about my power, Infinite Arsenal. Since then, she's helped me understand it better, especially with elemental manipulation. So far, I've managed to master lightning, water, ice, fire, wind, earth, and teleportation.
I reached into the cupboard, pulling out two bowls and pouring milk, then some Lucky Charms. Rias appeared right on time, wearing a green tracksuit with her hair tied back.
"Just in time." I slid her bowl across the counter.
"Thanks! Coo Coo Puffs?" she asked, spotting the box in the pantry.
"Help yourself."
As Rias poured her cereal, we took our bowls into the living room, settling on the couch. I turned on *Dragon Ball Z Abridged* and we ate in comfortable silence, the TV filling the room with familiar voices and over-the-top action.
"So, how's Akeno and the others?" I asked after a moment.
"Everyone's fine," she replied, taking a bite.
"Anything interesting happen lately?"
"Not really, just the usual."
I hummed, satisfied. We finished our breakfast and headed to the backyard, the early morning air crisp and cool. Rias and I stood across from each other, the atmosphere shifting into something more serious as we prepared to spar.
"All right, let's get started." Lightning sparked to life across my body, crackling with energy.
"Right," Rias nodded, releasing her Power of Destruction.
With a flick of my wrist, I shot a barrage of lightning bolts her way, which she met with blasts of P.O.D., reducing the air around her to a haze of dust. I dashed forward in a streak of electricity, appearing at her side with a lightning-charged punch. She blocked it with a P.O.D.-coated hand, her eyes sharp with determination as she swung a counter right hook. I barely managed to block, but the force pushed me back.
Not missing a beat, she rushed forward, unleashing a flurry of P.O.D.-enhanced punches that forced me on the defensive. I released a burst of lightning from my body, forcing her back, and summoned five ice spears, which I launched at her.
Rias's eyes widened slightly in surprise, but she quickly regained her focus, blasting the spears with a concentrated burst of P.O.D., creating an explosion of ice shards. Hidden by the shards, I teleported behind her, managing to land a quick series of jabs that sent her skidding backward. As she steadied herself, I conjured an electrified water dragon, which charged toward her, roaring as it coiled through the air.
Catching herself, Rias narrowed her eyes, releasing a massive wave of P.O.D. that obliterated the dragon in one hit. She scanned the area, but I teleported behind her again, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Checkmate," I said, smiling.
Rias looked back with a sigh, dispersing her P.O.D. "All right, you win."
"Yep," I replied, grinning. Glancing up, I noticed the sun rising higher into the sky. "It's getting late. We should get ready for school. We'll pick up where we left off this evening… unless you've got Devil business?"
Rias shook her head. "Nope. Tonight works for me."
We shared a smile and headed inside, ready to face the day after an early morning battle. Just another day in our unique, chaotic lives.
