Chapter 10: Chapter 9
Did anyone got the number of that TANK that ran her over.
Tatsuki felt like she had a few rounds against world champions in heavy weight boxing. So yeah, not good.
But she knew that there was no meaning about just whining about the pain and decided to do something about it, like opening her eyes and seeing Cain's bored face looking at her.
"Finally awake, huh." He said as she tried to not scream in fright. This guy had just gave her powers and she could be logical
"Where… where are we?" She said, her voice rough and her throat dry. So she was very thankful when Cain gave her a glass of water.
"In my house, thought that it would be somewhat rude to leave you in the park." Yeah, it would be.
"Did it work?" she asked hesitantly, the thought of going through that pain for nothing was a stuff for nightmares.
"Hmm, oh yeah, it worked. There is a carving on your soul now, your powers should properly appear in a day or two." Cain said nonchalantly as he opened up a can drink and took a sip from it.
"Why... Why two days?" Tatsuki asked while trying to keep her irritation out of her voice. Sure she was getting powers for pretty much free if you don't count the horrific pain but after that pain she was kinda hoping to go and kick some monster ass. Get some payback after what that hentai reject did.
"Cause I am not as good as the guy who invented this. Don't worry and just take it easy, something you should be doing anyway after getting attacked by a hollow." Cain said as he looked at her challengingly and she had to admit that he kinda had a point. Inside her head, no way she was gonna admit it out loud.
"So, what kind of powers did I get?" She asked, definitely not changing the subject to something she was more comfortable with.
"Well, I carved 'dragon' into your soul so you should get powers associated with them. Not sure how many of them though." Cain shrugged but honestly, she was a bit busy with her wide eyes to care much about it.
"Dragon! Dragons are real?!" She yelled out and felt that it was justified since that was another bomb shell dropped on her in the last few hours.
"Well... yes and no." Cain looked a bit unsure about it. "No, there are no flying lizards who breath fire. Yes, there probably had been a hollow or two who looked like a dragon." The transfer student shrugged, looking not sure what to say.
Before she could ask anything else, he got up from his seat and continued talking.
"But that is enough excitement for today! Now you are going home and getting some proper rest." He said with a tone that brokered no arguments but she still thought about objecting before the pain in her joints, arms, legs back... pain in her pretty much everywhere reminded her of their existence and she had to agree with him. So she left with one last 'goodbye'.
She had gotten quite a bit more stronger than I had expected.
Before the ceremony, she had as much as spiritual power as... what I expected from a shinigami recruit. Now she had enough to be a seated officer, not sure which seat she would be though.
Anyway, the point is she had gotten a far greater power up than I had expected and that was before her powers properly kicked in.
It was both surprising and not. In Bleach; Yhwach's right hand man, the Balance guy, had claimed that Ishida had gotten a power up greater than any training he did after the defeat of Aizen combined with his Schrift after all so her getting a power up wasn't surprising, hell it was the whole point of the ceremony.
But this was the first that I had done something like this and I wasn't anywhere near as powerful as the evil mustache guy so I had expected the power up to be quite a bit tamer than what Tatsuki had.
Maybe it was because I had carved a complete word rather than just a letter. As far as I knew Yhwach only gave the letter and the powers then came to being by themselves. Jugram had no idea about Ishida's Schrift after all.
None of these mattered much though. What mattered to me right now was the spiritual pressure of a hollow near my house. Hope that it didn't scare Tatsuki... could she even sense just because she got a power up?
Bah didn't matter.
The hollow in front of me was far more interesting. A rather small thing after I had seen a Gillian but it definitely was stronger than the hentai reject Chandeler that had tried to kill Tatsuki and it was still almost as big as a bear. It looked like some sort of cross between a dog and a lion, funnily enough it's mask even looked like the face of a komainu. With an open jaw with fangs and everything.
It was growling towards me, showing that it had very weak survival instincts. I could kill it with a casual shot from my gun but I wanted to try something else. So I focused spirit particles around my cross but instead of a gun I tried to form a different weapon. Something more elegant and befitting a civilized age if you will.
Unfortunately, it didn't turn into a lightsaber. But it did become a proper sword. A Japanese broadsword with a fur guard and a black handle.
It wasn't exactly what one would expect from a Quincy weapon but I wasn't exactly a conventional Quincy either was I.
The sword felt like it was perfectly balanced. I wasn't exactly a master of swords but it felt like a pretty good one. Definitely good enough to cut down this overgrown rover.
I even got a perfect opportunity to prove it since the komainu hollow decided to be a good sport and leaped at his own death with wide jaws. Then I slashed it in half and watched as it became spirit particles and entered my shadow. Rather underwhelming.
"My my my, that was quite interesting." I definitely did NOT scream in fright when a voice came from my behind.
I did make a good impression of a grasshopper with how far I jumped though.
"Come now, there is no reason to be scared of me. I'm just an ordinary shop owner after all." Urahara Kisuke had sneaked up on me with a lollipop in his hand and his hat shadowing his eyes.
"Now, would you be willing to have a talk?" Urahara asked with a smile that even the devil wouldn't trust.
