Chapter 2: Tutorial Stage (1)
"Well... That's certainly slightly ominous. I just hope this doesn't cause any problems..." Soren commented nervously, as he closed the last panel and worried about the potential consequences of using his real name in a game, although should anyone ask if he truly used his real name, he could always lie and say he used a random name. As he decided to stop worrying about what has already happened, another similar panel appeared in front of him.
Would you like to start your tutorial? [YES] [NO]
Note: It is highly suggested to go through the tutorial, if you are a first time player.
"Of course I'll do the tutorial. No way I'm jumping into this game blind, especially now that I need to fix my sensitivity settings." Soren commented eagerly, as he immediately pressed the "Yes" button, before a flash of light engulfed his vision. As the light dissipated, the nearby trees had completely disappeared and instead, were replaced with human-sized straw dolls, weapon racks, plant bushes, bizarre rock formations, a massive table with small tools and books and an anvil, next to a burning furnace. Before he could fully process the sudden change in scenery, another panel appear in front of him.
"Beginner's Tutorial" Quest has been automatically accepted.
Description: A player has to start from somewhere to enter the game and what better to do so that to get a small taste for everything this game has to offer. After the end of the tutorial, the player is free to choose the play style they wish to take on.
"Beginner's Tutorial" Task 1/3: Wield a weapon and strike a doll until it breaks.
"Hmm... I see. Simple enough, but there are no rewards for the tutorial. Then again, they could give the rewards at the end of the tutorial and until I reach it, I won't know what it is." Soren stated with a calm expression, before he grabbed a wooden shortsword from one of the weapon racks and slowly made his way towards the closest straw doll, before giving a good strike on its shoulder. After giving it its first strike, a couple of panels appeared in front of him.
Passive skill [Beginner Sword Proficiency] has been obtained.
Passive skills can be easily obtained by anyone, as long as they perform the associated action for the passive skill, regardless of class, although certain classes have an easier time to obtain certain passive skills. Experiment on your own for more information.
To view your current skills, simply yell out the word "Menu" and press the "Skills" button on your player menu.
"Hm... That's good to know. They really should have spoken about the menu a bit during their interviews. Anyways, Menu!" Once Soren yelled out in the air, a different panel appeared in front of him.

Once he opened the menu, he immediately pressed the "Settings" button, before another menu appeared in front of him.

"So the default setting was 40% all along? Then what the hell was that error message from before?" Soren yelled out furiously, before he decided to close the settings menu and opening the stat and skill menus.

Passive Skills: Beginner Sword Proficiency Lv.1
"Seems simple enough for now. Nothing too complicated and most of the stats seem self-explanatory, although I should probably check later, if possible." Once Soren finished checking through the menus, he decided to focus on destroying the straw doll in from of him, so he started striking the doll with all of his power. After striking the doll a few times and winding himself out, he managed to break one of the doll's straw arms off, but there was no completion prompt, so he decided to sit down for a couple minutes to gather his stamina, before repeating the same process. Thankfully for him, after repeating the same the same process a couple of times, he managed to bend the doll's torso and after one final strike, he heard a powerful crack from inside the doll, before its bent torso split in half an fell on the ground, revealing the broken support beam in its torso's center. As he was about to sit down once more, a couple panels appeared in front of him.
Beginner Sword Proficiency has leveled up. (+1 Strength)
"Beginner's Tutorial" Task 1 Complete. Task 2/3: Perform an ability or spell and destroy a straw doll with it.
"Phew... Finally." Soren commented with a relieved expression, as he was feeling somewhat out of breath, before sitting down to process the information in front of him. Seeing the level up on his passive certainly made him feel happy, but as he give his status a good look once again, he noticed the absence of the character's level and would have been worried of the lack ways to increase his stats, if it wasn't for the passive skill stat increase. After putting away the passive skill message aside, he decided to focus on his second quest, but had no clue on how to even get started with it in the first place.
After thinking and looking around for a bit, he decided to put down his wooden shortsword and make his way towards the table, specifically towards the pile of books near the end of the table and opened the white book, which was on top of the pile of books. After picking it up, another panel message appeared in front of him.
To learn an active spell or ability, you'll need to either use a skill book or reach a certain threshold on your proficiency skills. Warning: All characters start with one active skill slot can only obtain more skill slots either through the increase of the Wisdom stat or certain pieces of equipment.
"Hmm... This is interesting. So we only have a certain amount of skill slots. I guess we can't just learn whatever skill and spell is out there... I guess this balances out for the tutorial." Soren commented, as he examined the white book, before opening it and being me with a prompt.
Would you like to learn the spell [Holy Touch]? [YES] [NO]
"Not yet. Let me check the rest quickly." After pressing the "No" button, Soren decided to go through the rest of the books an got prompts for 7 more different spells, those being "Ignite", "Spark", "Stone Needle", "Gale", "Bubble Shot", "Cursed Claw" and "Cold Breath". Through these spells, he quickly deduced that the game had 8 elemental affinities, at minimum, those being fire, water, earth, wind, ice, lightning, light and darkness and while going through them, he couldn't help but wonder what elements his friends chose, so as to avoid having duplicate element users.
Unfortunately, he had no way of contacting them, since he was unable to open the communications menu to try and contact them. He had told Roland that he wouldn't be necessarily be going into his usual battle style of Front-Line DPS, he never specified what he would actually do. Considering his current circumstances though, he decided to play it safe and chose to learn Holy Touch, to obtain light magic proficiency and hopefully learn some healing spells in the future.
Active skill [Holy Touch] has been obtained.
Passive skill [Bless Magic Proficiency] has been obtained.
Once he learned the Holy Touch spell, his body felt faint for a few seconds, while all of the spell books suddenly combusted into flames and slowly turned into ashes.
