Battle Through the Heavens: Harmony of Flame and Shadow

Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Entering Canaan Academy!

While cautiously observing Su Qian's expression, they spoke up.

"Haha!" Seeing the amusing sight of these two little fellows, Su Qian couldn't help but laugh heartily, and said, "This is the Magical Beast Forest, and there's no shortage of tier five and tier six magical beast kings. It's too dangerous for you two to be here. Why not come with me?"

Su Qian looked at Zi Yan and Jiang Yun with burning eyes and immediately said, "Regardless of whether you agree or not, I will take you both with me!"

Jiang Yun: "..."

Su Qian was quite domineering. Before Jiang Yun could speak, Zi Yan's eyes sparkled, and she was the first to respond, "Is there delicious food?"

"Of course, enough for you to eat to your heart's content!" Su Qian, stroking his long beard with a proud tone, said. He knew Zi Yan was a shape-shifting magical beast with a potentially huge appetite, but as the grand elder of Canaan Academy, Su Qian didn't find this to be an issue—he could afford her.

"Then I'll go!" Zi Yan, never having heard such pleasing words, agreed immediately with urgency.

Despite her carefree appearance, Zi Yan was quite perceptive. As a Void Ancient Dragon, she had a remarkable intuition that had saved her from life-and-death crises many times before.

She didn't sense any malice from Su Qian, which is why she agreed so readily. Otherwise, she would have already taken Jiang Yun and run away.

Jiang Yun, watching their conversation, had a strange look in his eyes. Could this person really be Grand Elder Su Qian?

"What about you?" With one settled, Su Qian turned his attention to Jiang Yun.

"Of course Xiao Yunzi will go with me!" Before Jiang Yun could reply, Zi Yan made the decision for him, grabbing him in her terrifyingly strong arms. Caught off guard, Jiang Yun found himself suddenly pulled into Zi Yan's embrace.

Six-year-old Jiang Yun was smaller than Zi Yan. From behind, it looked like a little brother being dominated by his sister.

"Alright then, it's decided. I am Su Qian, the grand elder of Canaan Academy. You will know what Canaan Academy is in due time. Let's go. I'll take you to the academy now," Su Qian said cheerfully, seeing Jiang Yun had no objections.

Jiang Yun: "..."

He hoped Grand Elder Su Qian would not regret taking in a glutton in the future.

Flying was the dream of many humans.

In his previous life, people could only rely on tools like airplanes to fly. But in the Battle Qi Continent, one could freely soar the skies after reaching the Dou Wang level.

For Jiang Yun, flying was not something that excited him much; he had even experienced space travel before. The emotions elicited by flying no longer stirred his heart as much.

Before entering Canaan Academy, Su Qian led Jiang Yun and Zi Yan past Peace Town.

This was the 'bridgehead' connecting Canaan Academy and the Black-Corner Region.

Unlike the killing and chaos in the Black-Corner Region, Peace Town was well-ordered. Killing and looting were forbidden, and reckless behavior was not tolerated.

All who entered had to leave their names and origins and consume special pills produced by Canaan Academy's law enforcement team.

These pills could sense murderous intent. If someone engaged in killing, the pills would alert with a red glow enveloping the perpetrator, who would then face severe punishment from Canaan Academy's law enforcement team.

Though the Black-Corner Region was full of ruthless individuals who scoffed at Canaan Academy's rules, the consequence of their disdain often resulted in their bodies being hung from the gnarled branches of the towns large trees at the town entrance, serving as a stern deterrent.

Consequently, Peace Town maintained good order, with fewer and fewer people daring to ignore its rules.

Without lingering in Peace Town, Su Qian took Jiang Yun and Zi Yan and headed swiftly toward the academy.

Even though Jiang Yun was a genius picked up by Su Qian, he still had to first attend the external court and pass selection before entering the inner court.

As for Zi Yan, Su Qian intended to take her directly to the inner court. A peak tier-four shape-shifting magical beast was not only top tier within the inner court but also strong enough to compete for the top five in the rankings.

However, Zi Yan did not want to be separated from Jiang Yun, so Su Qian could only hope that this wouldn't leave psychological scars on the geniuses of this year's external court.

After bypassing Peace Town and flying for another half hour, the extensive outline of a city gradually appeared before Jiang Yun's eyes.

"Jiang Yun, Zi Yan, that's Canaan City ahead. Isn't it magnificent?" Su Qian asked in a proud tone, as this was the place he had devoted his life to, his home.

"Pfft—not really," Zi Yan, still acting haughty, dismissed his words despite being inwardly impressed by the massive city. She wouldn't admit it.

"Hmm, it's nice," Jiang Yun responded hesitantly, out of respect for Su Qian. Given his experiences in the Spirit City, this 'massive' Canaan Academy didn't really faze him.

Su Qian: "???"

Seeing the indifference in these two little troublemakers, Su Qian felt frustrated. For the first time, he questioned whether he had made a rash decision. Were kids today so mentally tough? When he first saw Canaan Academy, he was awestruck for a long time. Did that mean he, Su Qian, lacked experience?

"Humph!"

Annoyed, Su Qian sped up their flight. He just wanted to distance himself from these two 'annoying' little brats as soon as possible.

As the grand elder, Su Qian naturally had privileges. He led Jiang Yun and Zi Yan straight to Deputy Dean Hu Qian's office.

"Creak—"

The door opening disturbed Hu Qian, who was engrossed in work.

Hu Qian looked up, surprised by who had entered, and stood up, saying, "What brings the grand elder here?"

Su Qian, hiding his frustration, responded with a laugh, "I brought two impressive little ones for you."

"Oh?" Hu Qian narrowed his eyes and carefully observed Jiang Yun and Zi Yan. After a while, he looked at Zi Yan in surprise.

"Humph!"

Zi Yan, feeling uneasy under the scrutiny of the white-bearded elder, instinctively grabbed Jiang Yun's hand. Had she not sensed malice or known she couldn't win a fight against him, she would have thrown a fit.

Nevertheless, she didn't show a pleasant expression.
