Chapter 590: Chapter 165: Really became a hot cake_2
“Wait, don’t rush in.”
Link felt a familiar presence and immediately held Jasmine back.
“What’s wrong?”
Even though she sensed something strange about the energy, Jasmine didn’t take it too seriously.
This was the main campus. If there could be danger here, how could Ravensmouth College be the top force in the Mitchell District?
“Just wait.”
Link did not directly tell Jasmine the reason, even though he could use “telepathy technique”, or convey his thoughts by utilizing the power of the “God Devouring Worm”.
Because after he opened his mouth and held Jasmine back, the other person inside the laboratory, who was with Sage Selene, had already locked onto Link.
If Link dared utter a word that would tarnish his image, he would take action and “punish” him.
Seeing this, Jasmine stopped asking and halted too.
“Come in.”
Sage Selene called out at this point, clearly not pleased with the actions of the man sitting opposite her.
“Sigh!”
Link sighed, holding Jasmine’s hand as they entered the laboratory.
They did not go to any lab but directly headed to the top floor, to Sage Selene’s office.
As expected, the man sitting opposite Sage Selene was Sage Palo, who they had not seen for two months.
“Does playing hard to get really work, when you are chasing after the love of your life?”
Though inwardly making sarcastic remarks, outwardly, Link and Jasmine together greeted the two Sages.
“Sit, sit next to me.”
Sage Selene took on the role of the host, indicating the empty spots on either side of her.
Link and Jasmine shared a look, then seamlessly sat on the left and right of Sage Selene.
“Alright, now that the involved parties have arrived, you can continue.”
Sage Selene was pleased with Link and Jasmine’s actions. She had a smile on her face, but her tone was stark while speaking toward Sage Palo.
She wasn’t acting like she was facing her longtime love interest, but as if dealing with an ordinary collaborator.
A brief bitterness flashed in Sage Palo’s eyes, but he remained helpless.
He took advantage of his return to the main campus to look for Selene, hoping for a good conversation.
To mend the relations between the two of them.
He didn’t want their relationship to become stiff.
However, Sage Selene first denied him the opportunity to discuss any other topic, sticking to the excuse Sage Palo casually used – commissioning the Sage Selene Potion Research Group to optimize the “Empowerment” Potion Project, busily discussing the terms of the project partnership.
And then she forcefully inserted Link and Jasmine into the situation, leaving Palo with no chance to be alone with her.
In other words, Sage Palo was rebuffed.
Sage Selene refused to easily open her heart to him again!
Unable to do anything else, Palo gave a rueful smile, shook his head, and began to walk out.
If she didn’t want to talk this time, then he’d find another opportunity next time.
A flash of astonishment crossed Link’s face.
This man is really too straightforward!
Doesn’t he know how to be persistent?
Selene found herself somewhat disappointed.
He gave up after encountering a small setback. What about her?
The setbacks she’s encountered are far more than just a little!
Even if not ten thousand times, but over the course of decades, they must add up to hundreds or thousands of times.
“What should we do?”
Jasmine, being the one who understood Selene’s feelings best, couldn’t help but voice her thoughts to Link, paying no mind to the fact that the two Sages might sense it.
The method of the “God Devouring Worm” transferring thoughts and the derivative contract between Link and Franda were completely different.
This method still required the use of spiritual power.
So, as soon as Jasmine passed on her thoughts, both Sages caught her spiritual power fluctuation and instinctively deciphered it.
It was as if Jasmine was discoursing a conspiracy with Link in front of the two Sages.
Link thought for a moment and decided to use this to his advantage.
So, he responded in confusion: “What do you mean? If Sage Palo wants to leave, let him. Selene didn’t try to stop him. Why are we being anxious here?”
Jasmine eagerly said, “But Selene expects Palo to stay and try harder!”
Link: “I don’t understand these things, and I would suggest you not guess, what if you are wrong?”
Jasmine: “How can it be a guess? All of Selene’s harsh actions are to make Palo understand the pain of unrequited love, the bitterness of not getting a response. She doesn’t really want to give up on Palo. Why can’t Palo persevere?.”
Link: “Uh…”
“Enough, you two!”
Sage Selene’s face was icy cold, she directly issued a dismissal order, “Get out! Stop talking nonsense and stop spreading rumors!”
She was so angry that she was a little inaccurate with her words.
Link and Jasmine quickly got up and slipped out of the office, one from the left and one from the right of Sage Palo.
Outside the door, the two shared a look and laughed in perfect understanding.
Inside the office.
Sage Palo stiffened for a moment, then slowly turned around to look at Sage Selene with a complex expression on his face.
He did not speak for a long while.
Sage Selene did not avoid his gaze. In fact, she met Palo’s eyes openly.
Even if her thoughts were revealed entirely by Link and Jasmine, so what?
It did not interfere with her plan to wear down or test Palo.
“Sigh!”
After a long time, Sage Palo let out a heavy sigh, shuffled his steps, and sat down opposite Selene again.
Opening and closing his mouth several times, Palo hesitated to say, “Selene, it’s not that I didn’t want to…”
“What you wanted then does not concern me!”
Selene cut him off before he finished his sentence, “And whatever you want now, has even less to do with me!”
