Chapter 127: Start the Treasure Hunt
Xuantan Beast Forest, home to the Abyssal Beasts.
As soon as Sally arrived at the edge of the Beast Forest, she smelled the scent of the Abyssal Beasts. After all, in order to avenge Zi Qi, she had killed many of these creatures; now she had a small mountain of Curse Stones in the System Space.
"Right, how many of these Abyssal Beasts do we have to kill again?" Sally asked Yu Yan.
Yu Yan replied, "Ten thousand Curse Stones. But not every Abyssal Beast carries a Curse Stone, so the actual number we need to kill will definitely exceed ten thousand. If we're unlucky, we might not even get ten thousand Curse Stones after killing a hundred thousand beasts."
"I just happen to have enough," thought Sally. "If we want to earn as much as possible, it's best to give up on hunting Abyssal Beasts for now and concentrate on completing other tasks first."
Yin Zang was astonished, "How do you have so many Curse Stones?"
"By killing them. There were many Abyssal Beasts beneath Katro City; I cleaned them out and even filled up the pit. If it weren't for my lack of skill in spatial arcane arts, I would have sealed up the fissure too."
"Someone has mended it."
"Hmm, someone on the mainland is always in charge of that."
"If we're not going after Abyssal Beasts for now, then we don't need to hunt Demon Beasts either, as I have enough Crystal Cores," Yu Yan looked at the mission list. "We can go gather Purple Thunder Wood, Dragon Claw Vine, and Flesh Bloom, which are all found in Xuantan Beast Forest."
"Alright, let's complete the second stage tasks first and worry about points later," Sally suggested, opening the System Map and searching for the targets according to the shapes drawn on the information she had.
However, just as she opened it, she unexpectedly discovered a group of people heading in their direction.
One female and three males, all on high alert for their surroundings.
"You guys look at the map," Sally told Yu Yan and Yin Zang to open their maps as well.
The System Map was only accessible when they were with Sally. After she left, it couldn't be used, and over time, both Yin Zang and Yu Yan had forgotten about such a handy tool.
The three of them immediately spread out a bit and opened the System Map.
Yin Zang and Yu Yan exchanged glances and saw the murderous intent in each other's eyes.
Noticing their reaction, Sally quickly intervened, "No, only squads with a red tag can steal points. These people look like they just arrived on the mainland; we should wait a bit."
"Should we greet them? Maybe we can glean some other information," Yu Yan suggested.
At times like these, Sally would be reminded of Zi Qi. "Or maybe we should just avoid them, I'm a bit socially anxious."
"Socially anxious?" Yu Yan asked, puzzled.
Sally explained, "It means I don't really like or am not good at dealing with strangers."
Yu Yan looked at Yin Zang.
Yin Zang could fight, but if you asked him to talk, he could freeze a room solid as ice.
Yu Yan sighed. He didn't really mind, but considering these two, "How about we just leave? They seem pretty guarded as well."
"Yep!" Sally gestured a scissors sign to Yin Zang.
Yin Zang grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, clearly content with the plan.
Yu Yan: "..."
After avoiding the squad, Sally, Yu Yan, and Yin Zang arrived at a lush patch of underbrush.
"According to the System Map, there is something with spiritual essence here." She had pleaded and nagged Xiaomei to upgrade the map so it could discern natural treasures; otherwise, she might starve to death during pregnancy.
In the end, Xiaomei gave in to her persistent haggling and deducted a thousand points to upgrade the System Map.
It could now identify not only natural treasures but also malicious intents. If someone in her map range harbored ill intentions towards her, she could easily detect them.
If it was a natural treasure, it would emit a golden light spot on the map, and there happened to be golden light spots in this area of underbrush.
Yu Yan parted the underbrush, looking closely.
Suddenly, he exclaimed with joy, "Sister Sally, we got it, it's Jade Zizhu Leaves! A whole clump of them! We can keep quite a bit for ourselves after handing in what's needed for the mission."
Sally glanced at it, and it sort of looked like spider plant, about palm-size. She took out a wooden box and handed it to Yu Yan, "Put them in here."
"Sister Sally, these need to be stored in a jade box, not an ordinary wooden box."
"Since when have I become so delicate, it's not even enough to whet my appetite."
Sally, despite being pregnant, had eaten her fill of heavenly and earthly treasures, so she didn't have much desire for these things.
"Sister Sally, you jest. Just one of these leaves is enough to concoct a furnace of Jade Zizhu Pills; consuming them can preserve youth and prevent aging."
"Really?"
"Of course it's true, but the materials needed to accompany it aren't that easy to find."
"Oh. Then give me one, I want to try the taste." Sally smacked her lips; the thought of maintaining youth was appealing. Even though she was still young, it was always good to be prepared.
Yu Yan suddenly understood why Zi Qi always compromised and changed his decisions when facing her, time and again.
It was simply because she unwittingly exuded a charm that made others want to go to great lengths for her.
"Then take just one... If it doesn't agree with you, spit it out."
"Okay." Sally took one.
She then ate a leaf... It was sour and tangy, somewhat like a sour date.
Soon, she had eaten the entire thing.
No adverse reactions.
Her body had grown resistant from consuming heavenly and earthly treasures, and ordinary items really couldn't affect her much.
"The taste is average, not very delicious. You can keep the rest."
"..." Yu Yan was at a loss for words. But then he remembered how, when she was pregnant with Xiaoqi, she nearly depleted His Majesty's private stores, and he relaxed.
"Let's go; let's keep looking for other things." Sally continued to look at the map.
Yu Yan took out a green jade box from his storage bag and carefully opened it.
Yin Zang was about to follow Sally when he noticed the green jade box Yu Yan had opened.
Inside was a piece of Jade Cicada Silk Satin, worth its weight in gold.
And on top of the Jade Cicada Silk Satin lay an egg the size of a fist, its shell emblazoned with purple patterns.
"What kind of egg is that?" Yin Zang felt that the egg was extraordinary.
Yu Yan replied: "I'm not sure myself; it was in here when I obtained this green jade box. You can tell it's a live egg, but I have no idea when it will hatch."
Sally called from up ahead: "Here—Yu Yan, come and take a look."
Hurriedly, Yu Yan put the Jade Zizhu leaf back into the green jade box and packed it away, "Let's go, this little ancestor needs to be well protected."
"Indeed." Yin Zang immediately went over too, putting the matter of the green jade box aside.
Who doesn't have one or two mysterious treasures?
He was, after all, the Beast Emperor of the Northern Region. There had to be treasures in his arsenal... well, there should be a few, anyway.
...
Pointing to a pit of clear water on the ground, Sally asked Yu Yan and Yin Zang, "The map shows that this water is emitting a very bright golden light. What is it?"
Yin Zang didn't understand, "Isn't this just water?"
"Wait, could this be Earth Spirit Liquid!" Yu Yan exclaimed, almost biting his tongue in surprise.
"It doesn't seem to be one of our mission targets," Sally said to Yu Yan.
"Of course not; this is a treasure only found in legends, something you stumble upon but can never seek. The people of the Holy War wouldn't list it; that would just be making things difficult for others."
Yu Yan meticulously collected the Earth Spirit Liquid into a jade bottle, not spilling a single drop.
Watching the jade bottle, Sally said, "Let me have a sip, will you?"
