Blue lock: the true egoist

Chapter 7: First match (2/2)

*whistle*

"It's half time boys" the coach yelled out.

We all went to our respective teams, sat down and drank some water, everyone was very focused and quiet which made the mood pretty tense.

After Nathan scored the equalizer the game calmed down. Both sides were pretty even but that only added on to the pressure since now both sides are doing their best to win and everyone is trying to show off their personal skills.

I managed to receive a few occasions but all of them resulted in me trapping the ball badly and losing it. I knew I couldn't keep this going for any longer than it already did.

Most of my teammates lost trust in me and I knew that if I kept it going I wouldn't get any more passes and with my current level I couldn't score without getting a pass from my teammates.

After thinking for a bit longer I took my decision and went to talk to Nathan.

"For the second half I want you to rely on me and send me as many passes as you can. I know I currently can't trap the ball that well but if it's your passes it'll already be way easier." I asked him while hoping for my idea to work, it's true that I couldn't trap passes for now but since his passes were the best of the team it would already help a lot.

"I did try to pass to you in the first half but as you saw it didn't go as well as expected." He tried to say it in a nice way but I knew what he meant, he also started losing trust in me.

"Just do as I say. Pass the ball to me and leave it to me."

After giving out those last words I went back to sitting down alone. I knew I did make an assist but it was worthless if I couldn't win the game. though I don't want to win the game by doing nothing but being there to make a defender busy.

Even the opposite team no longer took me as a threat because of my 2 consecutive bad trapping, they no longer guarded me as seriously. So I knew what I needed to do. I had to find a way to create a way for myself to score.

That was the best way to change the flow of the game. And even if I might regret it in the future I know that it's currently necessary.

'Put 20 stat points in trapping and 5 stat points in volley."

[Trapping: 10-> 30

Volley: 28-> 33]

"The game is gonna start again in 2 minutes. Get back in your positions!" The coach yelled.

This time the kickoff was on our side. So after the whistle was blown by the ref I repeated last times strategy. I simply passed the ball back to Nathan and ran straight towards the opposite teams defense.

As expected Nathan advanced with the wingers while being backed up by our 2 midfielders.

Right when Nathan managed to free himself up and run up on the right wing, the winger advanced to the striker position since he thought Nathan wouldn't pass to me anymore.

Everyone in both teams had the same thoughts so I found myself with a very loose defense and Nathan didn't fail to notice that.

He sent a very strong but accurate long pass who curved right in front of the winger's face who was trying to hit it with his head and ended up coming straight towards me.

At everyone's surprise I managed to trap it while it was still mid air which surprised even the coach who saw I had a hard time trapping even normal passes earlier.

But before even giving anyone the time to understand what happened I took advantage of my position inside the penalty box and hit it with a volley right after trapping the ball.

The ball flew straight towards the net while the goalkeeper was too surprised to even move.

1-2 in the 37th minute.

"Gooood jobbb!!" Nathan was the first one to come jump on my back.

"Hahahaha I told you to just trust me with that one!" It was hard to hide my happiness after scoring my first goal ever in a match.

The feeling of having everyone being grateful after scoring a goal. It was almost addicting.

This time the kickoff was on their side and I knew I couldn't help in the defense so as soon as their kick off was played I simply walked slowly towards the opponents defense.

That weird move somehow managed to distract them during their attack and that moment was all that was needed for one of our midfielders to steal the ball and send it straight towards me.

By that time I was already past the midfielders. The only people between me and the goal were the 2 center backs but from the side of my eye I could see their left back leaving his position to come stop me.

I kept running straight towards their defense and soon enough Nathan was by my side.

"Jude! One two!" He asked for a one two but I knew very well that my passing skills being at 10 would hinder that.

One of the defenders came running straight towards me while the other was guarding Nathan. But as soon as he asked for a one two both of them looked at Nathan and that was the opportunity I was looking for.

I waited until my defender was close enough to me and right when he came in contact range I faked a pass to Nathan and right after followed up by a roulette which left him behind me.

Everyone was shocked at my solo run and Nathan was also faked by my fake pass but I wasn't planning on stopping on such a good run.

I could see the goal being right in front of me, the last barrier was that blonde keeper. I ran as close as I could from goal before the left back could catch up to me.

As soon as he reached my side I shot the ball with my right foot as strongly as I could.

Right when I thought I was about to score an easy goal their goalkeeper jumped towards it and managed to hit it with his fingers. His flexibility was almost inhumane.

The ball deviated from its original course and hit the goalpost, by pure luck it fell down right in front of me so I learned on the left back who was guarding me and directly followed up with a volley shot.

This one ended up being way weaker than the earlier one cause I was bothered by the defender who managed to push me off balance but even then it went right through the goal.

I purposefully shot it to the opposite side where the keeper fell after saving my shot so it went in with no problem.

"You're amazing dude!!!!" Nathan jumped on my back once again. But this time the whole team joined on the celebration.

"I really thought you went nuts after that solo run hahahaha" one of our wingers said.

It's true that this was the first time I showed my dribbling skills in this match. But after learning for a week from none other than Lavinho and observing his technique I was confident that my dribbling was my second strongest weapon.

My strongest weapon currently being my volley shot which is at 33, if I combine it with my trapping at 30 and agility at 37 as well as my 32 balance. I had the perfect goal formula for centers.

Even though I know I'm still weak compared to the blue lock players, I still had 2 whole years to improve. By the time I'm 16 I'll be sure to have reached a whole other level.
