Chapter 93: Chapter 93: The Fearsome Power of the Little Amethyst Winged Lion King
Chapter 93: The Fearsome Power of the Little Amethyst Winged Lion King
"Mo Yu!?"
As soon as the five mercenaries heard this name, their faces changed drastically, and they quickly drew their weapons. Mo Yu, the young man who had crippled the vice leader of the Wolfhead Mercenary Group and killed their second-in-command, had become a notorious figure in Qingshi Town, especially after provoking the wrath of a Dou Shi (Battle Master). Because of this, all mercenaries in Qingshi Town regarded him as extremely dangerous. The two young female mercenaries were so frightened that they could barely hold their weapons.
"Mr. Mo Yu, we have no quarrel with you. Why are you here?" the middle-aged man asked first.
Mo Yu raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly, "You setting up camp here has nothing to do with me, but it seems the person you were discussing just now is me."
Upon hearing this, the mercenaries exchanged awkward glances. They had been casually chatting and never expected that the subject of their conversation would suddenly appear before them. However, judging from Mo Yu's demeanor, he didn't seem as ruthless or malicious as the Wolfhead Mercenary Group had made him out to be.
"Haha, Mr. Mo Yu, we didn't mean to talk about you behind your back, and we sincerely apologize for it." The middle-aged mercenary quickly led the others in bowing to Mo Yu. They were well aware of Mo Yu's fearsome reputation, having killed Gan Mu, a Nine-Star Dou Zhe (Battle Practitioner), so they naturally treated him with great respect.
Seeing this, Mo Yu waved his hand dismissively. "Forget about it. I'm just here to learn about what's happening in Qingshi Town and to borrow a place to stay for the night. Is that alright?"
Hearing Mo Yu's request, the mercenaries exchanged looks and, after a brief silent conversation, the middle-aged man nodded. "Of course, it is. My name is Ka Gang, and we welcome you to stay with us, Mr. Mo Yu."
Ka Gang then turned to a young girl in the group. "Ling'er, please set up a tent for Mr. Mo Yu."
"Oh, okay..." The girl named Ling'er, who appeared to be quite young, quickly nodded and began setting up a tent. She glanced at Mo Yu with a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
Mo Yu sat by the fire, joining the mercenaries as Ka Gang introduced the others.
"How is Little Doctor?" Mo Yu immediately asked the question that had been troubling him the most. Before parting ways with Little Doctor, he had given her a communication token that could alert him in times of danger. However, when Mo Yu checked his storage ring earlier, the token was still intact. If that was the case, why hadn't Little Doctor reached out to him?
"Little Doctor?" The mercenaries fell silent at the mention of her name. Finally, the young girl, Ling'er, spoke up. "Little Doctor has been imprisoned at the Wolfhead Mercenary Group's headquarters for several days now. My father said they might publicly execute her in a few days to force you to come out."
"Who is your father?" Mo Yu asked.
"Oh, Ling'er's father is one of the higher-ups in the Blood Battle Mercenary Group. He knows quite a few people in the Wolfhead Mercenary Group," Ka Gang quickly explained.
"The Blood Battle Mercenary Group, huh..." Mo Yu murmured. Like the Wolfhead Mercenary Group, the Blood Battle Mercenary Group was one of the three major groups in Qingshi Town. Since Ling'er's father was a high-ranking member, her information was likely reliable.
Thinking of this, Mo Yu's eyes flashed with cold determination. Mo Yin and the Wolfhead Mercenary Group had crossed a line by using Little Doctor to threaten him. They would pay dearly for it.
"Are you going to save Little Doctor?" a woman in a green dress asked, gathering her courage to speak.
Standing up, Mo Yu looked at the woman with calm, dark eyes, but he didn't answer. Instead, he turned and walked towards his tent.
Seeing Mo Yu leave without a word, Ling'er and the woman in the green dress felt a sense of disappointment. They didn't know the exact relationship between Mo Yu and Little Doctor, but they had heard that she had refused to give up any information about him. For Mo Yu to remain indifferent to her plight seemed cold and selfish to them.
As they silently criticized him, Mo Yu, who had just reached his tent and was about to close the entrance, suddenly stopped. He turned to Ka Gang and said, "By the way, Uncle Ka Gang, could you lead me back to Qingshi Town tomorrow? If possible, take me straight to the Wolfhead Mercenary Group's headquarters."
With that, Mo Yu entered the tent and slowly zipped it closed.
"He's heading to the Wolfhead Mercenary Group's headquarters? But there's a Dou Shi there waiting for him!" Ling'er exclaimed in shock.
"I think Mr. Mo Yu is planning to save Little Doctor..." Ka Gang speculated, recalling the boy's calm demeanor.
The others were stunned. Saving Little Doctor from the clutches of a Dou Shi would be like snatching food from a tiger's mouth—certain death. Though they had earlier criticized Mo Yu for being selfish and cold-hearted, they hadn't thought him to be cowardly. After all, facing a Dou Shi was something few would dare to do.
After learning what he needed, Mo Yu went to sleep, unconcerned about Mo Yin or the Wolfhead Mercenary Group. With his current strength, he didn't see them as much of a threat. His powerful soul, nearly at the level of a fourth-tier alchemist, along with the Little Amethyst Winged Lion, would be more than enough to handle Mo Yin.
While the mercenaries took turns keeping watch, the night passed safely. As the sky began to lighten, Mo Yu emerged from his tent, feeling refreshed.
"Mr. Mo Yu, you're awake. We're almost ready to leave," Ka Gang said respectfully as he approached.
Mo Yu nodded, noticing that Ka Gang seemed hesitant. "What's on your mind?" he asked.
"Um, Mr. Mo Yu, the Wolfhead Mercenary Group is hunting you, and there's a Dou Shi at their headquarters. Isn't it too dangerous for you to go there?" Although Ka Gang didn't know Mo Yu well, he was still kind enough to offer a warning.
Mo Yu waved off his concerns with confidence. "Thank you for your concern, but I'm going to save Little Doctor and destroy the Wolfhead Mercenary Group. Not even a Dou Shi can stop me."
Seeing Mo Yu's determination, Ka Gang could only shake his head. He found it hard to believe the young man could pull off such a feat.
After a half-day's journey, the group finally arrived back at Qingshi Town. Seeing the bustling streets and hearing the lively chatter, Mo Yu couldn't help but smile. He then looked towards the southern part of town, where the Wolfhead Mercenary Group's headquarters were located.
"Thank you, Uncle Ka Gang, for guiding me here," Mo Yu said, handing a black pouch filled with several thousand gold coins to the middle-aged man. "Take this for your troubles."
"Mr. Mo Yu, this isn't necessary—" Ka Gang began to refuse, but Mo Yu simply tossed the pouch at him, waved, and headed straight towards the Wolfhead Mercenary Group's gates.
Watching Mo Yu walk away, Ka Gang and the others couldn't help but admire him. Whether Mo Yu was brave or foolish, his calm demeanor in the face of danger was something few could match.
"Let's go. We should head back too," Ka Gang said, turning to leave.
"Where to?" Ling'er asked, confused.
"We're going to inform our Blood Battle Mercenary Group leader. I have a feeling that Mr. Mo Yu... might just surprise us all," Ka Gang replied.
Meanwhile, as Mo Yu approached the gates of the Wolfhead Mercenary Group, the guards were about to shout at him to leave. However, when they recognized his face, they froze, and a wave of excitement surged through them.
"Mo Yu! It's Mo Yu!"
But before they could call out, a crimson lightning bolt streaked through the air, striking one of the guards. The guard, a Five-Star Dou Zhe, was instantly charred, his life snuffed out without a sound...
Inside the Wolfhead Mercenary Group's hall, Mu She, the leader of the group and a well-known expert in Qingshi Town, was bowing respectfully to a figure in a black robe, his posture as humble as that of a servant.
"What's going on? It's been so many days, and there's still no sign of that little bastard?" the black-robed figure, Mo Yin, hissed angrily. After failing to kill Mo Yu, Mo Yin had come to Qingshi Town to recover from his injury and use the mercenary group's manpower to find Mo Yu.
Mu She, who bore a grudge against Mo Yu for crippling his son and stealing his treasure, was more than willing to assist.
"Master, Mo Yu seems to have hidden deep in the Demonic Beast Mountain Range. The magical beasts there are strong, and my men are too afraid to venture far in," Mu She explained cautiously.
"Useless! You're all useless!" Mo Yin's voice was harsh and filled with venomous anger.
Narrowing his eyes, Mo Yin looked at his empty sleeve, recalling the mysterious technique Mo Yu had used on the cliff's edge. A chill ran through him, followed by a surge of murderous intent. "No matter what, you have three days to find Mo Yu, or there won't be a Wolfhead Mercenary Group anymore!"
Mu She's heart trembled at this, cold sweat dripping down his forehead. The Dou Shi's words made it clear—Mo Yin would wipe out the entire group if they failed.
Thinking quickly, Mu She suggested, "Master, perhaps we could use Little Doctor to lure Mo Yu out?"
"That woman? Didn't she refuse to speak?" Mo Yin asked, intrigued.
"She did, but if we publicly execute her, I doubt Mo Yu will remain in hiding!" Mu She said, his eyes flashing with malice. Although this plan would ruin the group's reputation in Qingshi Town, Mu She was willing to risk everything to kill Mo Yu and seize the treasures he had taken.
As Mu She plotted, a mercenary suddenly burst into the hall, shouting, "Leader! Mo Yu is attacking the gates!"
"What?" Mu She was stunned, unable to comprehend what he was hearing.
Mo Yin was equally taken aback, then quickly regained his composure. Grabbing the messenger by the collar, he demanded, "How many men did he bring?"
"He's alone!" the mercenary replied, his expression odd.
"Alone?" Mo Yin couldn't believe his ears. He had expected Mo Yu to bring the powerful Dou Shi from the Xiao family or even the terrifying Dou Wang (Battle King) who had once made Mo Yin shiver in fear. But to hear that Mo Yu had come alone left him dumbfounded.
"This little brat must be out of his mind! Does he really think he can defeat me on his own? Let's show him what a Dou Shi can do!" Mo Yin sneered, stepping out of the hall with a sinister grin. "Mu She, block all exits. I want him to see that there's no escape!"
"Yes, Master!" Mu She nodded quickly, barking orders at his men to seal the gates.
"Let's go. I want to see what gave this brat the guts to come here!" Mo Yin declared, leading the way to the front courtyard. Mu She and a group of mercenaries followed closely behind.
When they reached the courtyard, they saw a young man in a green robe standing calmly at the entrance. At his feet lay the charred bodies of more than a dozen Wolfhead mercenaries, and the once sturdy gate was now shattered into pieces.
"Mo Yin, long time no see." The young man lifted his head and looked at Mo Yin's empty sleeve. He smirked coldly.
"Today, you'll be leaving here for good, brat!"
Mo Yin's face twisted with hatred as he pointed at Mo Yu, stepping forward. His eyes were filled with murderous intent.
In response to this declaration of death, Mo Yu's lips curled into a mysterious smile.
"Mo Yin, old man, you're not my opponent today."
Mo Yin was taken aback and immediately scanned the area warily. Did the Xiao family really send someone? Damn it, I should have asked my family for help too, he thought. If only the Grand Elder could have come...
Seeing Mo Yin's cautious stance, Mo Yu's eyes showed a hint of disdain. He stroked the ring on his right hand, and with a thought, a massive beast appeared in the courtyard.
The moment the Little Amethyst Winged Lion King appeared, the once spacious courtyard became cramped. As the giant magical beast spread its purple wings and emitted a terrifying aura, everyone in the Wolfhead Mercenary Group, including Mo Yin, went pale as if a cold wave had washed over them.
"A Three-Star Magical Beast!"
