Chapter 6 - The Criminal Returns to the Scene (2)
The Criminal Returns to the Scene (2)
“Ah, took me a while to find it.”
I thought I’d arrive quickly by retracing my steps in reverse, but the back alleys of the Duke’s territory were only alleys in name – they were actually larger than an average village, which caused me to get lost.
Only after running around those back alleys for 30 minutes was I able to reach the slave market I had destroyed earlier.
‘It was good to come where there are many people.’
Perhaps because the location was in a shady area and the security forces received the report late, even though almost half a day had passed, the guards were still busy moving around and cordoning off the scene.
“This might turn out much better than expected.”
Though it wasn’t intentional, thanks to those guards, I might be able to catch something today.
From here on, I remembered clearly, so I didn’t wander anymore.
After confirming the path to Serpe’s base, I deliberately chose to walk the adjacent path instead of taking the morning route.
Walking an unnecessary path while mapping the back alleys in my head by combining morning and current memories, I stopped breathing and lowered my body at the alley connecting to the path I had taken before.
After killing my presence as much as possible, I peeked out with just my head and saw the scene where I had fought with the kidnappers in the morning.
‘As expected.’
Unlike when I had just left after the fight, the blood that had been spilled at the scene was almost completely cleaned up.
