Behemoth Just Lives an Ordinary Life

5 - How Should I Eat This

The 1st Regular Gehenna Great Forest Ain Conference.
For the first time, a meeting of the Ain was realized because of Behemoth’s appearance in the Great Forest.
Elves.
Orcs.
Goblins.
Dwarves.
Lizardmen.
Not all Ain of the Great Forest gathered.
Nevertheless, having five races gather was close to a miracle.
They had been taught by their ancestors to stay away from other Ain.
“Then I’ll get straight to the point~yong.”
In the conference hall where representatives of each race gathered.
A girl with large scaled tail swishing around adjusted her glasses and spoke.
The Lizardmen had put in the most effort to make this meeting happen.
Therefore, the Lizardman representative, Lizardrin, naturally took the role of chairperson for this conference.
“The reason we can gather here like this is because of the mysterious monster~yong.”
Solemn appearance and voice, contrasted with cute sentence endings.
Other races tried to hold back their laughter, then cleared their throats.
Lizardrin briefly showed a displeased expression, then continued.
“We are too differentjong. Like oil and water that can’t mixyong. Lizardmen also know this fact because we learned it from our ancestorsyong. But, because the situation is what it is, I urgently gathered you allyong.”
The reason Lizardmen took the initiative to gather the Ain.
It was because of the story about Behemoth written on the Prophecy Tablet.
“Our Lizardmen ancestors came from outer spaceyong. And they settled on this land bringing something called the Prophecy Tablet from outer spacejong.”
The representative of the Orcs, Ogrille, raised his hand.
He arrived at the conference hall wearing only a huge axe on his back and a pair of underwear.
Only the Goblins, who had green skin like the Orcs, respected his appearance.
Other representatives, including Lizardrin, were looking at him with displeasure, but he didn’t care and raised his hand proudly.
“Please speakyong.”
“If the explanation is long, I can’t understand.”
“I’ll explain as simply as possibleyong…”
Lizardrin began education at Ogrille’s level.
“We Lizardmen have an amazing tablet that has written on it what will happen in the futureyong. And on this amazing tablet, there’s also written about the end of this worldyong. The end of this world is caused by gods, and we all get slaughtered by the beast of calamity created by the godsyong. Do you understand up to hereyong? If you don’t understand, please raise your hand~yong.”
Ogrille raised his hand.
‘Damn idiot bastard.’
Lizardrin smiled her business smile.
“A super strong monster will destroy the worldyong.”
“Is that really true, how do you know that?”
“My grandfather told meyong.”
“I see…”
Ogrille was convinced.
“There’s a record about Behemoth on the Prophecy Tabletyong. A tail stretched like a giant snake, thick legs as tall as the highest and largest tower, a body covered with scales as hard as black steel. One of the beasts of calamity created by God.”
“……”
“We Lizardmen are convinced that the unidentified monster that appeared in the Gehenna Great Forest is Behemothyong.”
The representative of the Dwarves, Drower, raised his hand.
“Please speakyong.”
“It wasn’t that big though?”
“It’s hiding its true formyong. Behemoth becomes gigantic only under the full moon~yong.”
“Hmm, is that so…”
Drower folded his arms.
As someone who had seen Behemoth directly, he thought Lizardrin’s description was exaggerated.
A creature only as big as a huge tree could become that large?
“Are you done speaking~yong?”
“Yes.”
Lizardrin continued to speak.
“The Prophecy Tablet doesn’t tell liesyong. Behemoth is a beast of calamityyong. We must prepare for destruction from now onyong. It would be good to inform humans who have the greatest power about this fact, but humans don’t listen to Ainyong. I think we should somehow join forces even just among ourselves~yong. The best thing would be……”
Before Lizardrin could finish, the Ain raised their hands.
Judging by their expressions, they all seemed to disbelieve Lizardrin’s statement.
Lizardrin had expected this too.
Compared to the smart and wise cold-blooded species, the warm-blooded species had hot heads and were stupid.
It would take a lot of time to persuade them.
This conference was the starting point of persuasion.
“Goblin representative, please speak first~yong.”
The Goblin representative, Gobouji, got the right to speak and opened his mouth.
“It lacks credibility.”
“I already told you about the Prophecy Tabletyong. It’s a tablet where future events are writtenyong.”
Lizardrin sighed.
She had prepared herself, but irritation was rising.
It was inevitable to get angry when they wouldn’t understand even after explaining everything step by step.
Nevertheless, Lizardrin did not lose her kindness and respect.
“The Prophecy Tablet, 532 years ago from now, the planet where our ancestors were…”
“Is what I’ll eat for breakfast tomorrow written on it?”
“…What?”
“Is it written?”
‘What nonsense is this now?’
Lizardrin remained with her mouth open, silent.
She was so taken aback that words wouldn’t come out.
“If it’s written, and you can predict it correctly, I’ll believe you.”
“Such trivial things are of course not written…”
“Then I can’t believe you.”
Gobouji found Lizardrin, who was suddenly talking about some Prophecy Tablet, annoying.
If you’re going to persuade properly, bring evidence, but to believe just because ‘it’s written on the tablet!’?
Gobouji snorted.
“When you don’t know what’s right in front of you, how can you claim to know the future?”
Lizardrin was furious.
How dare this warm-blooded creature criticize their sacred tablet?
“We know the futureyong. That’s obvious, isn’t ityong? When Goblins were fighting monsters with difficulty in the Great Forest and getting eaten, our Lizardmen didn’t suffer any damage at allyong? And also when Goblins were driven out of human territory, we Lizardmen predicted it and migrated to the Great Forest without any damageyong? Do you still not believe~yong?”
Gobouji calmly raised his middle finger.
“Your mother is human.”
“You little bastard~yang!”
Lizardrin stood up abruptly.
Gobouji also stood up abruptly.
They drew their weapons and glared at each other.
Drower just laughed, and Ogrille gripped his axe.
“If you hit someone with green skin, you’ll get hit just as much.”
“Stone-headed bastard, stay out of thisyong!”
“My head is indeed as hard as stone, thanks for the compliment.”
“That wasn’t a complimentyong!”
In the hostile atmosphere, just as Lizardrin was about to land the first blow on Gobouji, that’s when it happened.
The song of the Elves quietly echoed.
[“Our family holds hands, and goes together. Nobel Mart. I’m happy. Nobel Mart, happy happy happy, Nobel Mart, Nobel Ma↗rt~☆”]
Nilia and Nilius.
They sang the beautiful melody they had heard from Behemoth.
Then.
“Hmph.”
Gobouji put his sword back at his waist and sat down, and Lizardrin also sat down.
As the situation calmed down, Drower showed interest.
“A mysterious song with a language structure. Is it an ancient language?”
The siblings who came as Elf representatives just smiled.
Nilius bowed his head to Lizardrin.
“I apologize for singing without the right to speak.”
Rather, the one who should apologize was Lizardrin.
She expressed gratitude to the Elves who had calmed the situation.
“I’m actually gratefulyong. I should be the one apologizing for the disgraceful behavioryong.”
“May I continue the story?”
“Alright~yong.”
Nilius knew why Gobouji had shown an unpleasant reaction.
Also, he knew how much the Lizardmen valued the Prophecy Tablet.
They were a long-lived species, unlike the short-lived species.
The fight between them stemmed not from being wrong, but from being different.
Nilius smiled benevolently.
“I have something to say to Chairperson Lizardrin.”
“What is it~yong?”
“We Elves have received great help from Behemoth, whom the chairperson mentioned. And the Ain who received help are not only us Elves.”
Nilius looked at Gobouji.
To this, Gobouji nodded.
“We Elves suffered under the Devil’s Tree for quite some time. We lost many of our kin to the Devil’s Tree and gained much sorrow. But we couldn’t possibly solve it with our own hands. The Devil’s Tree was truly our natural enemy. Nilia.”
Nilius looked at Nilia.
‘Explain to them the scene you witnessed.’
Nilia sincerely told the Ain about the scene she had witnessed.
Drower and Gobouji showed interest, and Ogrille had no thoughts at all.
“Behemoth helped us Elves. And it’s not just us Elves who received help.”
Gobouji stood up abruptly.
He spoke proudly with a very excited voice.
“That’s right! We Goblins also received help from Behemoth! He hunted the Manticore that was killing our kinsmen. He carried out the blood vengeance we were supposed to do. He acted for us without any compensation!”
“We Dwarves also received help. Not sure if it was intentional, but he easily beat that strong Cyclops to death with his bare hands. Thanks to that, we can now mine gold in the gold mine.”
“Chairperson. If Behemoth is a beast of calamity, why did he help us?”
Lizardrin stuttered.
Unlike when Lizardrin spoke, Nilius’s statement received a lot of agreement.
Deep faith reflected in Nilius and Nilia’s eyes, almost to the point of madness.
“T-that…”
“Of course, as written on the Prophecy Tablet, he could be a beast of calamity. But my kin and I think differently.”
Nilius banged his fist on the table.
“He came down to this land for the Ain. That is a fact.”
“I agree.”
“If Goblin agrees, then I agree too.”
Drower shrugged.
“I’ll remain silent for now.”
Lizardrin frowned.
At least in this conference, it seemed impossible to persuade the Elves.
‘How on earth did he boil and cook them~jong?’
Lizardrin was amazed.
Elves appeared to be a kind and caring race on the outside, but in reality, they were a lofty and arrogant race.
How could they come to worship something other than nature?
‘Does the beast of calamity not only have power but also a cunning tongue~yong…’
Through this, Lizardrin became even more wary of Behemoth.

『The Elves show deep faith in Behemoth.』
『The Goblins show shallow faith in Behemoth.』
『The Dwarves feel grateful to Behemoth.』
『The Orcs still have no thoughts about Behemoth.』
『The Beastkin still have no thoughts about Behemoth.』
『The Lizardmen perceive Behemoth as a threatening evil god.』

“How should I cook this…”
Looking at the monster corpse I brought to the cave, I folded my arms.
