Baby Princess’ Survival Diary

Chapter 9

 “Duwwe!” (Duke!)

Originally, it was nice to see the Duke, but I was more than happy to stop Driane’s nagging.

I also ran and stood in front of the Duke. Naturally, the Duke hugged me.

After suddenly hearing it, Driane jumped to the ground in surprise.

 “You’re late today.”

“I told ywou!” (I told you!)

 “Is that so?”

“Duwe! there’sh— shomethhing i wanth tho shay! (Duke! There’s— something I want to say!)

 “Do it.”

 “Ith’sh shecreth.” (It’s secret.)

At my words, the Duke looked at me curiously.

It was the first time I said anything and it was the first time I said it was a secret.

The Duke looked at me still and sent Jessie and Shane out.

 “You wnow.” (You know.”

 “Yeah.”

 “I— I made a conthracth withh a divine beashth!” (I— I made a contract with a divine beast!)

 ******

The Duke was silent for a moment.

I shrugged, thinking I could be a little confident.

However, as the Duke continued to respond, he was a little depressed again.

Then the Duke lifted me up and put me on the desk.

“So you made a contract with a divine beast.”

 “Yesh!” (Yes!)

 “…How’s your body?”

 “Yesh?” (Yes?)

“Like trembling. Or like vomited blood. Do you feel nauseous?”

 “I’m finhe!” (I’m fine!)

“I have to believe what my daughter says.”

 [It’s okay]

 “Driane!”

 “….”

“Duwe! It’s Driane!” (Duke! It’s Driane!)

[Drianera, the divine beast of the earth that resides in the fifth sword among the five holy things.]

 “…I’m Iville Biherville.”

[Don’t worry about Lione’s body. I’m trying my best to control myself]

 “That’s a relief.”

The Duke was not surprised and continued the conversation calmly even when the cat suddenly appeared.

The topic of the conversation was about my physical condition, and strangely, Driane also became serious and talked.

[So, the baby should not use divine power recklessly.]

 “Divine power?”

 “I didn’th ushe ith…” (I didn’t use it…)

The end of the story was me. The scolding has doubled.

I went back to my room and asked if it was useful.

On that day, I felt good when the Duke, who was glancing at me, stroked my head and called me daughter.

I didn’t hear the answer, but I felt better because I thought it was the answer.

 [This baby has no clue.]

Driane sighed and said, but I couldn’t understand what it meant.

 ******

The whole time I sat on the Duke’s lap, I looked at the black thing, but I kept my mouth shut and didn’t say that I would treat him.

[It’s a relief that this baby listens well]

“Becaushe driane ish thhe one who thawwsh—” (Because Driane is the one who talks—)

[There are many kids who don’t listen even if they nag]

 “Reawwy?” (Really?)

 [Of course.]

Driane climbed over my head and stroked my head with its front feet.

[If you train a little with me, you can take off what’s on the Duke’s head without difficulty, so wait for time to pass]

 “Awkay!” (Okay!)

As I nodded my head, Driane stroked my hair again, as if proud.

The Duke and everyone seemed to like stroking my hair.

 ******

The Duke warned me sternly since he knew I was still young and couldn’t walk around in public.

Don’t tell Jessie, of course, about Driane’s existence to anyone.

So I closed my mouth tightly.

“Nuna… why don’th you thaww tho Jeyion?” (Nuna… Why don’t you talk to Jerion?)

“Ith’sh noth wike that!” (It’s not like that!)

“Do you…hathe Jeyion?” (Do you hate Jerion?)

“Ith’sh noth wike that!” (It’s not like that!)

When I shook my head strongly and said, Jerion held my hand with a gloomy look.

“Buth why are you thawwing awone?” (But why are you talking alone?)

 “Thath.. Thath…” (That’s… That’s…)

 “….”

 “Doll…”

“There’sh no doww!” (There’s no doll!)

I should have carried the doll or something. Jerion wiped away the tears that were welling up as if sad.

I didn’t really ignore Jerion or anything.

Sometimes Driane asked me something, so I just went to the corner to answer and came back after a couple of times.

 But Jerion is angry.

 “Thath.. Thath…” (That’s… That’s…)

“Nuna hash a shecreth behind Jeyion!” (Nuna has a secret behind Jeyion!)

 “….”

There was nothing right to say. As I was silent, tears began to flow from Jerion’s eyes.

“Whath tho do!” (What to do!)

I hurriedly wiped away the tears with my sleeves, but Jerion burst into tears even louder, as if it were more sad.

“Nunya… Hathe Jeyion!” (Nuna… Hate Jerion!)

“No, ith’sh noth thrue.” (No, it’s not true.)

Jessie and Nancy, who stood at a distance when they heard Jerion’s cry, ran and comforted him, but Jerion seemed to have no sign of stopping crying.

 Eventually, the Duke came down.

 “So.”

 “….”

 “….”

“Do you mean you two had a fight?”

 “It’s not

“Ith’sh noth wike that—” (It’s not like that.)

 “That’s thrue—” (That’s true.)

They stared at each other and shook their heads as I denied it and Jerion confirmed it.

It didn’t make sense for Jerion and me to fight.

“We’re noth fighth—” (We’re not fight—)

“Buth nuna weepsh thawwing awone!” (But Nuna keeps talking alone!)

 “Thath.. Thath…” (That’s… That’s…)

I looked at the Duke and asked for help. However, the Duke looked strangely happy.

The Duke, holding me and Jerion in both arms, and headed to the Duke’s office.

Jerion grabbed the hem of my clothes and didn’t let go while looking elsewhere.

Even if the Duke stopped me, I thought I should tell Jerion about Driane’s existence.

I didn’t want to see Jerion cry anymore because of me.

 [Baby is so slow-witted—]

 Driane expressed its dissatisfaction.

 ******

The Duke showed Driane to Jerion.

When Jerion heard that I might get sick, he immediately removed his gaze from Driane.

“Nunya. Jeyion have shaw ith aww! now shthop! (Nunya. Jeyion have saw it all! Now stop!)

 It’s okay to watch more—.

I could feel the divine power draining away, but it was very little.

Actually, Driane said this is okay.

I was going to say that, but the Duke nodded.

At the same time, Driane hid.

When it was only visible to me, it was not difficult to distinguish because Driane’s body became transparent.

 I was a little flustered.

“I can howd ith thhish much.” (I can hold it this much.)

 “No!”

 “It’s enough.”

 [No way]

To three people—Driane is a divine beast, but I’m sorry if I’m describing it as a person, but I was frustrated because I was rejected.

I put strength on my cheeks without realizing it.

[Baby. Your cheeks are plump. Are you hungry?]

 “I’m noth—” (I’m not.)

“Nunya. Pway withh me.” (Nunya. Play with me.)

 “Yesh.” (Yes.)

As soon as I talked to Driane, Jerion came to me.

Reflectively nodded at Jerion. It’s been a long time since I lost strength.

“shall we go outh and pway hide and sheek?” (Shall we go out and play hide and seek?)

 “Yesh!” (Yes!)

 ******

 Knock, knock—.

 “Duke. This is Shane.”

 “Come in.”

Shane came into the office with a full book.

It was all about the divine beast.

“All the books you mentioned are here.”

 “Well done.”

“Thank you. I’ll give you a summary while looking for it.”

 Iville nodded.

Finding it must have been difficult, but seeing the summary, he thought it was a good idea to bring Shane once again.

“Driane, the divine beast that the Young Lady signed a contract with, is said to have the most gentle personality among the five divine beasts. The last contract was about 400 years ago.”

“Is there any divine beast who doesn’t have a gentle personality?”

“It is said that the Fire Divine Beast has some hostility towards humans.”

 “The Fire Divine Beast.”

“It is said to be an earring studded with red holy stones.”

“Throw away all the red earrings near Lione.”

 “Yes.”

“Make the mouths of everyone in the Duke family heavy so that the fact that Lione signed a contract with the divine beast doesn’t leak out.” (T/n : mouth heavy here means to keep the secret or shut their mouth.)

“Yes. I’ll keep that in mind.”

 “Well done. You can go.”

 “Thank you.”

Iville pushed it away and picked up the book.

After reading this book, he had to stay up all night to process the documents, but he didn’t mind.

 ******

After signing a contract with Driane, my daily routine changed a little.

Instead of waking up in the morning and training, I learned from Driane about the divine beast and how to use divine power.

[There are five divine beasts in total. There are four divine beasts in charge of light and one divine beast in charge of darkness. The divine beasts in charge of light are me, the earth, Ignia, the fire, Nadia, the tree, and Eloane, the water. Darkness is only Canoa.]

I didn’t know the text yet, so I wrote it down in a triangle square shape, and Driane continued to pick it up one by one with its hand.

[Ignia must be in the red earring that she saw in the house of those evil things. But— Ignia doesn’t like humans very much.]

“So it won’th shign a contracth?” (So it won’t sign a contract?)

[If the Daughter of the Evil One had noticed Ignia in it, she might have signed a contract but—. It seems not. I can’t feel Ignia’s power.]

 “I shee…” (I see…)

It was fortunate for me. It would be more helpful for the Duke to have one person who signed a contract with the divine beast rather than two.

[The divine power is the power of creation. Don’t try to deal with it, try to feel it.]

“Thath’sh… whath do you mean? (That’s… What do you mean?)

 [It means implementing, not controlling.]

 “…Ung.”

I didn’t quite understand. First of all, I didn’t know what control and implementation meant. I was afraid that Driane would be disappointed if I told Driane this.

[If you don’t understand, stop learning. Baby, let’s go to the Duke.]

 “…Ung.. I’m sowwy.” (Yes… I’m sorry…)

[No one knows everything from birth. Even me, there is no need to be sorry.]

 “But stiww…” (But still…)

Driane came up above my head and stroked my hair as I walked with my head down.

[I said it’s not embarrassing not to know something.]

 “Ung—” (Yes.)

When I was gloomy, Driane, who went to Duke together with me, reassured me that it was okay.

Thanks to this, I was able to avoid making an ugly appearance in front of the Duke.

[I think the baby needs a teacher]

“I think it’s still time to be busy just to play.”

[Shouldn’t you say something different for a child who has the will to learn?]

 “Uhm—”

The Duke’s expression became serious at what Driane said.

 “Do you want to study?”

 “Yesh.” (Yes.)

 “Why?”

“I wanth tho wnow thhe lettews—. And i wanth tho counth tho then.”  (I want to know the letters—. And I want to count to ten.)

The Duke quietly looked down at me and nodded his head.

“I’ll give you a reliable teacher.”

The next day, my teacher was decided.
