NOVEL NEXT Chapter 36: Preparations
Three days later
Alfred observed as the SMB placed their fortifications around the hotel.Black buildings had started sprouting from the ground.A massive base and complex was being built.It was like watching ants build an anthill and it was oddly satisfying in a way.
Two more task forces had arrived to help out along with a lot of non combat personnel who Alfred theorised was here for research,management and other reasons.There were even a few simple robots and AI surveillance systems although the simple robots were simply used for manual labour which the humans couldn't be bothered to do.
Alfred was currently listening to the conversation of all five squadron leaders in the base.As well as an individual who Alfred had come to know from his eavesdropping was known as General Mantis who was a general class operative.Alfred learned that this was one stage higher then squadron leader class.
Alfred had yet to understand the power of the SMB but he now understood that it was vast.The floor and ceiling requirement for every class of operative only grew more vast with each level.Alfred couldn't even imagine how strong General Mantis could be.
This only reminded him how weak he was.He didn't even know how powerful the sorcerers were if even the SMB couldn't take them down.

"Other dungeons have been appearing around the world.We have managed to take control of a few of them but the sorcerers are remaining steadfast in maintaining control of the ones they have.There are also a few rogue dungeons which are under nobody's control for different reasons.They pose a substantial threat to the security and secrecy of our world.I'll be sending information on those rogue dungeons to you so you can recognise them if you find them.For now focus on protecting and researching that particular dungeon.I understand that your almost ready to venture into the dungeon and that the town is under control.I expect a report by the end of the week.General Mantis out." The holographic image of General Mantis dissappeared as the five squadron leaders finished their salutes.
"I'm eager to see what is so special about this dungeon that five task forces are required to protect it and delve into it." One of the new squadron leader class operatives by the name of Vergil 9# wagerly said.
Vergil 9# was in charge of the 'Hellish Speedsters' task force whose specialty was fast vehicles,patrols and on-road and off-road chases.The members all had exceptional speed and reflexes as well as knowledge of how to handle and mend their vehicles.
"It's not just you even the researchers are eager to get their hands on some of the drops and see what they can do.Speaking of they want to research that scepter you have in your belt Gary 12#." Another squadron leader class operative by the name of Sarah 15# spoke up.
Sarah 15# was in charge of the 'Employment Seekers' task force whose specialty was recruitment and monitoring the genetics of countless human towns and cities.They would select human babies with excellent genetics from hospitals and replace them with clones.They would then genetically modify the taken babies to become operatives of the SMB and distribute them throughout the organisation.This process was continuously being improved on and was how a lot of squadron leaders and generals/admirals/aviator generals/space admirals had been recruited into the SMB.
Sarah's task force had already selected numerous candidates and genetically modified them to join the SMB.There had even been a candidate with the genetic potential to become a squadron leader which was a welcome find in this town.Naturally since the entire town was now in support of the SMB they were happy to donate their children to the organisation.
A siren sounded and the five squadron leaders realised that something was wrong.They rushed out the complex and out into the open only to see that they were being attacked.Judging by the type of attacks being dished out they were being attacked by sorcerers.
