BJ Villainess

Chapter 209

Channel managers were not powerless beings. Especially those managing top channels, they possessed tremendous amounts of coins, making them powerful enough to offset their humble origins with sheer force.

Coins were energy. Therefore, a channel manager ranked around sixth could have a force more powerful than many high-ranking constellations. That’s why the current situation was both highly unusual and shocking.

The chairmen, startled, turned pale and immediately followed the secretary to the scene of the incident. Only Ozworld followed leisurely, feeling more curious than cautious. Who could commit such audacious acts?

“There have been anti-fans who killed channel managers before.”

A high-ranking constellation had avenged their favored BJ by killing a channel manager who had killed them out of annoyance. Since then, unless going through official procedures due to possession errors that ruined a BJ, channel managers could not kill arbitrarily. Similarly, constellations facing massive penalties for killing a channel manager made such acts virtually extinct.

Rules usually come into being that way, don’t they? Yet, after a long time, a channel manager was murdered again. The perpetrator didn’t act like a typical anti-fan, meticulously hiding their identity while only extracting the core and leaving the body as if on display, almost like a warning.

“A warning, is it?”

They don’t know who it is, but someone in the Pantheon harbored significant resentment. Interesting.

Channel managers from first to sixth rank had been killed, based on yesterday’s rankings before the update. Thus, Ozworld was next in line. By the time he arrived at the scene, the chairmen had already taken necessary actions.

“Have all the constellations in this area been checked?”

“Yes, but we found no one suspicious.”

The chairmen showed annoyance as Ozworld arrived with a stroll or glanced at him suspiciously.

Channel managers, who haven’t yet accepted the fact that Ozworld is Alpha, approached him with a stiff face. “Why are you only showing up now? Are you hiding the culprit?”

Ozworld’s slightly improved mood due to curiosity was spoiled by their petty complaints.

“If you want to accuse me, bring evidence first.”

His dismissive response infuriated the channel managers.

“If you didn’t want to be suspected, you should’ve acted cooperatively! Isn’t it common sense to behave and scrutinize your actions, especially at times like this?!”

“Everyone is on edge. We can’t even figure out how the channel manager was so easily killed. Why are you so relaxed?”

The channel managers already considered Ozworld behind the murders or wished desperately for his expulsion.

Ozworld shrugged. “They died because they were weak. Is there any other reason?” His comment ignited outrage.

“What? Died because they were weak? Are you insane?!”

“I can see why your anti-fans are obnoxious for a reason. I’d want you expelled immediately!”

Beta intervened to calm the heated atmosphere. “Enough, everyone. And Ozworld, since you’ve been negligent in your duties as chairman by using a representative, could you now uphold your dignity?”

Beta’s polite request was met with Ozworld’s smirk, his lips curling more on one side.

“Sure. I’m not a fan of unnecessary conflicts, after all.”

Ozworld passed the channel managers with disdain as if they were mere pebbles in his path. His interest was in the corpse of Channel Manager Oscar. Kneeling to examine the glistening slime, Ozworld tilted his head.

“The culprit is a magic user.”

“Magic…?” The others were taken aback, not expecting such a claim.

“They took out the core of the channel manager with such a low ability?”

Magic was a very basic form of power, omnipresent like air. The idea that such a commonplace force could kill a channel manager was unbelievable.

Beta looked at Ozworld curiously. “The inspectors found no trace of magic in the previous victims. Is this reliable?”

Ozworld showed them the faintly mixed magic particles within the slime. Upon closer inspection, everyone could see the subtle golden glow amidst the shimmering viscous substance.

“Previous murders were done with enough leeway to hide any trace of magic. This time, the culprit must have been in a hurry.”

“Hmm…” Despite seeing the magic with their own eyes, disbelief lingered.

Among the constellations, there were a few that originated from magic users. However, they were the minority, and even they transitioned to different powers as their souls ascended. Channel managers, typically lower souls, still used magic, but powerful acts required coins.

“What on earth is happening?” Epsilon murmured in disbelief when Ozworld stood up, staring toward the airship landing area.

“Who knows. But we’ll soon find out.”

“What?”

“Because the culprit is boldly hiding right there, it seems they still have a target.”

Before his sentence finished, Ozworld vanished, reappearing where he intended, blocking an incoming attack.

Kugugung!

A thunderous noise shook the airship landing area, compressing all the airships with immense pressure—a neat job. Despite appreciating the clean yet powerful attack, Ozworld thought that if it had not been aimed at him, he might have recruited the attacker for Ozworld Company.

A figure charged through the rising smoke, unrelenting.

Crack!

Ozworld offered one arm while piercing the attacker’s shoulder with his skull-topped staff. They exchanged blows, pausing briefly. Finally, the much-anticipated figure of the attacker entered his view.

“Black butterfly?”

The person wore a black butterfly mask, a symbol now closely associated with Theresa, to Ozworld’s surprise.

“An anti-fan of mine or a victim’s coalition?”

Using a symbol related to his BJ implied the attacker had a grievance against him.

Instead of responding, the masked person attacked again, lightning striking from the sky. Ozworld didn’t stay idle, possessing enough coins to tear through space-time. Despite the vast expenditure of coins for each ability used, Ozworld drilled dozens of black holes, indicating the seriousness of the threat.

The masked person blocked every spatial tear with magic.

“Remarkable. Magic is generally a low-tier power, but yours is exceptional.”

The attacker’s voice, altered, responded, “The essence of power is the same, after all.”

“Good point.”

For the first time in a long while, Ozworld’s eyes sparkled with vitality. The attacker’s method revealed much about their character: precise, efficient, merciless, and relentless. A genius in power and skill, fascinating Ozworld.

“Why waste such talent on the mundane task of killing channel managers?”

Killing someone was too simple and boring. Astonishingly, when you become omnipotent, it eradicates the reason to live, at least for Ozworld. He sought stimulation, which led him to channel management.

Broadcasting was an experiment with humans, creating new scenarios to elicit fresh reactions, thrilling the Pantheon. It was fun, feeling like a creator, momentarily easing his chronic boredom.

But that was fleeting. Ozworld realized, despite his omnipotence, he could never become a true creator, already being ’a character’ himself. Broadcasting became routine, its success formula mundane. Yet, everyone loved his broadcasts without effort.

And when dreadful boredom returned, he discovered Shin Jiwoo. A woman desiring love is cliché and tiresome at first glance. Her genre compatibility even pointed to romance. Yet, he chose impulsively.

Romance is in trend. I might as well give it a shot.

But was that all?

Ozworld launched at the masked person, ready to end it. But the masked person turned all surrounding magic particles into explosives.

Haa,

how bothersome.” Ozworld, almost whining, focused on perfectly defending against the attacker’s moves. Honestly, he didn’t care if the surrounding area exploded, warping space-time in the process. But he countered anyway because not doing so would mean prolonging his stay in the Pantheon, delaying his return to <God’s Play>. He had no choice but to go along with the attacker’s intent to shake him off.
