Chapter 274: Chapter 274: Establishing a Special Bulletproof Company

William opened his eyes and was surprised to see that Catherine, usually so expressionless, was cooperating with Gareth and the others. Standing up, he said to Catherine, "So, you're working with Gareth and his people now?"

"Just cooperating, only cooperating," Gareth quickly explained before Catherine could get angry.

"Cooperating?" William scoffed at the idea. "Once there are shared interests, opponents won't just see it as cooperation. Since we're on the same side, I'll help out with what I can. We'll deal with Silva within a day. You can even watch him die if you want, but I have one condition."

"As long as it's not excessive, I'll agree," Catherine replied sternly.

William smiled slightly. "Don't worry, my condition benefits all of us." He then turned to Gareth and said, "Gareth, could you take off your suit jacket and hang it on the rack over there? Don't worry, I'll send you two new ones tomorrow."

"No problem, I want one in dark brown and one in navy blue," Gareth said as he unbuttoned his jacket and hung it on the rack as William instructed.

Once the suit was hanging, William smiled at Catherine and asked, "This is your office. You must have a handgun here, right?"

Catherine nodded, somewhat puzzled.

"Good, then. Catherine, please take a few shots at that suit. You'll quickly understand its purpose, and it ties into what I want to discuss."

Understanding now, Catherine grew interested in the suit hanging on the rack. A bulletproof suit like this would be ideal for someone in her line of work.

However, when she opened a drawer to retrieve her handgun, she glared at Gareth, who felt a bit frustrated and quickly explained, "Sorry, Catherine, William gave me this suit just after 11 a.m. today."

"Hmph, if you hadn't shielded me during the shooting earlier, do you think you'd still be standing here unharmed?"

Gareth was secretly pleased, feeling that the risk he took earlier was worth it. "It was the right thing to do; after all, you're my boss and ally. It's my duty to protect you."

"No, we're just cooperating; cooperation doesn't make us allies," Catherine corrected him as she handed a custom-engraved CZ83 to William. "You do it. My shooting skills are average, so I won't embarrass myself."

William took the gun and inspected it. "Why do all you special agents use the CZ83? Is it really that good?"

"Try it, and you'll understand its practicality," Gareth said with a smile.

William loaded the gun, cocked it, and asked, "How's the room's soundproofing? We don't want to attract the guards."

"No worries, this office has some special features, so no need for guards," Catherine replied without explaining further, and William didn't ask about sensitive matters. He raised the gun and fired at the suit, spacing the shots out by one or two seconds each.

After firing all ten rounds, William checked the gun, confirmed it was empty, and smiled. "Catherine, how about I keep this gun? I'll make you two suits like this in exchange."

Without waiting for a response, he slipped the CZ83 into his pocket. The compact gun fit easily.

Gareth, noticing Catherine's growing irritation, quickly intervened. "Don't get upset, Catherine. This guy is just being overly cautious. He only took your gun because he's worried we might use it against him, given it has his fingerprints."

"Hand it over; I'll help you wipe the fingerprints off," Gareth said, holding out his hand to William.

Even after being called out, William's expression didn't change. He calmly pulled out the gun and began wiping it with his handkerchief, even breathing on it as he cleaned it. By the time he finished, most of the gun had been covered in his breath, which made Catherine feel disgusted, and she refused to take it back.

"My God, William, you really are a bastard. Keep the gun, but you owe me a replacement, just like this one," Catherine said.

"Sure, no problem," William said, without the slightest hint of shame, as he tucked the gun back into his pocket. "I'll make sure you get an identical one."

Rolling her eyes, Catherine signaled Gareth to retrieve the suit jacket that had been shot ten times.

Gareth walked over and brought the rack closer. Catherine lifted the corner of the jacket to inspect it and saw ten deformed bullets embedded in the fabric. When she flipped it over, the inner lining was completely intact, without a single dent or tear.

William smiled and said, "This suit provides Level IV bulletproof protection, made from nanomaterials. It's only a third the thickness of military-grade versions, making it easy to tailor into any style of clothing. The bulletproof performance is excellent. Even if hit by a rifle, it would only crack a rib; a handgun would just cause some pain. Only special armor-piercing rounds could penetrate this material."

William stood up and walked over to Catherine, shaking the jacket so that the deformed bullets fell to the floor with a series of clinks. "It's also dustproof and waterproof. Unless it gets stained with oil, you won't even need to clean it. So, are you interested?"

"Of course, but how do you want to cooperate?" Catherine and Gareth were both clearly intrigued, their eyes gleaming.

"It's too early to talk about shares in the new company. Even if I wanted to give you some, you wouldn't dare take them."

Catherine interrupted with a smile, "No, William, that's just because you don't want to give us any. If you wanted to, there are ways to make the shares legal. So, just get to the point. However, I hope what you say next is related to shares; otherwise, I'm not interested in hearing it."

"Fine," William conceded, realizing he couldn't fool them. "You've already seen the bulletproof performance firsthand, so no need for further explanation. I need your connections to promote it, and you want to be part of a promising company, right?"

Catherine and Gareth both nodded.

"The current situation is that I don't yet know what contributions you can make to the new company. If you want shares, you'll have to show me your value. For now, for each suit you sell, I'll give you a 10% commission. After selling more than 100 suits, when you retire and no longer hold any position, I'll sell you a 1% stake for every 100 suits sold, up to a maximum of 3%. If you want more shares, you'll need to generate even more profit for the company."

Catherine, eager, asked, "For example?"

William smiled. "For example, securing a national contract for bulletproof gear."

"That's impossible. At £500,000 per suit, no country could afford to equip its forces with them," Catherine said without hesitation. "And how do I know you won't jack up the price when it comes time to sell shares, making it impossible for us to buy?"

"You don't know until you try. As for the company's valuation, don't worry. I'm here to make friends, not enemies. The new company is valued at £1 billion. After you retire—listen carefully, after you retire and hold no position—if you meet the targets, £30 million will get you 3% of the shares, with the contract signed immediately."

He continued, "As for the commission, you can set up a family fund. For each suit sold, I'll donate £500,000 to your family fund through an offshore company. Sell 100 suits, and that's £50 million. I don't think there's an easier way to make money. If we weren't on the same side, this opportunity wouldn't have come your way."

Catherine and Gareth pondered for a moment before agreeing. "Roughly agreed, but I think the lawyers should handle the specifics."

"No problem."

The three of them then discussed the details further. With such a lucrative opportunity at hand, they didn't even bother talking about tracking down the culprit. At this moment, money was king.
