Chapter 101: Chapter 101: The Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder
Chapter 101: The Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder
Mo Yu frowned as he felt the sudden change in one of the mysterious thunders within his body. It was the first time one had awakened without his command. Probing into the depths of his spiritual sea with his soul power, he entered the silent, eerie space where his terrifying thunders resided. Since Mo Yu had awakened the Vermilion Bird's Heaven-Splitting Thunder, there were only eleven thunders left from the original twelve, each renowned across the Shenxiao Continent.
As he inspected each of the remaining thunders, Mo Yu discovered that the one that had awakened was the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder, ranked eighth among the mysterious thunders of the Shenxiao Continent.
The Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder was a fearsome thunder with extremely toxic and yin properties. It was said that during ancient times on the Shenxiao Continent, a thunderbolt from the heavens absorbed the body of a powerful practitioner of extreme yin and poison, causing a transformation. This thunder became infused with terrifying poison, so potent that even a Dou Zun (Battle Sovereign) would struggle against it. It was one of the most feared thunders on the Shenxiao Continent.
In his previous life, Mo Yu had expended immense effort to subdue this thunder, nearly losing his life to its toxic properties. Fortunately, he had already mastered five other thunders and possessed the Tiangang Thunder Body, which allowed him to eventually conquer it.
Now, seeing the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder awaken on its own, and realizing that the source was Little Doctor Fairy, Mo Yu was taken aback. Then, a sudden flash of insight struck him, and he understood.
Could it be that the strong practitioner whose body the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder had absorbed in the void also possessed the Woeful Poison Body?
As he pondered this possibility, Mo Yu found it increasingly plausible. The Woeful Poison Body was an extreme yin and poison physique, and in the original story, Little Doctor Fairy's poison-based Dou Qi made her feared by many strong practitioners. If the practitioner devoured by the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder had possessed this same physique, it would explain the thunder's creation and its extreme toxicity.
Perhaps the thunder had consumed the body of someone with the Woeful Poison Body, and after centuries of absorbing that potent poison, it descended upon the Shenxiao Continent, becoming one of the most dreaded thunders.
Realizing this, Mo Yu's thoughts raced. Little Doctor Fairy's presence could be the perfect opportunity for the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder to grow. The poison explosions of the Woeful Poison Body were disastrous for others; in the original story, Little Doctor Fairy's first poison outbreak wiped out an entire village and killed the two elderly people who had raised her. This tragedy marked the beginning of her transformation into the cold and unfeeling Poison Empress.
And that was just the first explosion. As time passed, the poison would grow more destructive, capable of wiping out entire empires. But while the poison was deadly to all living beings, it could serve as a potent nourishment for the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder, which had been created from the Woeful Poison Body's essence.
The Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder had been born from absorbing the Woeful Poison Body, so the toxic energy released by such a body would be the ideal fuel for its growth. In fact, for the thunder to reach its peak, it might even need to absorb the entire essence of a fully matured Woeful Poison Body.
Of course, Mo Yu had no intention of sacrificing Little Doctor Fairy for power. Not only was she still too weak for her poison to significantly strengthen the thunder, but their growing friendship also made him unwilling to harm her. Besides, she wasn't the only one with this physique. Mo Yu remembered that Binghe, the leader of the Ice River Valley, one of the top forces in Zhongzhou, also had the Woeful Poison Body.
Like Mo Yu, Binghe's physique was acquired rather than innate, but it was still the Woeful Poison Body. Although it might be slightly less effective, it would still serve the same purpose. However, defeating someone as strong as Binghe, who was a Five-Star Dou Zun, would require Mo Yu to reach a similar level of power—something that was still far off, as he was currently only a Three-Star Dou Shi.
"Mo Yu, what's wrong?" Little Doctor Fairy asked, her voice filled with concern. She had been watching him silently for a while and was now biting her lip, worried that he might have changed his mind about what he had just said. After all, the Woeful Poison Body was terrifying, and few would willingly befriend someone with such a deadly curse.
Mo Yu snapped out of his thoughts and smiled at her. "I was just thinking about something. Don't worry, I meant what I said—we're friends, and I always keep my word."
Hearing this, Little Doctor Fairy breathed a sigh of relief and nodded, a gentle smile forming on her lips. "It's good to have you, Mo Yu. Even if something happens to me someday, knowing I had a friend like you will make it all worthwhile."
Listening to her talk so calmly about her own death, as if it were someone else's fate, Mo Yu couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy. How tragic must her life have been for her to feel so hopeless about her future?
But with the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder, perhaps he could help her avoid the tragic fate that awaited her in the original story.
"Little Doctor Fairy, I have something I want to give you," Mo Yu said, removing his hand from her hair and looking into her eyes with a smile.
"Oh? What is it? If it's something bad, I won't accept it," she replied playfully, her spirits lifted by his words.
Mo Yu chuckled. "If my presence here can keep you as happy as you are now, it's worth every bit of trouble I've gone through."
He didn't immediately answer her question. Instead, he focused his mind, and a moment later, a purple-gray thunder appeared in his hand. As it materialized, a wave of intensely poisonous energy filled the room, making the air heavy with a toxic aura.
Little Doctor Fairy's eyes widened as she gazed at the thunder. To her surprise, she felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity with it, as though it shared the same origin as her.
"This is the Xuan Yin Poison Demon Thunder," Mo Yu said, observing the similarities between Little Doctor Fairy and the thunder.
