Chapter 97: Chapter 97: The Mysterious Beast Skeleton
Chapter 97: The Mysterious Beast Skeleton
Hearing Zihuo's roar and understanding its meaning, Mo Yu was momentarily stunned. Zihuo, despite being a Three-Star magical beast and the offspring of the Purple Crystal Winged Lion King, only had intelligence slightly above that of One or Two-Star magical beasts. It still fell short compared to humans in terms of intellect.
If Mo Yu hadn't detected any secrets in this valley, how could Zihuo have discovered something? And as for the possibility of Zihuo betraying him, that was out of the question. The soul imprint was an extremely binding master-servant contract. In Mo Yu's previous life, this technique was a closely guarded secret of the top beast-controlling sect, and he had gone through tremendous effort and life-threatening dangers to learn it.
The soul imprint on Zihuo's beast soul could only be removed by Mo Yu himself. Even a Dou Zong (Battle Sect) level expert wouldn't be able to interfere. This was because Mo Yu's current power was too weak, and his soul strength was only equivalent to that of a Third-Tier Alchemist. In the future, when his soul power advanced to the sixth or seventh tier, not even a Dou Zun (Battle Venerate) or Dou Sheng (Battle Saint) would be able to erase the imprint. Forcibly trying to remove it would only result in the destruction of the beast's soul, causing irreparable harm.
With this in mind, Mo Yu's eyes brightened as he suddenly realized something. Since Zihuo couldn't deceive him, could the valley's secret be related to a magical beast?
The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. After all, this was the Magic Beast Mountain Range, a place filled with magical beasts. It wouldn't be surprising if Zihuo sensed something related to them.
"Mo Yu, what's up with Zihuo?"
Just as Mo Yu was about to head towards where Zihuo was, Little Doctor Fairy approached, having also heard the roar from the valley's depths. Her beautiful eyes were filled with curiosity as she looked in that direction.
Since they were in the same valley, Little Doctor Fairy had naturally seen Mo Yu's battle pet several times. She was quite impressed that Mo Yu, with his Dou Shi (Battle Master) strength, could control a Three-Star magical beast.
"It's nothing serious. It seems Zihuo has discovered something secret deep within the valley. That roar was to notify me to come and check it out," Mo Yu explained with a smile.
Hearing this, Little Doctor Fairy's eyes flashed with surprise, and she covered her mouth with a soft laugh. "Zihuo might not be a lion; it's more like a dog with a nose even keener than a dog's. Though I've spent some time in this valley, I haven't ventured into the deeper parts. Zihuo might have really found something."
Given what Little Doctor Fairy said, Mo Yu, who had already suspected something, nodded in agreement. He took her delicate hand and started heading toward the valley's interior.
Blushing slightly as Mo Yu held her hand, Little Doctor Fairy tried to pull away a couple of times, but when she realized that Mo Yu's grip only tightened, she gave up struggling, lowering her head in shy submission. She understood that Mo Yu was just being considerate, knowing that while her injuries had improved over the past few days, her physical strength was still weak.
Hand in hand, they arrived at the valley's depths, where they soon saw Zihuo digging furiously in a large pit.
"Roar!"
Seeing Mo Yu approaching, Zihuo let out a happy roar, then flapped its wings and quickly flew to Mo Yu's side, excitedly pointing at the pit with its claws.
"Oh? Is there really something hidden in there?"
Mo Yu exchanged a glance with Little Doctor Fairy. Though Zihuo couldn't speak, its meaning was clear to anyone.
"Let's go check it out," Mo Yu said, patting Zihuo's wings. He then lifted Little Doctor Fairy into his arms and, with a light leap, landed steadily on Zihuo's back.
Although the pit was still some distance away, Zihuo's quick flight brought them to the spot within a few seconds.
"What a huge pit..." Little Doctor Fairy gasped as Mo Yu set her down, marveling at the pit that spanned over ten meters in diameter.
From a distance, the pit hadn't seemed so large, but up close, the sheer size was overwhelming.
Mo Yu was equally intrigued as he examined the massive pit, which looked as if it had been formed by a meteor crashing to the ground, creating a deep depression over ten meters wide.
"Roar!"
As Mo Yu observed the pit, Zihuo let out a soft roar and moved to the right side of the pit. It began digging rapidly with its claws, and under the curious gazes of Mo Yu and Little Doctor Fairy, a large, white, jade-like bone began to emerge from the ground.
"What's this?"
Mo Yu's eyes lit up at the sight, and he quickly led Little Doctor Fairy over to the bone.
"What a huge bone... It doesn't look human. More like it's from a magical beast..." Little Doctor Fairy said in shock as she gently touched the enormous bone, which was as long as a human leg.
Mo Yu nodded in agreement. After closely examining the unusual bone, he looked past it towards the entire pit, his eyes glinting with realization. If his guess was correct, buried beneath the pit was an enormous magical beast!
The bone was as white as jade, and it seemed to contain some residual violent energy. From this, Mo Yu deduced that the magical beast had been incredibly powerful in life, likely at least a Six or even Seven-Star beast.
No wonder the energy in this valley was so abundant. The beast must have encountered a formidable enemy and been slain here, its massive body creating the pit upon impact. Over countless years, the flesh had rotted away, and the body had become buried, but the potent energy within the beast's remains continued to enrich the valley with pure energy.
Having uncovered the valley's secret, Mo Yu couldn't help but smile. He looked at the pit and said, "It seems the secret lies beneath. Let's dig!"
"Dig?" Little Doctor Fairy was startled by Mo Yu's suggestion. Glancing at the huge pit, she hesitated, "With a pit this big, how long will it take the two of us to dig it up?"
Mo Yu chuckled and shook his head. "Not the two of us—Zihuo will do the digging."
"Zihuo?" Little Doctor Fairy covered her mouth with a laugh. "It found the treasure, and now it's the one digging it up too. You're treating it so well."
"But maybe we can also get Little Lan to help," she added, pulling out her flute to summon her Blue Eagle.
Mo Yu had felt a little guilty for making Zihuo do all the work, but seeing Little Doctor Fairy pull her own pet into the task made him realize that she was even better at putting magical pets to work.
With Zihuo and Little Lan, two expert diggers, working hard, it only took two hours for the buried remains of the magical beast to be fully unearthed.
Mo Yu and Little Doctor Fairy closely watched as the beast's skeleton slowly emerged from the ground.
When they finally saw the entire skeleton, Little Doctor Fairy gasped in shock, covering her mouth, while Mo Yu's expression grew serious.
The beast's body was massive, stretching nearly nine meters in length, though it had been dead for a long time. The flesh was mostly decayed, leaving a skeleton that was already beginning to deteriorate. What stood out the most were the enormous wings, now just bone, and the large lion-like skull. On top of the skull were two spiral horns, which, though also decaying, still emitted a faint glow. The head and wings seemed to be made of a jade-like material, still glowing faintly, indicating that some strange energy remained within.
"This is... a Purple Crystal Winged Lion King with two horns?"
