Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Vista, The Dual-Sword Style Isn’t For You
"Biography of Kisame? Maybe it suits me?!"
Namur's shark-like eyes sparkled with excitement as he clutched the comic.
If Lucas said it was a match, then it had to be destiny!
With great care, Namur inspected the cover.
The protagonist depicted resembled a human, but his shark-like face bore a striking resemblance to Namur himself. Behind the protagonist, a massive shark made entirely of water loomed—ferocious, cruel, and utterly terrifying!
Namur's excitement surged. "Lucas, this comic feels like it's made just for me! If I don't gain an ability from this one, I'll throw myself into the sea!"
Lucas chuckled. "Don't be so dramatic, Namur. You're not a Devil Fruit user. Jumping into the sea won't have the same effect."
The merman division commander laughed heartily, his enthusiasm unshaken. "You're right, but I still believe this comic is my calling!" With that, Namur dashed off to start reading, his fins quivering with anticipation.
Now, it was Vista's turn.
The commander of the Fifth Division stepped forward, a nervous smile on his face. "Lucas… what about me?"
Namur paused on his way out, looking back at the two. He was confident Lucas could solve Vista's problem as well.
Lucas studied Vista for a moment, his gaze falling on the dual swords hanging at Vista's waist. A thought crossed his mind.
"Vista, haven't you read the other dual-swordsman comics in the collection? I know Atmos gained an ability from Katen Kyōkotsu—didn't you try any others?"
Vista's face flushed red. "I… I've read every single dual-swordsman comic in the studio, Lucas. Still, nothing."
Lucas blinked, speechless for a moment.
This guy really had the worst luck imaginable.
He thought for a moment. Sure, he could draw another comic featuring a dual-swordsman protagonist, but what would be the point? Those stories, while powerful, were designed for lower-level fighters. For a squad captain like Vista, they'd likely feel underwhelming.
And then it hit him.
Why limit himself to dual swords?
"Vista," Lucas began, his tone sharp and serious. "Have you ever considered that maybe… the dual-sword style isn't for you?"
