Becoming the Strongest as a Game Dev

Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Sam takes a deep breath and turns his attention to the Stylish Rank system. "Alright, let's see how this works." He navigates the system interface, quickly grasping the concept.

"The Stylish Rank encourages dynamic, creative combat," Sam murmurs, reading the details. "The higher the rank, the better the rewards. Looks like I'll need to focus on chaining combos, using a variety of attacks, and avoiding damage." He grins, already picturing the flashy battles he'll design.

Implementing the Stylish Rank, Sam can now track players' performance in the simulation. "This is going to make things a lot more exciting," he says, fingers flying across the interface as he fine-tunes the parameters.

Sam continues to work on revising and fine-tuning the DMC simulation. It took him a month to finally complete the simulation. Now, all he needs to do is test everything.

Sam steps into the vast, open space of the Simulation Gem, his eyes filled with anticipation. He takes a deep breath and activates the Devil May Cry simulation, ready to immerse himself in the world he has created.

The city of Temen-ni-gru materializes around him, its grand architecture and ominous atmosphere setting the stage. Sam takes a moment to appreciate his handiwork, admiring the level of detail he has achieved.

Without hesitation, he assumes control of Dante, feeling the weight of the Rebellion sword in his hand. Sam begins to navigate the winding streets, his senses heightened as he searches for any potential issues or areas that need refinement.

As he explores, Sam encounters the first of his creations - Cerberus, the three-headed guardian. He grins, ready to put Dante's combat prowess to the test.

Sam tests Dante's skills against Cerberus, evaluating the weapons, skills, and abilities to ensure the boss fights as intended.

Cerberus lets out a deafening roar, the three heads snapping in Sam's direction. He grips the Rebellion sword tightly, his eyes narrowing with focus. The creature's icy aura chills the air, and Sam can feel the temperature drop as it advances.

Quickly, Sam switches to the Swordmaster style, his movements fluid and precise. He darts forward, unleashing a flurry of slashes against Cerberus's thick hide. The blade carves deep gashes, but the creature's regenerative powers seal the wounds almost instantly.

Undeterred, Sam leaps back, switching to Gunslinger. He unloads a barrage of bullets from Ebony and Ivory, aiming for the vulnerable spots between the heads. Cerberus recoils, its icy breath faltering, and Sam seizes the opportunity.

He charges in, activating his Devil Trigger. Demonic energy surges through him, empowering his strikes. Sam lands devastating blows, his combos building in speed and ferocity. Cerberus roars in pain, its movements growing erratic.

Sensing the creature's weakening, Sam switches to Royalguard, anticipating Cerberus's next attack. The three heads lunge forward, but Sam times his parry perfectly, deflecting the assault and leaving the guardian vulnerable.

Sam grips the Rebellion sword tightly, his eyes narrowed with focus. With a swift, graceful motion, he leaps into the air, the blade glinting in the ominous light. In a display of raw power and precision, he brings the sword down, slicing Cerberus clean in half. The three-headed beast lets out a final, agonizing roar as it collapses to the ground, defeated.

Landing with practiced ease, Sam takes a moment to admire his handiwork, the stylish execution of his attack evident in every movement. He sheaths the Rebellion, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips as he surveys the remnants of the once-formidable guardian.

"Excellent, the combat system is performing as expected," Sam murmurs, already considering his next test. With a few taps on the interface, he summons the image of Vergil, Dante's twin brother, onto the simulation.

Sam readies himself as Vergil materializes before him, the blue-clad swordsman's piercing gaze meeting Sam's.

Vergil grips the Yamato, the legendary katana, with unwavering focus. His movements are fluid, each strike calculated and precise, mirroring Dante's own fighting style. Sam switches between Dante's combat arts, matching Vergil's speed and technique.

The sound of steel clashing against steel echoes through the Temen-ni-gru as they exchange blows. Sam utilizes Dante's entire arsenal, from the raw power of Rebellion to the rapid-fire barrage of Ebony and Ivory. He seamlessly transitions between styles, pushing himself to the limit to keep pace with Vergil's relentless assault.

Vergil's summoned swords whirl around him, adding an extra layer of complexity to the battle. Sam anticipates the attacks, deflecting and countering with a flurry of his own strikes.

Vergil serves as the motivation for players to improve, representing the ultimate test of skill. As Dante's rival, he is nearly an equal to the player, with a slight edge over them.

Sam activated his Devil Trigger form, and Vergil did the same. Demonic energy crackled around them as they faced off, their eyes burning with intensity.

Vergil's movements became a blur, his Yamato slicing through the air with blinding speed. Sam countered with Rebellion, the clash of their blades sending shockwaves through the chamber. They traded strikes, each one more powerful than the last, their supernatural abilities on full display.

Sam dodged Vergil's Judgment Cut, the spectral blades slicing the air where he once stood. Retaliating, he unleashed a flurry of attacks, his sword a deadly dance of precision and power. Vergil parried each strike, his focus unwavering.

The two separated, circling each other like predators. Vergil summoned a barrage of spectral swords, launching them at Sam. With lightning reflexes, Sam deflected the blades, his own Devil Trigger enhancing his movements.

Closing the distance, Sam and Vergil engaged in a brutal melee, their blows shaking the very foundations of the Temen-ni-gru. Sparks flew as steel met steel, and the air crackled with demonic energy.

Sam and Vergil thrust their swords at each other, clashing with intensity. After a brief moment, Vergil knelt down in defeat, leaving Sam as the victor. Sam felt a sense of pride in Vergil's performance and eagerly anticipated the time when the Hunters would face him in battle.

As Sam exited the simulation, Sam's mind was already racing with thoughts of the upcoming World Developer Expo. He was confident that the Devil May Cry experience he had crafted would captivate the Hunters and secure his place as a top developer. The challenge now was to ensure that every aspect of the simulation was polished and ready to impress.
