Chapter 13: Selling a Xuan-Class Dou Technique

Three days later, in the center of Wu Tan City.

The Mittel Auction House, the largest auction venue in Wu Tan City, is also part of the wealthiest family in the Jia Ma Empire—the Mittel family. In the empire, when it comes to wealth, the Mittel family is unrivaled.

The Mittel family has a long history, having developed within the Jia Ma Empire for hundreds of years, and their connections are vast and intricate. In the empire, the Mittel family, the Nalan family, and the Jia Lie family are known as the "Three Giants of Jia Ma." With such a powerful backing, no one dares to target the auction house, no matter how tempting its profits might be.

After breaking through to the ninth stage of Dou Zhi Li, Mo Yu secluded himself for a few more days. Then, he left the Xiao family estate and headed to the Mittel Auction House to attend the auction being held there.

Mo Yu had forgotten most of the details from the original novel, but he still remembered that Ya Fei was beautiful. While he wasn't particularly interested in beauty now, getting a glimpse of the woman who had enchanted so many men would be a nice reward after his arduous training.

As he approached the large auction house at the end of the street, Mo Yu turned into a secluded alley and quickly donned a black cloak that he had prepared earlier. The oversized cloak concealed his appearance and even made his slender frame look bulky. In this disguise, even if his grandfather, the steward Mo Guan, stood right in front of him, it would be difficult to recognize him at a glance.

Satisfied with his careful preparations, Mo Yu nodded to himself. He couldn't be too cautious, especially since he was planning to sell a Xuan-class low-tier Dou Technique at the auction to gather enough funds for some items he had his eye on.

The technique he was selling was a movement skill he had mastered in his previous life. It was of decent value, and he had spent the last three days transcribing it onto a scroll. He hadn't done this earlier because transcribing a Dou Technique onto a scroll was a task that consumed both Dou Qi and mental energy. Even with his near-Dou Zhe strength, it had taken him three days. A few months ago, it would have taken even longer.

As he touched the black scroll hidden in his cloak, Mo Yu knew he had to be discreet to avoid unnecessary trouble. After all, while the Lei Huo Zhu (Thunderfire Beads) weren't particularly valuable, a Xuan-class Dou Technique was a treasure in Wu Tan City. It might not mean much to him, but it was priceless to others here.

Once ready, Mo Yu slowly emerged from the alley and headed toward the auction house.

The interior of the Mittel Auction House was similar to the Grinn Weapons Auction House he had visited before. As he entered, the cool, refreshing air inside reminded him of an air-conditioned room. He scanned the grand, opulent hall before making his way toward a room labeled "Appraisal Room" in shining gold letters.

Upon entering the room, Mo Yu found it somewhat empty, with only a middle-aged man sitting idly by the table. Hearing the door open, the man looked up, his brow furrowing slightly at the sight of the cloaked figure, but he quickly plastered on a professional smile. "Sir, are you here to have something appraised?"

"Yes," came a dry, gravelly voice from under the cloak, sounding like that of an older man. Mo Yu was using a simple voice-altering technique, something he had seen many times in his past life. He had even encountered old men who could mimic the voices of young girls, so this level of skill was easy for him.

Stepping forward, Mo Yu reached into his cloak and pulled out the black scroll, placing it lightly on the table.

"What's this?" The middle-aged man blinked in confusion as he casually picked up the black scroll. He rubbed his hand over the rough material of the scroll, his expression darkening slightly as he looked at Mo Yu with a hint of disdain. "Are you here to sell a Dou Technique?"

Mo Yu had used an ordinary scroll for convenience when transcribing the technique, which seemed to have led the man to misunderstand. After all, the material of high-level Dou Techniques was usually of the highest quality.

"What kind of Dou Technique is this? What does it do?" The man asked indifferently, not even bothering to open the scroll.

"It's a Xuan-class low-tier Dou Technique called Nine Shadows of the Wandering Dragon. It can enhance a fighter's movement speed. I believe your Mittel Auction House, with its expertise, understands its value better than I do," Mo Yu replied calmly, unaffected by the man's attitude. He didn't particularly value this technique.

"A movement technique?" The man's expression changed immediately. He hadn't expected this seemingly ordinary scroll to contain a Xuan-class technique, let alone a rare movement technique.

While Xuan-class low-tier Dou Techniques were valuable, they weren't uncommon at the Mittel Auction House, so the man wasn't particularly impressed. But a Xuan-class movement technique was different. Movement techniques were rare, and those of the Xuan class were even rarer, often considered on par with some Xuan-class mid-tier techniques.

With renewed interest, the middle-aged man quickly unrolled the scroll. As a professional appraiser at the Mittel Auction House, he had a keen eye. After spending about half an hour examining the scroll, he confirmed that it was indeed a rare Xuan-class low-tier movement technique.

The man's demeanor became enthusiastic. "Sir, are you planning to auction this Dou Technique?"

"Yes, I heard there's an auction today. Arrange for it to be sold there," Mo Yu replied.

The man smiled, handing Mo Yu a black token. "You're well-informed, sir. That's no problem at all. Please take this token to Auction Room One. The auction is still ongoing, and your Dou Technique will be up for bidding soon."

Mo Yu accepted the token without a word and was about to leave the room when another figure, also draped in a black cloak, entered.

Mo Yu paused for a moment, then smirked knowingly before leaving. The other cloaked man also hesitated when he saw Mo Yu, feeling a strange sense of familiarity.

The middle-aged appraiser scratched his head in confusion. "Two mysterious clients in a row? Is today some kind of black cloak trend?" Shaking his head, he refocused on welcoming the new guest.
