Chapter 20
As I showed weakness, a triumphant smile spread across Ash’s face.
‘Does it feel good to bully someone weaker than you?’
I can’t understand it.
Being stronger than me and beating me is expected, so what’s the point?
Internally shaking my head, I continued acting, pretending to tremble.
“Do you know how much Princess Alexandra has been mocked because of you? This isn’t something that can be solved with an apology.”
“Th-then…?”
“From now on, you’ll be under me, Ash, doing whatever I say. Don’t even think about telling an adult.”
“If… if I tell?”
“Hey! Didn’t you hear me? Princess Alexandra won’t let you off!”
Coward.
He’s using someone stronger as a shield, completely illogical.
And when his words fall short, he resorts to shouting.
“Yikes!”
I pretended to be very shocked and sat down hard.
I had to lower my head to hide my laughter.
Meanwhile, Ash continued to boast.
“Your mother was a maid too, wasn’t she? You’ll lose your Castalia name soon, so you better get used to being a maid. I’m saying this for your own good.”
Oh, nonsense. Barking like a dog!
‘You dare drag my mom into this?’
I had planned to hit him once, but I changed my mind.
He needed a proper lesson.
Pretending to be disheartened, I fumbled.
Seeing this, Ash, delighted, took a few steps closer and bent down, wanting to savor his perceived victory.
“Cherry…”
“Yes, what about me?”
“Cherry… headbutt!”
“Ugh!”
Wham!
I had been gathering strength in my legs and suddenly sprang up, hitting him square in the jaw.
No matter how strong he is, he’s still just a kid.
“Hmph.”
My solid head delivered a powerful uppercut to his chin, and he was down, unable to stand.
I approached the downed boy and pressed my small foot onto his chest, specifically his solar plexus.
“You.”
“Y-you can’t… ow! It hurts!”
“If you act up with me again, I’ll hit you harder.”
“Y-you’re crazy!”
The power of the Dragon Heart flared up within Ash, but he held back, knowing that using it would likely bring the Prince to intervene.
“Apologize for insulting my mom right now.”
“N-no way! That was just a fluke! Make it null! Null!”
This brat can’t even admit defeat!
I understood what it meant to be incorrigible.
I needed to shove dirt in his mouth to fix that attitude.
I thought about kicking him again with my hard-soled shoe but decided it would hurt me more.
Instead, I leaned in close and whispered to the already half-terrified boy.
“Do you know about the legendary red medicine?”
“…What?”
“When you drop it on a wound, it foams up and hurts incredibly. I’ll pour it all over your chin.”
“Are you threatening to poison me?”
It’s not poison, it’s medicine, idiot.
But I nodded with a wide grin.
“It’ll hurt so much you’ll scream.”
“Ugh!”
“And this isn’t your playground. Don’t come here again.”
“Who do you think you are!”
“Oh, really.”
Being strong and being resolute are different.
Ash might be stronger than me, but he lacked resolve.
Look at him now, just whining while lying down.
“Hey, there’s a place where the maids do laundry, right? From now on, play there. The garden is mine.”
I stuck my tongue out at her and turned away. I had no interest in the scared dog who had already tucked its tail between its legs.
I’m busy, after all.
“Hmph, you’re not even as good as Alexandra. Who do you think you are?”
Well, that’s why Alexandra is recognized as the heir to the throne.
Ash yelled something behind me, but I didn’t listen.
I casually cleaned my ears and skipped away to another place.
Oh, I don’t have time to play with someone like you!
* * *
About five minutes earlier.
When Cherry was just starting to confront Ash.
In the garden, where a large oak tree over five hundred years old stood, there were secret observers.
Two boys who looked about twelve years old.
They were leisurely sitting on a sturdy branch, admiring Cherry’s golden hair fluttering.
“What’s that?”
“That’s our cousin, Gergys.”
“That?”
“You don’t call your cousin ‘that.’ And since Father said he’s adopting her, she’ll soon be our sister.”
The boys were twins.
They looked exactly like Prince Vikal.
Anyone could see they were Prince Vikal’s twin sons and heirs, Idsys and Gergys.
Despite their young age, they were strikingly beautiful boys.
The one with the dazzling blonde hair and a mole near his mouth was Idsys Wynn Castalia.
The one with the wine-colored hair and sharp teeth was Gergys Wynn Castalia.
“A sister? I don’t need that.”
“You shouldn’t say that, Gergys. Father must have a reason for his decision.”
“Well, I don’t care. I’m not interested.”
Gergys scratched his head as if he didn’t understand Idsys’s reasoning.
Then he let out a sound and hung upside down from the branch using only his legs.
The blonde boy shook his head, watching his twin.
“Anyway, if we leave her alone, she might get hurt, Gergys.”
“Hurt? What do you mean by hurt?”
“Well, I read in a book that it means the body gets suddenly worse.”
“Even with Dragon Heart? Why would a superior race get sick?”
“I don’t know…”
Idsys, with his pretty curly hair, tilted his head. Then his eyes widened as if he had an idea.
“The weather’s gotten cooler. She’s only four years old… She’s weaker than Ash. Should we step in?”
“But if Father finds out we returned to the palace early, it’ll ruin our plan to stay hidden for a few days.”
“Then we just need to keep it a secret. Ash just has to keep quiet, right?”
“Hm… do as you like.”
Gergys, looking bored, returned to his original position.
They had come out of their secret base because they sensed magic, but it was dull. To Gergys, it was just weaklings fighting.
Like a small sparrow fighting a wild boar.
“She made medicine with Uslum. She might not be completely useless. Should we take her to Grandpa?”
“That sounds like a good idea. I’m not sure what she can do, though.”
“But Grandpa’s health is getting worse. She might be able to help. We could earn some points too.”
Then it happened.
Bang!
A loud noise startled the birds, making them flutter away.
Gergys, who hadn’t seen the scene, stood up and grabbed his twin’s shoulder.
“What did you just do?”
“Well, the sparrow is stepping on Ash’s head with her foot. She’s quite brave.”
“Oh, now I like her! That spirit! Impressive.”
“Yeah, she’s got spirit. She won’t faint in front of Grandpa.”
Some royal members, including Ash, would faint just standing before Raerhod.
Idsys and Gergys were strong from birth, so they couldn’t understand why others were so weak.
Even the frail Alexandra could endure.
“Try acting rude to me again. I’ll hit you harder than before.”
Hiding among the thick branches, the two boys giggled as they watched.
Even from this distance, they could hear everything Cherishe said.
“Apologize for insulting my mother right now.”
She was as proud as a small chocolate that melts instantly when put in the mouth.
She stood her ground, even before a much stronger opponent, demanding an apology for what was right and wrong.
“Gergys, she doesn’t seem like a sparrow after all.”
“Right. Maybe she’s a baby dragon.”
“Though she’s weak and might be separated from the pack soon. But still, a dragon is a dragon.”
Cherishe ran off somewhere, and Ash was left shouting behind her.
“Hey!!! I’ll really kill you! I will!!!”
Thump, thump, thump.
The sound of Dragon Heart beating wildly could be heard.
Excitement made Ash’s heart beat irregularly, and a huge aura emanated from her entire body.
As if she would devour the girl who had run ahead.
But the aura couldn’t even touch Cherishe’s shadow and fizzled out.
Gergys had moved.
“That’s not going to happen.”
“G-Gergys?”
Ash gaped at the boy with wine-colored hair who appeared before her without a sound.
Seeing Idsys with his golden hair, always together with his twin, Ash’s legs started shaking.
Just one stomp.
With that, Gergys nullified Ash’s aura, straightened his back, and cleaned his ear.
“You’ve been using Alexandra’s name. Do you think you can survive doing that in Wynn’s territory?”
A sharp inquiry.
It was followed by Idsys’s gentle laugh.
“It seems you’ve been coming here a lot while we were away. Did you enjoy it?”
