Blue lock: the true egoist

"Good job Jude I'm expecting you to get your hat trick in the second half" Alex was in a pretty nice mood after our domination in the first half.

"Good job for keeping the cages clean" I complimented him back.

"Hahahaha thanks to our defense they couldn't even get a clear shot towards our goal." Nathan joined in on our conversation.

"We can always count on Pedro for that hahahaha" haven't someone like him in the defense was such a huge advantage for us.

At half time our team's moral was at the highest possible. Everyone was in a great mood. Winning this game would mean a lot to us.

Unfortunately unknowingly to us someone have been watching this match and decided to interfere.

At half time the B team made a surprising change, they subbed out one of their midfielders who clearly played very well and subbed in a pretty short dude with black hair and some red dyed stands of hair.

I didn't really care about that but after I saw the reactions of our captain who clearly froze up after seeing him I knew something was wrong. Our captain immediately went to go talk to the new subbed in player.

"Why are you here??" He looked not only surprised but also worried.

"I've been observing the match since the beginning and simply thought of joining in on the fun. And since the B team was losing I chose their side hahaha." He seemed to be a very carefree guy.

Pedro seemed to immediately resign and stopped arguing then turned around to go back to hisposition with a serious face.

"Who is that guy?" I asked him as he walked past me.

"That guy? He's a stubborn asshole. But other than that he's the captain of the main U15 team, the captain of the A team. And by far our star player."

What? The A team's star player? Was he really that strong?

The coach suddenly gave us new instructions. We were told to be fully on the defensive and make sure they don't get to touch the ball. That was such a drastic change compared to the instructions of the first half.

The only exceptions were me and Nathan. We were asked to go for the counter attack but immediately pass the ball back if that guy came in front of us.

To think that a single man was able to put such a pressure on our team. I knew I shouldn't underestimate him but that was still hard to believe.

This time the kickoff was on their side. Their striker immediately passed it back towards their new star player.

He simply juggled with the ball while slowly advancing towards us. I didn't plan on simply watching this and waiting so I ran up to him to put on some pressure.

But soon enough I learned that it was a huge mistake. As soon as I came to his level he stopped his juggling and accelerated past me in an instant.

I didn't even have time to process what happened before he also got past Nathan. He continued with his dribbles with 2 wingers running by his sides.

But he didn't even look at them and kept dribbling through our midfield and soon enough came face to face with Pedro.

Surprising this time Pedro didn't pull any crazy tackle and simply stood at some reasonable distance from him.

Each time he tried faking a dribble towards one side or the other Pedro didn't commit to it and simply stayed at a reasonable distance to be able to react to anything.

"You're indeed at a high enough level to maybe even enter the A team. I wonder why you're not in the B team yet. But who cares." After saying those words he rushed straight towards Pedro which threw him off guard.

He feigned a run to the left then crossed to the right and followed up by a roulette to cross again to the left, with which he nutmegged Pedro and went past him.

Soon after he easily got rid of all the other defenders and even nutmegged one of them. Once he was face to face with the goal he simply shot it in a pretty weak manner but extremely accurately towards the top corner.

Unsurprisingly Alex failed to stop it. Nobody could've seen this coming but in the short span of 4 minutes. They already scored a goal.

2-1 in the 49th minute.

Now I finally understood why everyone was so worried after seeing him enter the field. That man was indeed enough to turn the tides of this game.

This kick off I sent the ball back towards Nathan as usually but this time unlike our usual aggressive plays he kept it in the back and even played some passes with Pedro.

Our goal this time was clearly to try and waste as much time as possible. That was the best way possible to secure a win without risking getting destroyed.

But unfortunately they understood this and opted for a very high pressing. I tried to use this chance to go past their midfield and ask for a pass but they were all way too focused on keeping the possession to even notice me.

And soon enough the A team's star proved his worth once again by blocking a pass by using a sliding tackle and immediately passing the ball towards his winger who was already running towards our goal.

The defenders tried stopping him but the winger was accompanied by their striker who managed to free himself from the man who was guarding him.

They didn't waste this occasion and after a precise pass from their winger, the striker was left alone face to face with the goal.

He shot the ball to the right side as strong as he could but this time Alex didn't let that happen and easily catches it.

Luckily we can count on our new ace keeper. The only reason he couldn't catch the star's shot was probably because of the weird spin added to the shot.

After this Alex played the ball to the defenders who advanced slowly accompanied by our midfield. They were all too scared to repeat the same mistake and get the ball stolen.

Our opponents noticed that and pressed us even more aggressively than before.

"Pass it here!!" Nathan was the only one who ran up and called for the ball.

Pedro saw him running past their midfield and knew that it was our time to counter.

He sent a long pass towards Nathan who managed to catch it and keep running towards their goal.

He managed to get past one defender and then changed his course and went towards the wing.

The second center back thought he was trying to shoot from a weird angle and followed him which gave me enough space to position myself.

Nathan immediately noticed me and sent a center towards me. I could see their left back trying to run towards me but he was way too late.

Right as I was about to shoot a volley I got a light push from the back which pushed me off balance and made me have to trap the ball.

"You guys are a quite interesting duo." It was none other than that bastard, the star midfielder. That guy came back to the defense at a ridiculous speed.

He positioned himself between me and the goal. I could see Nathan being guarded tightly and I had no confidence in my passes so I had to somehow find a way to get past him.

I tried dribbling past him but each time I faked a run he was right in front of me ready to take the ball away from me. I had to be extremely cautious.

That gave enough time to the left back who managed to catch up and reach me, seeing him run straight towards me gave me an idea

I rushed straight towards him and right as the ace midfielder tried to interfere and take the ball from me I went past their left back with a simple dribble and used him as a cover to stop their midfielder.

I tried to take advantage of that little time I gained to get closer to the goal and shoot as strongly as I could, unfortunately the goal keeper managed to touch the ball and deviate it from its trajectory.

But that's when Nathan appeared out of nowhere and shot the ball again. He was at the perfect position to receive the ball and make use of that chance.

And that's how even against such a stupidly strong opponent we managed to still keep our advantage in the score.

3-1 in the 78th minute thanks to Nathan's great play.
