Chapter 16
At first, I thought he didn’t like me, but after observing closely, that wasn’t it.
He just sighed out of habit.
So, I no longer flinched at the Prince’s sighs.
‘Next is…’
The bed!
The bed, which took up one entire wall of the room, had a very unique structure. It looked like a castle from the outside.
You had to walk up the stairs to get on top, and when coming down, you slid down the slide on the other side.
Light pink, light purple, and white.
The second floor of the bed, made of these three colors, was very cozy when I climbed up.
‘Wow.’
How should I say it?
The bed had something that excited the child in me!
“Yay!”
Holding a teddy bear, I slid down the slide, my skirt fluttering.
I was having so much fun that I slid down five times.
All the while, the Prince kept turning the pages of his book in the same position.
‘What book could he be so focused on?’
Curious, I tiptoed closer to the Prince, passing by the unicorn plush and the little carriage toy on the carpet.
I wanted to read the title on the book cover.
‘The Daughter Loved by the Demon…?’
What a strange title.
Is it a novel?
But does the Prince read novels too?
I tilted my head left and right, then lifted my gaze.
“!”
And my eyes met the Prince’s.
Wow, he’s handsome!
‘…No, that’s not the point.’
I got caught peeking.
At times like this, it’s better to act boldly.
“What are you reading~?”
“How to Raise a Child.”
“But Dad, you already have two kids, right? We learned that earlier.”
“I never raised those kids.”
Prince’s children.
Idsys and Gergys.
Well, they were geniuses from birth, so unlike an ordinary child like me, they probably didn’t need any care.
‘Did I act too much like a child?’
I pondered for a moment but accepted that I am a child, so what can I do.
Soon, lying on the fluffy carpet, I opened my sketchbook and picked up my crayons.
In front of my sketchbook lay a black heart cat curled up, and I decided to draw it.
Then I would show it to the Prince and ask him.
If he knew the cat, that is.
‘Oh, I need to check the hint too!’
I almost forgot.
It wasn’t hard to peek at the hint while drawing slowly.
‘Alright, first hint! Come on out!’
Bam!
[♡TIP!♡]
When the game is over, you return to the beginning.
All the gems you collected become invalid.
Even if you repaid your debt, everything becomes null, and you have to start over, so be careful of game over!
However, ‘special items’ stored in the user’s treasure chest won’t disappear.
To activate the treasure chest, you need 50 million gems.
▶Remaining hint views: (9/10)
A treasure chest?
‘This game is similar but a bit different from the one I used to play.’
I’ve never heard about a treasure chest before.
‘Special items probably mean those you buy from the dragon shop, right?’
There’s a risk of a game over, so it’s wise to buy good items when you see them, without hoarding gems like a miser. Instead of just saving up to repay debt, it’s better to invest wisely!
I nodded in understanding.
Dragon Shop Street.
It was literally a street lined with shops owned by dragons.
Tall trees lined the wide street, with formal shops densely packed on either side.
In between, there were stalls scattered around, and if you ventured into the alleys, you’d find shops selling suspicious items of unknown authenticity.
Invisible cloaks, potions to become a giant, masks that make you look stunningly beautiful for a day, and crystal balls that tell you one bad thing that will happen in the future.
They sold all sorts of things, and the entrance fee was incredibly high.
Of course, since it was the only street in the dragon world that humans could enter.
‘As far as I know, just entering costs 1,000 gems.’
That’s why I hadn’t dared to go there yet.
Moreover, since the entrance fee was so high, once you got in, you had to buy something before leaving.
Entering required careful consideration.
In the human world, things that were treated as great relics could be found on street stalls there, so if you chose wisely, you could buy something really valuable. The currency was ‘gems.’
That’s right.
Gems were the currency of the dragons as far as I knew.
‘Okay, show me the next hint.’
I got some pretty good information about the treasure chest.
The 99 gems I spent on the hint set were worth it.
[♡TIP!♡]
If you have debt, various penalties will be imposed. It’s better to repay the debt as soon as possible.
▶Remaining hint views: (8/10)
What? This hint is a dud.
It was just a plain debt reminder.
Disappointed, I pouted and called up the next hint.
[♡TIP!♡]
Debt can only be repaid with ‘gems.’
‘Gems’ can only be obtained as quest rewards.
There are three types of quests: (Surprise/Hidden/Achievement).
▶Remaining hint views: (7/10)
This one is somewhat useful!
So far, aside from the initial tutorial mission, I’ve only encountered one type of quest.
Only surprise quests have come up.
‘So, maybe hidden or achievement quests give more gems?’
It feels like they would!
[♡TIP!♡]
Surprise quest rewards range from 1 to 10 million gems, chosen randomly.
Hidden quests appear when certain conditions are met, but those conditions cannot be disclosed.
Hidden quest rewards range from 100 million to 900 million gems, chosen randomly.
▶Remaining hint views: (6/10)
‘Ah, as expected.’
Though the hint says this, surprise quests usually only give 10 gems.
That’s what I’ve noticed these past few days.
‘It’s natural that they wouldn’t tell me the conditions for hidden quests, since they’re hidden.’
I doodled a few shapes and lines on my sketchbook.
Circles, small triangles, another small triangle, and an inverted triangle.
A cat.
Then I turned a page in my sketchbook and called up another hint.
[♡TIP!♡]
Achievement quest rewards range from 100 million to 5 billion gems, chosen randomly.
Achievement quests appear only as part of paid episode quests.
▶Remaining hint views: (5/10)
Oh no, I need to do this!
But I have no idea how to access the paid episodes.
They should tell me that!
Thinking that maybe using another hint view would reveal it, I widened my eyes.
[♡TIP!♡]
To become an heir to the throne, you must accumulate achievements!
▶Remaining hint views: (4/10)
‘No, not this!’
I get that I need to do the paid episodes, okay? But how do I buy them?
Frustrated at wasting a hint view, I stomped my feet. The black heart cat, startled, jumped up.
Feeling guilty, I quickly deflated.
‘Should I check more hints?’
But I only had four hint views left.
What if I need them later? I didn’t want to use them all now.
I pondered as I looked proudly at my colorful sketchbook.
The drawing was meaningless, but didn’t it look kind of like abstract art?
“…It’s clear you have no talent for drawing.”
I would’ve felt more proud if I hadn’t heard this from behind!
I stood up, holding the sketchbook.
Then I thrust the drawing in the face of the Prince, who had closed his book and was now looking at me.
My lips were pouting.
“Look, Dad…”
“….”
“Dad, I drew it. It’s a gift.”
“…Up close, it’s a very artistic, innovative, and fresh attempt.”
Actually, it’s meaningless!
Heh.
I chuckled and shifted my gaze to my hands, now dirty with crayon marks.
Luckily, I was wearing gloves.
I took off the gloves and hugged the teddy bear I had set aside.
“…”
Silence.
The Prince was no longer reading. He was looking at me.
And I, sitting on the floor with my chin on the teddy bear’s head, was looking back at him.
“Dad.”
“Speak.”
“Do my brothers dislike me?”
Honestly, it made sense.
From Idsys and Gergys’s perspective, a useless burden suddenly appeared as their sibling.
Of course, it’s not certain they would accept me as their sister yet!
‘If that wasn’t the plan, he wouldn’t give me this playroom or spend time with me.’
So, I was half-convinced.
The Prince intended to adopt me.
“Are you worried about that?”
“Yes. I just came here suddenly. What if they don’t like me?”
“Don’t worry about it. You won’t see them often anyway.”
That’s true.
It’s hard to imagine them coming into my playroom.
“Still, I’d like it if they didn’t dislike me.”
Idsys, with his sharp mind, could clearly distinguish between what’s beneficial and what’s not.
Gergys was simpler, but Idsys was the problem.
I might win over Gergys, but I had already given up on Idsys.
He’s a no-go.
‘I’ve played as Idsys often enough to know.’
He’s extremely cunning, double-faced, and a master of deception with godlike acting skills.
My cuteness wouldn’t work on him.
“Well, you don’t need to try too hard to impress them.”
The Prince lifted me up and sat me on his knee.
