chapter 23
23 – Episode 23
After the hug, an awkward atmosphere fills the room.
In the meantime, I have nothing to say, so I look around.
A small desk at the end of the room, a cabinet full of bottles of liquids and pills.
And the long stretched bed and neatly arranged blankets and pillows on it.
It looked like an infirmary, but there was no one but me and Misty.
I have a lot of questions, so I’ll ask a question first.
What are you doing to pass the time just looking around?
The first thing I ask is why Misty is nursing next to me.
“Uh, um. I heard there was a commotion in the next classroom, so I went to look around and found you collapsed.
That’s why I waited by your side until you woke up.”
At that point, I secondly asked if it was you, Misty, who healed me.
She gently scratches her cheek with her index finger and shakes her head.
“I’m just a wizard, a pure wizard who hasn’t learned any healing arts.”
“Who treated you like that?”
“That person in the hallway is very shy.”
When I turned my head to look at the hallway, I saw a blonde, white-eyed human with his back against the wall, cross-legged, and arms crossed.
And I’m biting my nails in an appropriate way as to what I don’t like so much.
“When you wake up, please say thank you.
I’m going to be serious, so don’t go and talk to me, he’s a sensitive person.
I told you that I was forced to treat you because I had an ejaculation?”
Misty says that and she smiles wide.
“Hey, Eric, next time something painful happens, don’t just groan inwardly, and that’s it…”
Misty tries to tell her story but blurs her words.
It must be because I just ignored it the other day and left.
“Hmm…Try to tell someone else you can trust other than me.
How can a person endure? Saying something doesn’t solve anything, but the inside is incredibly refreshing!”
To tell someone you can trust what’s on your mind.
There’s no one you can trust.
Nobody.
“I’m going to go now. I’m lying down and resting because my head might still be a little dizzy!”
Misty just comforts me.
She didn’t say what spirit she was in such a bullsh*t.
Just like trying to reassure you by smiling next to you.
We only talked a little bit, but is there any reason to go this far with me?
Maybe he has it.
I don’t think so.
You might think we’re friendly.
I don’t think so.
Maybe it’s just sympathy that a good-hearted person spreads out from time to time.
I can appreciate that, though.
What will happen now?
I don’t know either.
There were many times when I felt good as if I had bipolar disorder, but then I became depressed and couldn’t control my emotions.
I didn’t expect that I would be like this.
At least when I was alone, I thought that maybe I would hang myself.
Rather than hitting someone.
Misty is talking to a blonde man in the hallway.
The two seem to be arguing a bit, but when Misty says something, the man sighs and nods his head.
Then I started to walk out of sight.
Ttogak. Again.
Someone must have walked here, perhaps Misty told me that I had woken up.
It was a human wearing shiny shoes, a lighted suit, and nose glasses.
“Eric Breslau, is that right?”
“Yes.”
When I answered, he lifted the nose glasses on the bridge of his nose once and made them fit properly, then made an unpleasant smirk.
“It seems that His Excellency, the Duke of Breslau, cares for you quite a bit, since this is enough without punishment.
Maybe he cares about your mother.”
The duke cares for me.
Hey, maybe I’ll save it because I’ve taken on almost all of my wife’s hysterics over the past few years.
For the purpose of warding off evil.
This man, too, Shinji Lee, an aristocrat who hates illegitimate children, secretly mentions my mother and insults me.
But there is nothing I can say.
There is nothing I can do.
“The trivial incident that happened this time was the result of amicable mediation between His Excellency the Duke of Breslau and the Duke of Prugemertum, and this happened after all the students of the Trisium except you took the retest tomorrow, and Miguel Prugemertum on the 7th, Eric Bresla. Crying will be roughly resolved by being put on probation on the 21st.”
Saying that, the man handed me a piece of paper and a pen.
“Please sign appropriately.
As the two dukes wish, it seems that the impossible will come true.”
I receive the document and read where it is written in large letters.
‘Blood/Aggressor student admits to having caused an unsavory incident at the Imperial Academy.
Victim Miguel Frugemutum was assaulted by the assailant Eric Breslau, but he was ordered to probation for 7 days considering his usual bad behavior, bullying the assailant, distracting the classroom atmosphere, and kicking the assailant first. Box.
The perpetrator, Eric Breslau, caused an unacceptable level of violence at the Imperial Academy, so the punishment was expulsion, but the two pillars supporting the empire oppose the punishment, and the victim also repents for his mistakes and accepts the punishment. I don’t want it, so I ordered 21 days probation.’
At the bottom, several clauses were written tightly.
And before I wrote my name, I laughed at the phrase written in thick letters at the bottom.
[Through the punishment above, we must all make a firm determination to stay faithful to the emperor, overcome momentary mistakes, and not forget our diligent heart. Ah! There is no end to the grace of His Majesty the Emperor, who waits for this!]
I handed the document back to the man after I signed my name at the bottom right corner.
“Go back to your room and don’t come out.
It’s a formal punishment, Miguel Prugemutum will run around and play, but it’s not a formal punishment for you.”
He ran his fingers through the papers, then looked at the signature and smiled.
Then, as he was about to leave the room, he turned around and informed me of an important fact.
“Ah, for the exam you didn’t take this time, the teacher in charge will go to the room in person and hand out the exam papers after three days and supervise it.
You don’t have to worry too much if you just studied.
Don’t forget the grace of the Duke, and I hope you won’t have a big accident in the future.”
The man accepts it, nods his head once, and leaves the room.
There is no one around.
Did I tell you to go to your room like this?
When he gets up, his head is dizzy just like Misty said.
Still, I lean against the wall and walk to my room.
If it’s fortunate that there aren’t any kids running around because it’s class time, it’s a relief.
I entered the room, threw myself on the bed, and with trembling hands took out the crushed cigarette pack from my bosom and put the tobacco in my mouth.
He then reached into the drawer, lit a match, and started lighting a cigarette.
“Huh, damn it.”
Okay, let’s take care of Abby and do something comfortable in the world.
I don’t starve, I get a good education, and I’m in good shape.
On top of that, he loves me so much that even though I hit someone to death, he only gives me a light punishment.
It’s clear the world loves me.
You can’t even give me an excuse if you do this.
You can’t even run away with melancholy while self-torturing me.
I reach into the drawer and pick up the blade the Duchess gave me.
I slit her left arm slightly.
Should I die?
…
…
…
Eric was put on probation for hitting a classmate.
I couldn’t imagine that Eric, who only grumbled when his mother beat him and laughed when the maids teased him, would hit people.
“Hey, Xenia, did you hear that?
A friend who listens to Trisium told me about it, but I heard that Xenia’s sister, who was put on probation this time, actually beat her opponent to the point of death, contrary to what is known.”
“That’s right, if the healers weren’t taking classes around them, they’d surely be gone.
You said you hit her on the head with a chair?”
“Frugamertum, I think it’s too harsh to beat people like that, even if you’re a bloated, unlikable human like that pig.”
My friends who used to hang out with the children who followed me start telling me horrific examples one by one of how Eric hit the pig that touched my hand.
Stories of biting opponents, beating them until their faces sunk in, not forgiving them even when they cried and begged them, and beat them to death.
But fortunately, I guess I just hit him and didn’t get hit.
Not a single word came out that Eric was hurt.
These days… We didn’t go out together.
After that day, I felt like Eric was also avoiding me, so to be honest, I think I was a bit embarrassed.
There were times when I deliberately ignored the greetings people would say when I ran into them on the way.
Something seems to have piled up, so I tried to talk to Eric from afar when he was eating alone, but the kids around me noticed it so I didn’t call.
I felt like I hated Eric in a strange way, and I could feel that the atmosphere was getting colder.
Compared to when I was younger, I’ve grown enormously, but I didn’t know how to use magic and didn’t learn how to fight, so I didn’t think this would happen.
I said I was put on probation, but I couldn’t participate in class and couldn’t leave the room. It didn’t mean I couldn’t go in!
As expected, I must be a genius.
I canceled my appointment to go out for tea with my friends after class and went to Eric’s room.
I found out where the room was by asking Eric’s classmate.
Did you say you could go to the 16th floor?
I forgot which room I was in, so I wandered from left to right until I found a room with Eric’s name tag on it.
And knock.
There was a crackling sound as if glass were falling.
“Eric?”
With no answer, I open the door.
Because it wasn’t even locked.
It was dark in the room, and the unpleasant smell of tobacco that my father used to smoke in the room came up.
It seemed like it was a kind of new leaf or something, and it smelled like a rare grilled steak.
