Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Ripples of Revolution
The fallout from John's digital bombshell was far-reaching and immediate, shaking the foundations of hero society to its core. Across Japan, riots filled the streets as citizens demanded accountability from the HPSC and corrupt heroes. News stations struggled to keep up with the wave of revelations, their reports feeding the public's growing fury.
Lady Nagant sat alone in her apartment, her head in her hands. The files she had received the night before had been like a floodlight shining on her darkest regrets. The names of the innocent people she had been forced to kill, the lies the HPSC had spun to frame others for their crimes—it was all there in black and white.
But the message accompanying the files had been what broke her.
"Go to the police and tell the truth. The world deserves to hear your story. You don't have to live like this anymore."
Lady Nagant closed her eyes and let out a shaky breath. She had spent so many years carrying out orders without question, believing it was for the greater good. But now, she saw the HPSC for what it truly was—a corrupt machine, crushing anyone who didn't fall in line.
With trembling hands, she picked up her phone and called the police.
Hours later, she sat in an interrogation room, confessing to every crime she had committed. The officers were stunned, not only by her words but by the evidence she handed over. Her testimony would be a critical piece in dismantling the HPSC.
As she was led away in cuffs, Lady Nagant smiled faintly to herself. For the first time in years, she felt free.
"Thank you," she whispered, though she didn't know who she was thanking.
In a dimly lit alley, Stain crouched over a pile of documents. His hands trembled, not with anger, but with a twisted sense of vindication. The files he had received were a treasure trove—a detailed list of the most corrupt heroes in the system.
"Stay out of the Todoroki family business," the note had read.
Stain sneered, his mind racing. Whoever this hacker was, they understood his mission. They shared his disdain for the false idols who dared to call themselves heroes.
"Finally," he growled, his bloodlust rising. "Someone sees the truth."
The next day, corrupt heroes across Japan found themselves under attack. Stain moved like a ghost, his blade striking down those who had abused their power for personal gain. But true to his word, he left Endeavor and the Todoroki family untouched.
Deep within the decaying walls of their hideout, Shigaraki stared at the files projected on the screen before him. His lips curled into a grin as he read through the HPSC's secrets. It was chaos, pure and simple—his favorite kind.
"Whoever did this is a genius," Shigaraki muttered. "The world's eating itself alive, and we didn't have to lift a finger."
Across the room, Dr. Garaki was frowning. The files included something far more concerning: information on All for One's dealings with the HPSC. The mysterious hacker had exposed not just the hero society but the criminal underworld as well.
Dr. Garaki adjusted his glasses and turned to his master. "This hacker… They've done more damage in one night than most heroes have in years."
All for One's expression was unreadable, but his voice was ice-cold. "Whoever they are, they've made themselves my enemy. Exposing my dealings was a mistake. But they're clever—too clever for their own good."
Shigaraki snickered, running his fingers through his hair. "You're scared of some kid with a computer?"
"Not scared," All for One replied, his tone calm but menacing. "But cautious. Intelligence like that is dangerous. If left unchecked, they could undermine everything we've built."
Dr. Garaki nodded. "We should prepare for the possibility that this hacker will target us directly. They've already proven they can strike without warning."
All for One smiled faintly, a cruel glint in his eye. "Let them come. They've declared war on the world, and war is my domain."
While the world descended into chaos, John slept soundly in his bed. The weight of his actions pressed on his mind, but he knew he had done the right thing. He had struck a blow against the corrupt systems that plagued hero society, and the ripples of his actions would be felt for years to come.
In the morning, he would wake to find the world changed—a world where heroes were forced to confront their flaws, villains found themselves empowered by the chaos, and the lines between right and wrong blurred ever further.
But for now, John was content to let the world burn, knowing he had lit the match.
