Chapter 89
Dad looked a bit confused by her words.
I leaned in close to whisper in his ear.
“Dad, there’s something I really want to do with the winter elves.”
“Something you want to do? Like a business?”
“Yes!”
“Hah. Weren’t you scared?”
“Scared? Of what? The kids were all really nice to me. So, you have to be nice to them too, okay? Promise!”
Now I just had to wait and see how grand His Highness the Prince’s version of ‘kindness’ would be.
Knowing him, it would be huge. Maybe even bigger than the promises I made.
“Cherry!”
“You little troublemaker chick!”
My brothers arrived, just a bit later than Dad. Their faces were filled with worry, and they were covered in the same black blood as Dad, not having had time to clean up.
“Who’s the jerk?! Who sent my sister flying off like that?! It’s a good thing Dew was with you!”
As Gergys appeared, Dew, the lion that had seemed so out of place in the snowy field, rose to his feet and padded over to his master. Meanwhile, Idsys gripped my cheeks with both hands, trembling slightly.
“You vanished so suddenly… I was terrified.”
“W-well, it wasn’t my fault. We were just swept away. Sihat got caught up in it too.”
“I see. I’m relieved you’re okay.”
Idsys let out a deep sigh of relief.
I felt a bit awkward with all the attention Dad and my brothers were giving me. But Sihat, standing a step back, just shrugged as if it didn’t bother him.
Then suddenly, I heard a loud rumbling above us, and a huge airship appeared in the distance.
‘Wait… I don’t recognize that airship.’
It was more rugged, much grander—definitely military.
Moments later, a rope ladder dropped from the airship, and someone clung to it, shouting desperately.
“Princess! Zzzhooooom!!!”
Solip…?
Why is Solip, who’s supposed to be in the capital, here?
“Do you hear meeeeeee!!!”
……?
I stared up, my mouth hanging open, utterly bewildered as Solip kept shouting something.
“She’s four years old!!! Adorable!!! Golden hair and crimson eyes… We’re searching for our Princess!!!”
He’s going to lose his voice at this rate.
Before Solip woke up every bird and beast in the area, I tugged on Dad’s jacket to let him know I was here.
It’s the middle of the night, after all.
“Princess!!!”
But before I could say a word, Sophia’s voice boomed across the field.
“Princess Cherisheeeeeeee!!!”
“Where are you!!!”
“We’ve come to rescue you!!!”
Next, it was Shami, Myerden, and Dexon’s turn to shout. All the people who should’ve been safe in the capital were here, too.
‘How did they get here…?’
“They must’ve rushed over the moment they heard. You’re quite loved, child. Hohoho.”
The village chief chuckled warmly, noticing my expression.
‘I’m loved.’
It seems word of my disappearance reached the palace, and everyone was too worried to stay put.
I don’t know where they got that airship, but…
‘Ah.’
I felt a warm glow in my chest.
Despite the freezing weather, the warmth spread from my heart, making me feel incredibly happy.
“Princess! Oh, I nearly fainted!”
“Thank goodness the Emperor provided a military airship…”
Once everyone had descended to the ground, they surrounded me, crying uncontrollably.
It was overwhelming, but I didn’t forget to reach out and grab Sihat’s wrist.
Even though he was almost swallowed up by the crowd, our eyes met.
Thank you.
Sihat looked slightly surprised, but the words formed on his lips said it all.
“Solip, you did well.”
“Huff, our dear Princess… I was so worried you’d be lost and suffering…”
“Indeed. The winter elves here saved Cherishe. You’ll stay behind to handle the negotiations.”
“…Excuse me?”
“Discuss with the chief. We’ll build new houses for the village, along with a school and a food storage facility. Once the talks are settled, return to the palace.”
With Solip’s arrival, Dad decided to leave him in charge here.
Solip’s mouth dropped open at the prospect of extra work, but what could he do? The Amon hunt wasn’t over yet, so Dad and my brothers couldn’t stay.
Good luck, Solip!
“Goodbye, Grandma!”
As Dad carried me away, I waved enthusiastically.
After this day, I grew up a little more, going through several more rounds of Amon hunts.
And every winter, I eagerly anticipated visiting the winter elf village—my little secret.
There were many twists and turns, but everything passed safely, and soon, I was eleven years old.
And now, the 30 billion gems were within my reach.
