Billionaire's hired Nanny

Chapter 1: First Light

The lights flashed harshly and reporters tried to outdo each other as each wanted to get a better look at the Lloyd's Family entrance.

It's New year and every New year, the State Empire welcomes a prominent family into their world of business. This prominent family was no other than Duncan Lloyd's Family, the man who had exceeded all expectations and had risen to the top within a short period of time.

Hardwork, they say, pays off well and Duncan Lloyd was an evidence of that.

The spotless white limousine came to a smooth halt at the entrance and bodyguards immediately positioned themselves, ready to perform their duties to the fullest. The front door opened and Adrian stepped out.

Adrian was known as Duncan's secretary. His black suit fitted him so well and was handsome enough to be mistaken for a film star.

He rushed over to the other side of the door and opened it.

Hush ~

An eerie silence descended, so heavy was it that you could hear it from miles away. Then he stepped out

The dark blue tuxedo did enough justice to his manly body, his shoe Shone with dark polish. Appearance?

His dark hair was swept neatly to the back and it Shone brightly too, it had a tinge of softness on it and one would be tempted to touch it even just once. His brown hazel eyes seemed to glow perfectly in accordance with the sun up in the sky, those eyes, so intoxicating and magnetising yet they seemed full of mysteries.

From where he stood, his sinful lips secretly stretched into a proud smirk. Seeing the expression on their faces was damn satisfying.

The perfect entrance for a perfect man like him! He thought inwardly

At once screams and cheers went up and the media went beserk as they all beheld the beautiful creation of God.

"Mr. Duncan, a word please."

"How does it feel being at the top."

"Marry me please!!"

"Why aren't the little royals here today with you?"

"Mr. Duncan...!"

The guards spread out protectively as they escorted him safely inside, the rest of the guards stayed behind to try and calm the media.

"Well that was something." Adrian muttered as they made their way to the top floor where the ceremony would be taking place

The smug look on Duncan's face said he too was pleased.

"Who better to stage an appearance so powerful like that." Duncan grinned darkly as he adjusted his cuff

Adrian rolled his eyes openly. "Your obsession for attention is frightening."

Again Duncan grinned, the kind of grin associated with his mad sense of thinking.

He inhaled deeply as they stood at the entrance of the closed door leading to the hall.

"Smells delicious." His deep voice rang out emotionlessly

"Dude...." Adrian squeezed his face.

All these years and he still wasn't familiar with how weird Duncan could be.

The door opened and they both stepped in, ready to start the New year on a productive and effective note.

What's that thing people say again? Ah right, "Money is the root of all evil."

That's true, money is the root of all evil. But if evil could be as sweet as this then they can all go fûck themselves! If people plan to be broken and poor all their lives, that's their choices, but him. He was getting to the top and that's that. He was going to show them all how it feels to live a life a paradise!

The whole place stank of money! Chandelier? Money, Table arrangements? Money, Food and all the fûcking drinks? Money!!

Everything down to the guests. This was a big accomplishment for him and he planned to keep getting more and more higher.

The guests who saw him as he arrived welcomed him with a standing ovation and a round of applause.

Most were fake, he knew. But they could all go to hell, this was his accomplishment and he did it with hardwork.

Duncan bowed in respect as he walked to the table reserved for him just right beside the President of the State Empire.

"Good to have you Duncan." The man smiled.

This man was Larry Whittington, the owner of the State Empire and a well-known business man. Aged 60 but he had the charm of a young man in his twenties, he was still brimming with youth.

Duncan accepted his handsake and tried to smile as he had been told by Adrian but it came out like forced smiled. Nobody seemed to notice though, he was already handsome enough so no worries about smiling.

Duncan hated smiling, especially faking it. Smiles were the one thing that was as dangerous as being stabbed in the back by a friend.

They both sat down and the ceremony began.

Duncan's phone buzzed and he checked to see a message from his No. 1 competitor.

Don't get it wrong, he was strong yeah but there were two people who could flatten him down to the ground and that were his kids. His No. 1 competitor was his Son Atlas

His brow arched and he typed back a response. He smirked in triumph, he had made sure to seal them off at home so he was sure nothing would hap....

Wait a minute! WHAT!!

Duncan stared hardly at the phone was he read the message over and over again, his grip on the phone tightening and his eyes almost going read.

💬: You have just been debited R1,000,000 from XXXXX

One million?!!

Another message popped up on his phone.

💬: "Thanks for the shoes, they're pure classic." That was from Atlas.

"That brat...." Duncan seethed

The curator was now calling for him to come to the stage but his mind was fixated on the message.

One million for a five year old kid?

The money wasn't the problem but what the actual Fu....!!

"Duncan!!" Larry's voice snapped him back to reality and he looked up.

All eyes on him some staring at him with hatred, others admiration and even lust, he turned back to Adrian who signalled him to get on the stage.

With a tinge of proudness and overflowing arrogance, Duncan stood up, adjusted his suit and walked up to the stage beautifully.

He took the mic from the curator and smiled at the audience.

"Happy New year!" He said and a cheer went up as the whole room went into a clapping frenzy.

Duncan smirked, this year was surely gonna be lovely.
